Couples will be able to plan their entire wedding at the

Echuca-Moama Weddings Expo on May 26.

More than 80 wedding service providers from Echuca-

Moama and surrounding areas will have an exhibit at

the expo, which will be held at the Stubberfield Centre

(formerly the Fonterra Centre) from 10.30am to 4pm.

“If you are a prospective bride or groom, the Echuca-

Moama Weddings Expo is an essential part of your

wedding planning,” expo committee secretary Shirley

Tisher said.

Michelle Rudd, who married Trent Bux at Moama on

Murray in December, found all her wedding suppliers at

last year’s Echuca-Moama Weddings Expo.

“It is the perfect place to start when looking at

planning a wedding here,” she said.

Couples who attend the expo can expect to see lots

of new ideas and products from a range of exhibitors,

including photographers, celebrants, churches, venues,

florists, cake makers, caterers, clothing and bridal stores

and entertainers.

If people are interested in seeing the venues, that can

be arranged at the expo.

“Couples can find everything under one roof and plan

their entire wedding at the expo,” Shirley said.

“We expect about 300 brides to attend at the expo,

with most booking their services on the day.

“It’s become such a popular event, because Echuca-

Moama is such a popular wedding destination.”

The expo will feature two fashion parades, showcasing

traditional and contemporary bridal wear and

menswear and flowergirl and pageboy outfits.

There will also be a lucky door prize and catering

available.

Wedding expo organiser Tracy Luscombe said planning

for the expo was going strong and the excitement was

building.

“Echuca- Moama is getting more and more popular as

a great wedding destination as there are so many great

locations and activities to see and do and, of course,

the river,” she said.

“Come and enjoy the day with us, source great product

from our region and make your big day magic.”

Organised by a voluntary committee, the expo has the

support of leading regional businesses relevant to the

weddings industry.

After adamantly telling her mother she would not wear a veil for her wedding, Michelle Rudd gave her the surprise of her life, walking down the aisle with a floor-length veil fit for a royal.“I had never thought of wearing a traditional veil, but when trying

on wedding gowns for the first time, my mum, who was with me,

was absolutely desperate for me to try on veils,” Michelle said.

“It’s all she could talk about.

“I was planning on going with a birdcage style or maybe even

nothing at all. So I humoured her and tried them on, still not liking

them.

“I wouldn’t say my mum is a traditionalist and I still don’t know

why she wanted me to wear one so bad, but she just did.

“She even threatened me that if I didn’t wear one, she wasn’t

coming to the wedding.

“This I found really humourous. I am not one who likes being told

what to do, so I guess I was a bit rebellious and stood my ground

and told her that it would be her bad luck.”

However, as the bridal gown was being made by dressmaker friend

Georgia Young, the more Michelle started visioning it with a veil.

“There was no way I was telling my mum this after I had been

so adamant I wasn’t wearing one, so I decided to surprise her. I

thought it would be fun,” she said.

“My dressmaker made me a beautiful floor length veil and I even

managed to transport it from Melbourne to Echuca where we were

staying without my mum knowing.

“The day of the wedding I got dressed in my room, the

photographer was in there with me, but my mum wasn’t, so we

put the veil on then.

“Mum hadn’t seen my gown yet, so when I finally came out after

a minor zip malfunction, she was staring at my gown telling me it

was beautiful.

“Then my sister, who was also my hairdresser/maid of honour, said

‘Mum, look at Michelle’s hair’.

“As soon as she saw the veil, she cupped her hands over her

mouth and started bawling. I don’t think I have ever seen my mum

cry that hard.

“It was really beautiful and I was so happy I chose to surprise her

and so happy the photographer was there to capture the moment.

“I was also so happy I chose to wear a veil because it really

did complement the whole thing.”

The moment was made even more special as Michelle walked

down the aisle to the Beyonce’s version of ‘Ave Maria’.

“My mum walked down the aisle to Ave Maria when she

married my dad, so it was very special to me,” she said.

