The DOXA Documentary Film Festival brings together documentary films from around the world and screens them specifically for youth in their series entitled “Rated Y for Youth”. This year, their selection includes the film Swagger by French filmmaker Olivier Babinet. Over the course of three years, Babinet worked with a dozen students and residents in the Parisian suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois, posing questions about family and relationships, hopes and dreams in the wake of the 2005 riots that took place there. The film is in French with English subtitles and will be followed by a panel discussion in French and English. In order to attend, students will need parent/guardian permission, to be returned with payment to their respective teachers by Friday, April 28 th . They will also need permission from their 3 rd and 4 th period teachers (blocks 2-2 and 2-1), as per the form below. We will leave McRoberts by bus at 11:30am, and students will be dismissed from the theatre (The Annex, 823 Seymour Street in Vancouver). The theatre is a short walk from the Canada Line skytrain, which is the most convenient route for students to come back to Richmond. If, however, you are concerned that your student may require assistance getting home, please email Mme Hudson to request accompaniment back to Richmond Center. This is a wonderful chance for students to be a part of a linguistic and cultural event with their classmates, adding to students’ appreciation of various genres and providing them with rich opportunities to discuss and critique a shared film experience. We thank you for your ongoing support of enrichment activities at McRoberts Secondary and we look forward to being able to provide this for your student! Best,

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We, Mme Hudson and Mme Martin, are thrilled to offer a unique learning opportunity for our Grade 11 Français Langue students.

In order to attend, students will need parent/guardian permission, to be returned with payment to their respective teachers by Friday, April 28th. They will also need permission from their 3rd and 4th period teachers (blocks 2-2 and 2-1), as per the form below.
