King of all days. Oh, so highly exalted. Glorious in heaven above. Humbly You came. To the earth You created. All for love's sake became poor. Chorus: Here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down, Here I am to say that You're my God You're altogether lovely Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me I'll never know how much it cost. To see my sin upon that cross. I'll never know how much it cost. To see my sin upon that cross. I'll never know how much it cost. To see my sin upon that cross. I'll never know how much it cost. Chorus.

Words & Music: Tim Hughes © 2001 Thankyou MusicCCLI #11091155 Collect of the Day

Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And also with you. Celebrant Let us pray.

O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd of your people; Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calls us each by name, and follow where he leads; who, with you and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. First Reading Acts 2:42-47

A reading from the 2nd Chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, beginning at the 42nd verse: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. Psalm 23 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

1 Corinthians 12:31b – 13:1-13 A reading from the 12th chapter of the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, beginning at the 31st verse: And yet I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God.

Sequence Hymn “The Lord is My Shepherd” The Lord is my Shepherd He leadeth me always Beside the still waters He leadeth me always

Gospel John 10:1-10

Gospeller The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John. People Glory to you, Lord Christ. For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Gospeller The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to you, Lord Christ. The Sequence Hymn resumes: Always always He leadeth me always Always always He leadeth me always

Words & Music: Public domain Sermon The Rev. Jonathan G. Robbins Nicene Creed (Please stand.) We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

5

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of the People

During the periods of silence, the congregation is invited to offer personal requests. Please respond to each petition by saying, “Hear our prayer.” Confession and Absolution

Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor. (Silence)

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Celebrant pronounces the Absolution over the people.

Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. Peace

Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you. People And also with you.

Then the Ministers and the People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

Great Thanksgiving

Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And also with you.

7

Celebrant Lift up your hearts. People We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People It is right to give him thanks and praise. It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. But chiefly are we bound to praise you for the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for he is the true Paschal Lamb, who was sacrificed for us, and has taken away the sin of the world. By his death he has destroyed death, and by his rising to life again he has won for us everlasting life. And so we join the saints and angels in proclaiming your glory, as we sing, Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full, full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Celebrant continues: And so, Father, we who have been redeemed by him, and made a new people by water and the Spirit, now bring before you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread, said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine, gave thanks and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.” Remembering now his work of redemption, and offering to you this sacrifice of thanksgiving, Celebrant and People say We celebrate his death and resurrection, as we await the day of his coming. Accept these prayers and praises, Father, through Jesus Christ our great High Priest, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship, from generation to generation. Amen.

8

And now, as our Lord Jesus has taught us, we are bold to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Fraction Anthem Jesus Lamb of God have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us. Jesus, redeemer, redeemer of the world. Give us your peace, give us your peace. Celebrant The Gifts of God for the People of God. Take them in remembrance that Christ died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith, with thanksgiving. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Communion Music “He is Lord” He is Lord, he is Lord! He is risen from the dead, and he is Lord! Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess That Jesus Christ is Lord!

“Because He Lives”

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus He came to love, heal, and forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Chorus: Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, All fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives. How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives. But greater still the calm assurance, This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

9

Chorus: Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, All fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives. And then one day I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain. And then as death gives way to victory, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives. Chorus.

Words: Bill & Gloria Gaither ©1974 “How Great is our God”

The splendor of the King. Clothed in majesty. Let all the earth rejoice. All the earth rejoice. He wraps Himself in light. And darkness tries to hide. And trembles at His voice. And trembles at His voice. Chorus: How great is our God. Sing with me. How great is our God. And all will see how great. How great is our God. And age to age He stands. And time is in His hands. Beginning and the End. Beginning and the End. The Godhead three in one. Father Spirit Son. The Lion and the Lamb. The Lion and the Lamb. Chorus. Name above all names. Worthy of all praise. My heart will sing. How great is our God.

10

Chorus: How great is our God. Sing with me. How great is our God. And all will see how great. How great is our God.

Postcommunion Prayer Celebrant Let us pray. Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord. Amen. Blessing

The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you always. Amen. Closing Hymn “Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us” Savior, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need thy tender care; in thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare. Chorus: Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, thine we are. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, thine we are. We are thine, thou dost befriend us, Be the guardian of our way; Keep thy flock, from sin defend us, Seek us when we go astray. Chorus. Early let us seek thy favor, Early let us do thy will; Blessed Lord and only Savior, With thy love our bosoms fill.

11

St. Paul’s Church Capital Campaign “Building Faith. Transforming Lives.”

In 2 Corinthians 8:11-12, St. Paul writes: “Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness

to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. For if the willingness

is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not

have.”

Consider the tax and income benefits, low trust managements fees,

and flexibility offered by a St. Paul’s charitable remainder trust. Perhaps you have appreciated stock paying a low dividend? Are you concerned about corporate

mergers, acquisitions, or takeovers and how this will affect your income and stock value? Maybe

you have securities or a piece of real estate that has increased in value over time. To sell any of

these assets and reinvest the proceeds would produce significant capital gain taxes. To increase

your income and reduce your taxes, you may wish to consider using these assets to fund a

charitable remainder trust (CRT) with St. Paul’s Church. Contact Dean Sparks or Jeff Lockhart

for more information.

Please come to the right side of the altar after the service and the healing team will pray with you.