The bride looked stunning as she walked down the aisle in

her ‘Hollywood glam’ white strapless gown, which featured a

deep sweetheart neckline.

“My gown was the most amazing part,” she said.

“I absolutely loved it and felt so good in it.

“The fabric was sequined which is not the norm for a wedding

gown, but it really was amazing.”

Michelle, along with her three bridesmaids, Lisa, Tracey and

Bianca, carried ivory roses.

As for the boys, they were dressed by the best man Ryan.

“He definitely has great style,” Michelle said.

“He works over in the mines in Western Australia, so we had

to wait for him to come home for his monthly visit before the

boys could go off and get themselves sorted.

“It was something that I didn’t have anything at all to do with

which suited me just fine.

“The boys went with a brown pant and white shirt. No jacket,

no tie, no vest. Just simple, which was perfect for the style of

wedding we were going for. They looked hot.”

The ceremony was “amazing”, Michelle said.

“It was the part I was most looking forward to,” she said.

“Moama on Murray was gorgeous and the best part was I

was able to have what I wanted because it’s only venue hire.

Everything else we do ourselves.

“The ceremony/reception area overlooked the river which was

perfect.

“I had a gorgeous silk-lined marquee put up along with

strings of lanterns which were amazing at night.

“I like the fact that we kept it all in one spot. Even the photos

were kept on site.

“My wedding could have been described as ‘tizzy’ decoration-

wise, but the feel was extremely casual and fun.”

The colour scheme was white and silver with splashes of

coral throughout the reception area, complementing the

bridesmaids’ coral dresses.

“I had coral pillar candles as part of our table settings and

some coral ribbon on our cake. I think it looked really nice,

clean and simple,” she said.

Most of the decorations were hired through Echuca-Moama

Party Hire, which also helped with the set-up.

“They have everything you would ever need for a DIY

wedding,” she said.

“As well as the marquee and lanterns, we also hired the

tables, chairs, all of our glassware, bar tables and stools and

a cool room.”

It was a sit-down wedding and the catering was a buffet-style

roast menu, with a choice of three cuts of meat with roasted

vegetables and salads.

“The food was amazing and there was plenty enough for our

guests to enjoy seconds,” Michelle said.

“They also did pre-dinner canapes, while we were having our

photos taken.”

The two-tier white chocolate and fresh raspberry mud cake

doubled as the dessert.

“I honestly couldn’t recommend it any higher. It was

beautiful,” Michelle said.

The bonbonnieres were personalised stubby holders with a

cartoon drawing of the couple with their dog, Tori.

Tyler Hudson provided the music, playing guitar and singing,

before becoming the DJ.

“Our favourite band is the Jezabels and there is a song by

them called ‘Rosebud’ which we chose to do our first dance

to,” Michelle said.

“I just loved every bit of my day and would do it all over again

given the chance.”

Sherry Lanyon’s arrival at her wedding to Jarrad Nuttall is one that their guests are not likely to forget in a hurry.

While Jarrad and their guests waited in the clearing

of a corn paddock on Sherry’s family farm, the

bride, her four bridesmaids and the two smallest

attendants boarded two big John Deere tractors to

make their surprise entrance.

Sherry was proudly driven to the ceremony by her

dad, Trevor Lanyon.

The second tractor, driven by Sherry’s brother

Steve Lanyon, featured three bridesmaids standing

precariously, yet safely, on the external steps

and a fourth bridesmaid seated in the cabin with

one-year-old attendants Billy Sutton and Victoria

Lanyon.

The tractors were specially prepared for the

occasion, having had a thorough wash and

traditional white ribbons strung from the bonnet.

The other two flower girls and pageboys — all

Sherry and Jarrad’s nieces and nephews —

continued the John Deere theme, arriving on a

small children’s gator, driven by the eldest of the

flower girls.

