A2 TARGETS Overcomplicated analysis at times (waffling)

and not being concise enough – see example below of a waffling answer and a short snappy precise answer

Avoid repeating the same thing in your analysis Use connectives to move onto the next

example Say what is suggested by the quote Explain the effect of the quote Use the correct lines from the extract as no

matter how well you have analysed if the quotes are from the wrong area you don’t get the points. Use a ruler to line off the area and label – see picture as an excellent example.

Not exploring any techniques – remember to include what the technique is in your answer

A4 – Tension and drama referred to therefore good links to the question throughout. Great examples selected and then explored with focus on how they created tension and drama, but also on the meaning in the example.

You look at what is happening in the extract and decide whether it is low/medium or high tension and explore why that is. Does the tension increase? Below is a copy of an A2 example and this example shows the lack of conciseness: (What they are saying is accurate, just that they spend too long making the same point meaning only 2 quotes are covered)

Lined off with a ruler and in the margin the question number is referenced. As well as this annotations have been made to explain words that have been defined.

A short reminder of quote requirements has been put next to the questions.

All this is excellent practice and has ensured that this student stuck to the correct areas from the text to analyse.
