Siemens is investing £160 million in a new turbine blade manufacturing facility, project construction, assembly and service facility at Green Port Hull in Yorkshire. In less than two years, a 1,000 strong manufacturing and assembly facility in Hull will be operational, utilising the latest technology in the renewable energy industry at a state of the art facility. About the apprenticeship Our 14 Advanced Apprenticeships are site based and will take up to four years to be fully qualified. Apprentices work towards a technical certificate and an employer owned standard level 3 qualification. You will be fully trained in all aspects of the Wind industry within the Siemens bespoke programme. In year 1 of your apprenticeship, you will be at college full time where you will start your technical certificate and attend Siemens’ composites training programme. In year 2 you will complete your technical certificate at college on day release whilst rotating around the production departments in the factory. You will then complete the final 18 months of your apprenticeship in your home department to achieve your qualification. Our Apprentices will work toward an NVQ3 Extended Diploma in Composite Engineering and a BTEC Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering. Your day to day duties will typically include: Preparation of Blade Production Materials and Equipment Blade Manufacture Quality Control Inspection and Analysis Maintenance of Production equipment Environmental, Health & Safety Aspects Warehouse and Logistics Skills & Attitude Required: The right commitment and enthusiasm for a career in a leading edge engineering environment is critical. In addition the following are required: Possess a strong commitment and enthusiasm to the role and the apprenticeship Strong interest in engineering, manufacturing and technology Good communication skills both written and verbal Good organisational and time management skills Good collaborative and team working skills Ability to work with hand tools and small equipment Initiative and drive Creative problem solving skills A keen interest in renewables Attention to detail and quality focus Ability to read and understanding drawings Curious and enquiring mindset Can demonstrate a history of completing tasks and assignments to a high level Experience of driving improvements Qualifications Required: GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above which must include Maths, English Language and Science are essential and Level 2 ICT is an advantage. What else do I need to know?The apprenticeship is predominantly based at our blade facility on Alexandra Dock and our local Partner Hull College. As part of the scheme you may be expected to travel from time to time to different sites for training.