The 2.4m tall corn crop surrounding the ceremony

meant the roar of the tractor engines was the first

MAKING ANentrance

Page 19: Wedding Issue 2013

indication Sherry would arrive in a less than conventional

vehicle.

Even Jarrad was in the dark until the tractors slowly made

their way down a track which had been specially cut

through the corn for their entrance.

“It was a big surprise,” Sherry said.

“He (Jarrad) thought it was awesome.”

The idea of using the tractors as the bridal vehicles came

from Sherry’s dad.

“We only decided a week before (the wedding) we were

going to use the tractors,” Sherry said.

The vehicles were more than fitting for the wedding, held at

Lanyon Farms in Boort, which has been in Sherry’s family for

six generations, since 1869.

The location of the ceremony on the farm holds special

significance for the Lanyon family.

Sherry’s grandmother, Elva Lanyon, planted the trees which

towered above the couple and their guests and formed a

perfect natural avenue for the special occasion.

“(Planting) the trees were the last thing my dad’s mum

did before she died, aged just 24, so that made it really

special,” Sherry said.

Getting married on the family farm was something Sherry

had always dreamed about.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to get married on the

farm,” she said.

The wedding was all she had hoped for.

“We wanted to keep it quite casual, but fun,” Sherry said.

“It was the best day. I couldn’t have asked for anything

more perfect.

“It was everything I wanted.”

Sherry and Jarrad’s wedding had a frangipani theme running

throughout all of it, with frangipanis Sherry’s favourite

flower.

Sherry’s bouquet was made from artificial frangipanis, while

two bamboo tepees topped with frangipanis marked the

entrance to the ceremony area, while another two stood

near the couple as they said their vows.

The wedding cake was also decorated with frangipanis.

Sherry’s friend’s sister Jenny Watson made the cake which

was later decorated by Sherry’s mum Karen.

Each of the guest’s name cards also had frangipanis on

them, as did the invitations and menus which were both

designed by another of Sherry’s friends.

“We definitely went way out on the frangipanis,” Sherry

said.

The yellow bridesmaids dresses — Sherry’s favourite

colour — complemented the frangipani theme, as well as

matching perfectly with the corn and the green and yellow

of the John Deere tractors.

The frangipanis even extended to the nail art on the

bridesmaids, with each having a tiny frangipani painted on

one fingernail and one toenail.

Owner of Beauty Empire in Echuca, Sherry said having

beautiful nails was important to her.

“Because it’s my industry, I wanted the girls’ nails to look

perfect,” she said.

Sherry’s own nails featured a French manicure with small

diamantes.

“It’s a really nice, classic look,” she said.

Sherry and her employee and friend, Liz Watts, did all the

nail art and make-up for Sherry and the bridesmaids.

Their hair was done by Sherry’s sister, Kelly Sutton.

Jarrad and the groomsmen did not miss out on having

their own special touch, with each wearing ‘groom’ and

‘groomsmen’ socks on the day.

The wedding reception was just a short walk from the

ceremony, held in a marquee on the lawn overlooking the

corn paddock.

The couple took dancing lessons, showing off their newly

acquired skills in their bridal dance to Chris Brown’s song

‘Forever’.

They also surprised their guests when they were joined

by the bridal party for a dance routine to LMFAO’s song

‘Shuffling’.

“Everyone was up clapping, you could see everyone wanted

to be on the dance floor and dancing with us,” Sherry said.

“The impact was amazing. It was like, ‘let’s get this party

started’.”

When Belinda Brasher and Julian Smith were married at their Bamawm dairy farm, they were surrounded by 1000 tulips, planted six months earlier to ensure they would bloom on the day of their surprise wedding.

After proposing in March 2012, Julian told Belinda he had

pre-ordered 1000 tulips which he would plant by hand

throughout the yard in time to flower for their engagement

party/surprise wedding on September 15.

He also planned to build a huge outdoor area for the

ceremony and reception.

“We had six months to plan our wedding, build the venue,

plant the plants, as well as run two businesses and care

for our two young sons and keep it all a secret at the same

time,” Belinda said.

