Homestay exchange opportunity – hosting a student from Hong Kong Saturday 29 th October to Sunday 4 th November Four of our pupils and Ms Davidson have just completed a very successful educational homestay exchange visit with our partner school in Hong Kong, HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No.1 Secondary School. As members of the Hong Kong Scotland Schools Improvement Partnership (HKSSIP), we continue to build links with schools in Edinburgh and Hong Kong to promote international and cultural exchanges, as well as sharing best practice and collaborative learning and teaching opportunities for our staff. Our pupils and Ms Davidson travelled with groups from Boroughmuir High School, James Gillespie’s High School and Preston Street Primary School. Details of the partnership can be found at http://hkssip.ltpss.edu.hk/wordpress/ We now hope to find up to four Royal High families who would be willing to host a female student, aged 16 or 17, for one week beginning on Sunday 29 th October. Please email Paul Chambers directly at [email protected] if you are interested in offering a homestay opportunity or to find out more information. As our families are keen to secure air tickets as soon as hostings are confirmed, please note interest by the end of the week if possible. Three Royal High families hosted students from Hong Kong in November 2016, following on from a study visit from our Hong Kong colleagues in April 2016 and a return teacher visit in May2017. Homestay exchange opportunity – hosting a student from Hong Kong Saturday 29th October to Sunday 4th November

Four of our pupils and Ms Davidson have just completed a very successful educational homestay exchange visit with our partner school in Hong Kong, HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No.1 Secondary School.

Details of the partnership can be found at http://hkssip.ltpss.edu.hk/wordpress/

We now hope to find up to four Royal High families who would be willing to host a female student, aged 16 or 17, for one week beginning on Sunday 29th October.

It was enrichening for all involved and Tom, Katie, Shaaray and Struan have enjoyed some life changing experiences, both as hosts, guests and delegates at the InnoTech Exposition at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre!

Along with pupils from the other Hong Kong schools who will be hosted across Edinburgh, the exchange visit includes the Sixth Scotland China Education Network (SCEN) conference in Glasgow and a programme of cultural events including a performance by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra; children from the Scottish host families will be invited to attend all events. Memories from last year’s visitors make a good read and give an account of the impact an international visit can have: http://hkssip.ltpss.edu.hk/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Students%E2%80%99-Reflection-on-the-Scotland-trip.pdf

We very much hope to continue our partnership and provide future opportunities for our pupils to experience Hong Kong, with the children of our families who host guests given priority places where possible.

Paul ChambersDepute Head Teacher.
