Dress code reminder – As the temperature starts to rise, please keep the Excel dress code in mind. All shorts/skirts need to be no more than 3” above the knee. (Bermuda shorts are appropriate, short shorts are not.) Tank-tops (or spaghetti straps) are NOT allowed. Sleeveless shirts need to cover the shoulder. Thank you for helping us by reinforcing these expectations as you shop.
The 2017-2018 Yearbook is on sale for $20. Please make checks payable to: Excel Charter Academy. They will arrive the end of this summer and will be distributed the first week of school. There are extra order forms in the office. The deadline for ordering is the last day of school, Friday, June 8, 2018 .
Dear Parents, It is coming to the close of the year already and the warm weather is coming too. With all of the excitement I want to offer free homemade cookies (it's an amazing recipe!) for your child's classroom who bring ALL their books back or pay for them on their library day Monday May 21, Tuesday May 22, Wednesday May 23. If you have any questions regarding this please let me know at [email protected] or 616-281-9339. A special prize will be given to kids who have allergies and qualify for the free cookie. Mrs. Cok
We will be holding an Open House on May 22 from 3:45-4:30 PM to honor several staff members who are retiring or moving on next year. (Miss den, Mrs. Gorter, Mrs. Brock, Mrs Bratt, Mrs. Still, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Buttery, Mrs. Swank) Please join us for cake and punch in the gym! Spread the word if you know of previous Excel families who would like to come back to visit with them.
ART FAIR! is Thursday, May 10, 2018 (5:30-7:30 p.m.) Art Fair includes artwork from every Excel student! Our halls will be filled with art for you to enjoy and our fabulous PTO will be serving ice cream! See you there!

Visit the library on Monday. Participate in goal work on Monday. Take the Reading MSTEP on Tuesday. Practice reading Shakespeare Reader's Theater aloud, working on
vocabulary, pronunciation and presentation. Answer comprehension questions about their plays. Continue to work on their choice reading goals, taking AR quizzes and
doing TAGDRs. Students should have their 4th book done by 5/9. Note: the homework for students this week is to keep up with their
reading. If they are caught up, then they have the week off from homework!