“It was very stressful at the time, but also very exciting.

“However, our day was perfect and everything had fallen

into place just in time.”

The bridal party only included a friend each to make sure it

remained a surprise, with Julian having his best friend Daniel

Dullard from Lockington and Belinda having friend Kylie

Stacey from Newman, Western Australia.

“We had two of Julian’s friends as MCs and one of mine to

do our reading. As we wanted it to be a surprise, we really

wanted to include our friends on the day in some way,”

Belinda said.

The ceremony started at 4.15pm, with a bus picking up and

dropping off 140 guests at the farm.

Walking out to Florence and The Machine’s ‘Never Let

Me Go’, the couple said their vows under a big wooden

archway, before signing the registry to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego

House’.

Belinda looked stunning in a white strapless Nicolina gown

with a trail and small detailing on the front and back, while

Kylie wore a midnight blue shoulder ruffle dress.

Julian and Daniel wore matching light grey suits and

black ties, while Ryder and Brax complemented them in

black pants and white button shirts.

The ceremony also included a surprise naming

celebration for the couple’s sons, Ryder and Brax.

Once photographs were taken around the farm, the

reception got into full swing.

The theme was rustic and based around the wedding

flowers, which included white tulips and blue hyacinths.

“Our outdoor area is a barn style with rotating doors and

big open windows, which also included a bathroom, and

we used wine barrels for tables, frosted glass vases and

tulip table displays,” Belinda said.

Opting for finger food, the couple hired a Melbourne

catering company which prepared everything on site

during the ceremony.

“They had servers to attend to the guests and the food

flowed,” Belinda said.

“It included seven types of finger foods; bruschetta,

aranchini balls, Thai beef skewers, mini baguettes and

smoked salmon on croutons.

“For the main, they served three different types of noodle

boxes; three-cheese ravioli, Thai beef salad and fish and

chips. Nobody was hungry.”

The wedding cake was a single cake surrounded by

Hiring a DJ for the night, the couple chose Will.I.Am’s

‘Three Words’ for their wedding dance.

“Not the best slow song, but the song had meaning as

to how we met,” Belinda said.

Looking back on their special day, the newlyweds said

they could not have planned it better.

“It was a wedding in the country, not a wedding on a

farm is the best way to describe it,” Belinda said.

“All in all, it was a huge effort and we had an amazing

day.

A gorgeous embroidery and crystal beading adorn the strapless bodice on this great ball gown.

The natural waist line is accented with a sash and brooch detail.

The full satin gathered shirt really enhances the waist line of the body.

Covered buttons on the train with the waist sash, taking your eyes all the way to the end of the train, gives you the impression of length.

This skirt also features pockets for the bridal to keep her personal face touches or the hanky that holds back the tears of joy.

This slim-fitted gown is perfect for the bride who wants to show her body curves of their body line.

The all-over lace features a beautiful raised lace neckline with contoured straps which continues to a keyhole back.

This mermaid-style gown flares out below the knee.

A chapel length train and covered buttons completes this feminine-style gown.

This gown is suitable for lots of different body shapes because of the ruching around the bodice and waist line, which can either hide or enhance the waist line.

A feature point that sends your eyes is a beaded brooch at the waist line.

The flare silhouette construction on the side of the skirt made from soft organza, which also continues around to the train, adds glamour and elegance to this design.

The tie-up back allows you to tighten or loosen where it is needed.

A simple, yet beautiful A-line gown in a soft satin.

Ruched asymmetrically delicately with sparkling embroidery detail down one side through the bodice to the hips.

The lace-up back ensures a perfect fit, with the look completed with a chapel-length train.

This is a great style for larger figures.

2 3Strapless slimlineThis is a popular choice and hot trend for brides.

Pretty and practical for a ceremony by a river

or in a garden, strapless wedding dresses allow

you to take full advantage of your surroundings.

