CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE Spring to Life It is Tuesday March 20 th and in two hours it will officially be the first day of spring. It is also the last week for Wednesday Lenten services and marks the beginning of Holy Week with a mix of things all happening at once. With our Palm Sunday worship there will be a barrage of services and culminating in the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter morning. That is a lot of Spring and a lot of Life all happening at once. So maybe if we break it down a bit that would be good. Spring to life! Jesus resurrection from the dead makes coming together for worship not only an invitation, but an “Orientation”. Like the object of a boat is not just to float, but to go somewhere. As Christians, our lives are not just seen as a body breathing and taking in oxygen. We understand that there is purpose in living. Springing to Life, is about living out our call to share this resurrection life with others. Where do we see some life springing out in our lives? How about Kenwood? There has always been a lot of life here at Kenwood. So that is nothing new. Right? But what is new is how we make this ministry available to all. So as we invite and share our “Spring to Life” living, we are involving everyone. Letting there be a place for everyone to share in the living that springs forth from a resurrection perspective. I believe that KLC NEWS APRIL 2018 LIKE THE OBJECT OF A BOAT IS NOT JUST TO FLOAT, BUT TO GO SOMEWHERE. AS CHRISTIANS, OUR LIVES ARE NOT JUST SEEN AS A BODY BREATHING AND TAKING IN OXYGEN.

CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE

Spring to LifeIt is Tuesday March 20th and in two hours it will officially be the first day of spring. It is also the last

week for Wednesday Lenten services and marks the beginning of Holy Week with a mix of things all happening at once.

Springing to Life, is about living out

our call to share this resurrection life with others.

I believe that if we open our church and ministries to “All”, then there will be “All” the more life in our congregation.

Spring to Life, finds Kenwood launching a “new” youth group initiative. This is in part due to the fact that more people are coming together to make our youth a priority in ministry. Why and how is this happening? We have always been concerned about our youth, right? Of course; yet at times like a grain of wheat, new things a born out of seasons when we have forgotten the simple detail. That we are all players. All of us are important. Everyone has something to offer. When we have let someone else do more than they

should, we all lose. If we have forgotten how much we need each other, we cease to see clearly how much we contribute to the health of the whole body of Christ. Life Springs forth from these moments when the Spirit moves and molds us. So I am excited at the opportunity to be working together with youth and adults to spring new life into youth ministry.

United in Praise (UP) service has also gone through some very hard times. Tim Stiebner who had been the leader of that service has moved on, and there has been a definite season of death. But the effect of that time has witnessed a time of replanting. Springing forth out of that time has witnessed new people taking on greater and new roles as leadership changes. There was been hardship, but also a time of renewed hope.

All of these “Spring to Life” experiences reflect the very nature of the Easter story. We are reminded each year as Easter approaches that the Christian life is a life of constant change. A life of planting, dying renewal and growth. What season are you going through? Share with each other! Make yourself available to your friends in the faith and to those who don’t believe. Be open to those who have been hurt or abused by those professing to have faith and who have used that faith to shame or silence them. The challenge for all of us

is to not become jaded or cynical. Probably as never before we are being challenged to answer these questions. What is faith? What is God’s will for my life? Where is God leading me to be involved in my life of faith? How does the life, death and resurrection of Jesus speak to that? How can I be the voice and hands and heart of God to bring good fruits from seed planted in good soil?

The Good News. Today is a new day! Resurrection Comes, and like Easter, springs new life in us. Together we sing: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Amen.

Christ has Risen!

He has risen Indeed!
