Success Story: Mobile Backhaul

Introduction

Pelephone is the oldest mobile operator in Israel, with a

network supporting over 2M LTE subscribers.

Starting with AMPS and offering LTE today, the

Pelephone network has been in constant evolution.

Challenge

• Pelephone uses wireless extensively to connect their

Cell sites

• Advanced LTE and soon 5G NR are driving the

capacities to levels traditional microwave cannot

support

Solution

• E band PtP links from Siklu offer an increase in

capacity up to 10Gbps Full Duplex

• Pelephone is currently using 1Gbps and 2Gbps radios

with higher capacities available for the future

Success Story: Smart City – City of Jerusalem

Introduction

Adopting a cost-effective multi-service approach,

Jerusalem’s wireless infrastructure by Siklu provides

high-speed Internet service in public spaces, municipal

buildings and educational institutions, as well as

thousands of security, traffic control and parking

management cameras at speeds ranging from hundreds

of megabits to 10Gbps.

Challenge

• New fiber would involve lengthy and expensive

trenching work and an overall nuisance for

local residents

• Leasing high-speed lines from an operator would

constitute the most substantial part of their initial

investment (CAPEX) and ongoing costs (OPEX)

Solution

• Core redundant mmWave ring offering speeds of 5-10

Gbps with ranges of up to 10km

• A street-level access layer was also installed ranging

from hundreds of Mbps to 2Gbps

Results

• The network now has X10 the available bandwidth

and can consolidate all fixed communications services

onto a unified network infrastructure

• This will result in expected savings of 80% in terms

of ongoing operating costs
