LiteracyI hope you are all managing with the literacy through Purple Mash this week. It is brilliant for me, as I get to see what you have written (but only if work is saved in the year 4 folder or your own folder in Purple Mash) which means I can check on your understanding and progress really easily. Today we have chapter 4 of the story to read followed by a comprehension quiz. The writing task is to write your advice to Josh on how to cope with the rotten bullies at school. Think carefully about this, I am sure you will have lots of good ideas for him from our ‘Apple’s Friends’ work in class. Practise every sentence in your head first and choose the best vocabulary you can. Read and check your ideas and your punctuation carefully before you save it – I want to be really impressed with your suggestions and how you have written them up.

PE Try a Joe Wicks workout or a walk in the fresh air to take a break from your hard work.

More work on the pointillism technique used by our French artist Georges Seurat. Take a look at the scribble design below. Notice how each section is a different shade. Look at how the spacing of the dots inside each area helps to create different depths of colour. Look more closely at the blending and mixing of red and yellow dots inside the area I have circled. Do you notice how these two colours create an orange effect? This is because red and yellow mix to create orange.

There are lots of other examples of colour mixing and the effects that can be achieved on the sheet below. When you have studied these ideas, try to create your own scribble picture on the top half of the following sheet using pointillism. Create sections of light, dark and blends of primary colours too (blends and shades of blue, yellow and red). Every section should be slightly different to the others.Next look at the flower on the sheet below. Choose one primary colour (either red, blue or yellow) and colour the flower with shades and blends of that one colour using pointillism. Think about the spacing of your dots as well as mixing of your chosen primary colour with another to create new colours.