As you walk down the aisle in your strapless

gown, you can enjoy feeling the sun blanketing

your shoulders and the warm breeze grazing

your bare arms.

You don’t want to spend your reception dancing

in a heavy crinoline skirt.

A strapless, flowing gown is comfortable, fluid

and appropriate for the environment you are in.

LayersPerhaps it’s the way layers seem to emulate

the cascades of a waterfall that makes this

trend so appealing.

Layered skirts create a textured,

sophisticated version that highlight the

special work that went into your gown.

Layers are also graceful because of the

way they flow and sway gently as you glide

down the aisle.

The effect is ethereal and hypnotic.

Slight trainsIf you are shopping for a more traditional

gown, consider one with a slight train.

A wedding dress train is one of the most

traditional elements equated with a bridal

ceremony and having one will certainly make

you feel like a real bride.

Since a mile-long train doesn’t travel well and

may be inappropriate, the slight train adds

just enough ceremony to be manageable and

magnificent.

The old, but new modern gown today has

bands or an elegant crystal brooch.

These details will set your gown apart and

1 Have a beauty routine “Get it into your normal everyday life as soon as you

can. This means finding products that work for you and

sticking to them.

“Schedule some in-salon treatments to give the skin a

boost, as well as some well deserved pampering before

that special day.”

2 Be realistic “Choose a hair and make-up look that best represents you,

not a model or celebrity you have seen in a magazine. If

you are looking for inspiration in magazines, try to choose a

model with your skin tone/hair colour and similar features.

“This way, you will not be disappointed when you look

different to the photo you have shown your stylist at your

trial.”

bridal BEAUTY SECRETS3 Layer your lipstick

“If you want to wear a bold red lip, layer a cherry-

coloured lip stain beneath your lip liner and lipstick.

When the lipstick wears away, you will still have red

lips.”

4 Fake it “A great set of natural-length false lashes will put

the finishing touch on your eye make-up and really

emphasise the eyes.”

5 Use loose translucent finishing powder

“It will set your make-up and minimise shine. If

the skin has shine, it will emphasise lines and

wrinkles.”

6 Prepare your skin “To ensure beautiful, radiant skin (with staying

the skin well.

“Primers are designed to not only increase the

longevity of your make-up, but they will help smooth

7 Have a hair & make-up trial “A hair and make-up trial is very important and make

Grooms are increasingly choosing slim-fit suits and embracing new colours in their sartorial choices for their big day.

NuManz Embroidery owner Jaime Lake said

slim-fitting pants and shirts were the most

popular in wedding suits.

Jaime said greys and charcoals were

becoming more popular as men moved

away from the traditional black or navy.

“Skinny black ties are very popular, as well

as bright colours,” she said.

“Vests are (also) becoming more popular.”

Suit material was also moving more toward

poly viscose instead of the traditional wool,

Jaime said, though she did still stock wool.

Flower corsages were also the trend, rather

than pocket handkerchiefs, she said.

Jaime said there was growing acceptance

of greater creativity in suit choices for men,

influenced by popular culture.

She and her staff keep up-to-date with suit

trends so they were able to source the types

of suits their customers wanted.

Jaime said grooms should do their

homework before choosing a suit and

remember to get in early.

“Have an idea of the look you’re after,”

she said.

“(And) don’t leave things to the last

minute.”

Jaime also issued some general fashion

advice for grooms, saying a man’s shoes

and belt should match and the bottom

button of a suit jacket should never be

done up.

She also said the final choices often came

down to body shape and what looked best

on the groom.

Jaime said its peak period was between

October to April, with a suit sale to look out

for in October.

NuManz Embroidery is the agent for

Spurling and Ferrari and also offers suit hire.

■ Make sure all clothing is well-fitted. For the coat, have your groom stretch his arms across the front and flex to ensure it will remain comfortable all-day.

■ An expensive, well-cut suit or tux can really be worth it.

