Summery

I intend to make a website that appeals to a wide range of people, i have have quite a lot of ideas for a website including, italian cars, the best restaurants in the area, and things to do in York.

My idea.

One of the things i really enjoy at the moment is listening to different artists and bands albums in full, instead of just the odd single track.

I usually have a quite opinionated view on them so i decided i would create an album review website, where i review albums and singles released by solo artists and bands.

What will i be reviewing?I intend to review all genres of music, more specifically rock, and alternative music, as that is what i personally am listening to at the moment.

I will be reviewing the music in a different way to conventional reviews, although, i will be giving them a star rating like other review sites.

Target Audience

As i will be reviewing recently released albums, i believe my target audience will be teenagers and young adults, with an age range of 16-30 year olds. although, i will be reviewing some of my favorite old albums, and also taking requests from the websites visitors.

Website Design

Websites and competitors

Rolling Stone Magazine and Website.

I think the layout is simple, with the latest news, new music, and a live feed on display as you first see the website. Also the navigation bar has

everything you could want on it. I enjoy the simple white background and the bold logo at the top, something i have thought about using on my website.

Rolling stone magazine is definitely a competitor as its one of the only websites that gives out half decent reviews.

As i was browsing for programs recently, i realized why i kept using 4OD rather than other similar websites, i enjoy the simplicity and colour scheme of the

website and “catch up” and “most popular” sections are presented well, along with the scrolling bar at the top showing the best documentaries, lifestyle

programs and programs for the younger generation.

Magazine

KERRANG Magazine

I rarely ever read the magazine but i recently bought a copy and i enjoyed how the articles were very straight forward and to the point, and how there are a lot of pictures and bold text involved. This is an idea i would like to use in my website, making my reviews very strong, yet keeping them fairly short and to the point so not to waste the viewers time and keep them interested.

EASY TO NAVIGATE

PersonaA 20 year old male, who studies at university, visiting my website to find new singles or albums to download to put on his iPod. I think they would look for the latest single releases to listen to whilst studying or in a common room. As my website gives links to iTunes and other music downloading sites, it is easy for you to read up on your favourite artists new album, and download it if you like the sound of it.

Persona 2A 43 year old woman, a housewife and mother of 2, logging onto my website to read reviews of the band her youngest daughter is taking her to see. Listening to previews of some of the bands tracks and looking at other viewers reviews of the bands gigs and albums.
