Asymmetry A form that does not have balanced proportions.

Balance An even and aesthetically nice distribution of elements.

Closure The mind wants you to see completion.

Contiguity The mind’s tendency to seek a direction to follow and continue to follow based on directional cues.

Gestalt A principle of perception stating that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Effective instructional visuals depend on creating gestalt, a total learning or performance environmental, which are the whole, based upon the successful design and integration of all visual and instructional elements, which are the parts.

Golden Rectangle Any rectangle with sides that have a ratio of 5 to 8. This ratio is believed to produce a balance and pleasing (golden) image or to evoke from the viewer a sense of harmony.

Grid System A set of intersecting lines used to align objects. If the grid is on as you draw or move objects, their corners align on the nearest intersection on the grid.

PlanObjective: To create a graphic were I put 10 pictures that are related and put it all into a picture that resembles the 10 pictures. I need to take the pictures myself so I decided to take screenshots of pictures from the internet. I am planning on taking screen shots of games. It could be fitted into a computer screen.

1. Have a size of A4; your choice portrait or landscape.2. Set the resolution to 300 pixels/inch. Look under advanced settings.3. RGB Color (16 bit).4. Have a title.5. Have a different photo for each of the 10 tips.6. Use gestalt to combine all 10 photos into something more than a collection of photos.7. Have your name in the lower right hand corner; remember, your name should NOT be a focus

point of your graphic.

Method

1. Open Photoshop2. Open new file and set resolution to 300 p/inch3. Set RGB color4. Use the 10 photos you have selected and put it in a picture that represent all 10 pictures5. Merge them together so the graphic looks smooth, for example, same texture of color

10 Tips

Capture natural pose

Slender Man is just standing there acting natural.

Use the two-third rule

The face of Slender Man is 2-3rd of the picture.

Capture relative size

The stone behind the page shows how small the page is.

Get close

It shows the page itself.

Capture depth

The light that is flashing on the page seems to curve below showing depth.

Capture color contrast

The color of the wall and door are more visible with the flashlight.

Texture

The tiles around the page seems to give a little smooth 3 dimensional feeling of the picture

Consider Background

The background is a tree that holds the note, it gives us a better understanding of where we are.

Use lighting

The brightness of the flashlight makes the page more visible and clear.

Use a frame

The picture inside the page shows a girl and Slender Man framed by trees.
