Jesus promised them. We read in Matthew 19:28 - "So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."

B. You don't ________ what you are Asking – 10:38-40 "But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"

The word, "ask" in verse 38 is used in the indirect middle voice, which represents a person acting in his own _______-________.

Verse 39 - "They said to Him, "We are able."

_______The word, "cup" used here is distinguished from every ______ cup mentioned in the Bible. It is the cup that our Lord drinks from. It stands out as a special cup, as an unusual one.

________ - Being under water is a picture of being overwhelmed by calamity. Here it speaks of all the ________ that Jesus would face and go through on behalf of mankind. Today we would say, “baptism by fire.”

Verse 39 - "...So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized."2

An anthropologist – “The problem with most of ____ is that we are like the rest of ____."

The words, " greatly displeased " …

III. What __________ (Our Lord) Wants – 10:42-45

What is it that Jesus shares with His disciples? Jesus shares four very practical ________ about true greatness.

A. Greatness can be _________ – 10:42 "...You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them."

The Greek word used here for “________” in verse 44 is, "doulos" and it means, "one who forfeits his rights in order to serve any and all."

The Amplified Bible – “And whoever wishes to be most important and first in rank among you must be the slave of all."

D. Greatness __________ through Jesus Christ – 10:45

This is the ______ verse for the gospel of Mark, and it ought to be a key verse in the life of a Christian. In this verse Jesus shares how His own life demonstrates everything that He has shared with His disciples about true ____________. (Take notes)

If you want to be great, in God's kingdom learn to be the servant of all. If you want to be great, in God's kingdom learn to be the servant of all. Learn to be the servant of all, Learn to be the servant of all.

If you want to be great, in God's kingdom Learn to be the servant of all.
