SOCIAL MEDIA. A social media are computer-mediated tools that allow people to

create, share, or exchange information, career interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks. According to CNN study 61% of teens said they wanted to see if their online posts are getting likes and comments, 36% of teens said they wanted to see if their friends are doing things without them. 21% of teens said they wanted to make sure no one was saying mean things about them. It is very easy to get carried away with the attention and interactions you can have twenty four hours a day on websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but what are the pros and cons that these social media sites are having on our society?

The product of Social Media addiction has even experience by us, especially in today’s generation. Even me and my family is having a Social Media addiction, after I got to school, I’ll make sure that I check my accounts to see an update, as well as my brother and my sister who are engaged in school and business. Through E-mails, Facebook, Skype, Instagram and etc. The following illustration below shows the personal information of my relative who are social media addict.

IMPLEMENTED HELP

Since the problem is in field of computers, I used my knowledge in programming to create an application coded in python to restrict social networking site especially Facebook, Instagram, Skype and Twitter when you reach the allotted time of two hours surfing at this site. The application will automatically drop all the request coming from the user and block the site for the entire day once you consume all your allocated time to browse and it will refresh the time counter on the following day.
