Discrete Subjects: Literacy & English – We will learn to use the irregular and regular past tense correctly in addition to learning to read and spell common high frequency words. We will explore the features of fiction and non-fiction texts, express our opinion in writing and identify the difference between opinion and fact. Numeracy- We will continue to develop different non-count by one strategies to help us with addition and subtraction. As part of our topic maths we will explore measurement and use different operations to solve problems in the context of money. Spanish – We will be learning to talk about the weather. Health and Wellbeing – We will be learning about internet safety, Fairtrade, discrimination and healthy eating. Social Studies – we will explore the past by learning about Scotland’s castles. We will investigate a range evidence and learn about people living in medieval times. PE – We will be developing our coordination by exploring balance and performing sequences of movements. RE- We will hear, read and recount stories of reconciliation and forgiveness and reflect prayerfully about the choices we have made. Expressive Arts – We will create short dance routines and exploring patterns in art. Ethos and Wider Life of the School: At Holy Cross we are very proud of the many ways that we help other people, develop our awareness of the world and learn to be responsible citizens. In P3 we’ll have the opportunity to: *Participate in Mass at school and learn to pray. *Develop good relationships. *Learn about the importance of pupil voice. *Participate in weekly assemblies. *Participate in pupil groups *Learn about our rights as we work towards the Gold Level RRSA. *Build Resilience – Have a Goal *Building links with Trinity House Interdisciplinary Learning: We will be learning about diversity and the importance of non-discrimination. The children will help to lead the learning by planning activities with the teacher then at the end of the project they will share what they learn with their own class and at a family sharing event later this term. As part of Fairtrade Fortnight from February 25th – March 2nd Primary 3 will be researching where Fairtrade products come and the journey form farm to fork of a Fairtrade product. Planned Opportunities for Wider Achievement: As well as getting the chance to learn in lots of different ways by making, saying, writing and doing, we’ll also get the chance to learn through different experiences. We will participate in: Gold Medal Award and Values certificate House Points Owl Tokens for following the playground charter Outdoor learning including the Daily Mile The Sacrament of Reconciliation Outright Campaign (Global citizenship) We will share achievements from after school clubs Sharing our learning with the rest of the school ..