■ Odd-coloured or patterned socks should be avoided – plain black is generally best.

■ Out-of-character looks or trends should be steered clear of. The wedding photos will last longer than any fast fad!

ECHUCA-MOAMA WEDDINGS | 2013-14 37

Echuca-Moama is renowned for its picturesque scenery, outstanding restaurants and venues and relaxed atmosphere, making it a perfect wedding destination.More than 300 couples are choosing to say ‘I do’ in the

twin towns every year, generating about $10 million for

the local economy.

According to Echuca-Moama Weddings Expo co-

ordinator Tracy Luscombe, Echuca-Moama boasts many

beautiful wedding locations, including the Echuca Wharf,

Aquatic Reserve, paddlesteamers, historic homesteads,

parks and gardens and an endless choice of resorts and

wineries.

“Echuca-Moama is becoming more and more popular as

a wedding destination, particularly for couples outside

the Echuca-Moama region,” she said.

“We offer outstanding venues, professional wedding

suppliers, fantastic accommodation options and a great

atmosphere, all in a beautiful Murray River setting.”

Melbourne couple Michelle and Trent Bux said the

decision to have their wedding in Moama in December

was an easy one.

“Echuca-Moama is somewhere we love to visit as a

holiday destination,” Michelle said.

“It’s just a two-hour drive for us from Melbourne and it

suited us and the vibe of wedding we wanted to have.

“The atmosphere is relaxed, the weather is warm and

it has an overall great feel. We really couldn’t picture

ourselves getting married anywhere else.”

Michelle said she was lucky enough to source nearly

all her wedding suppliers at last year’s Echuca-Moama

Weddings Expo.

“I also sourced a bit of information from the Echuca-

Moama Visitor Information Centre. They sent me a

great little package, which included the Echuca-Moama

Weddings magazine and expo book,” she said.

“I already had an idea of who I was going to use from

the information package and word of mouth, so I

actually did most of my bookings at the expo.

“Every (wedding supplier) exhibitor you visit has their

recommendations and you notice the same ones coming

up over and over.

“Some suppliers also offer really great discounts for

booking at the expo, so that was a huge bonus.”

OURSarah and Luke Ryan wanted a honeymoon that was a little different to the norm, choosing Rarotonga in the Cook Islands for their romantic escape.

The couple, who were married on January 19, jetted off on their 10-night

honeymoon two days later, staying eight nights in Raratonga and two

nights at the Auckland Casino.

“We wanted to go somewhere that was relaxing, but still had things to

do and not just sit around on the beach the whole time. Somewhere that

we would remember as our honeymoon destination also,” Sarah said.

“We had a friend who had been to the Cook Islands before whom had

suggested it as a great honeymoon destination.”

Sarah and Luke both hired a scooter for the whole time they were on the

island, exploring a different part of the island every day.

“We did a lot of swimming, snorkelling, dinner tours, eating, drinking

and relaxing,” Sarah said.

“The scenery was amazing. White sand, blue beaches and the people

were lovely. We met a lot of other couples on their honeymoon also.

“It was a great honeymoon destination and one to remember.”

Booking their honeymoon through Echuca Flight Centre, Sarah and Luke

paid for it themselves.

“I would say the price was moderate. It wasn’t as expensive as Hawaii,

but more expensive to the likes of Thailand,” she said.

“Campbell at Echuca Flight Centre was great to deal with and we had

no problems whatsoever with our connecting flights.

“He had booked all our flights and accommodation for us, so that made

the honeymoon easy for us. We just had to turn up.”

OURRarotonga

Rarotonga is the most populous island of the Cook Islands, with a

population of 13,095, out of the country’s total population of 17,794.

Palm-studded white sandy beaches fringe most of the island and there

is a popular cross-island walk connecting Avatiu valley with the south

side of the island.

This walk passes Te Rua Manga, the prominent needle-shaped rock

visible from the air and some coastal areas.

Hikes can also be taken to Raemaru, or flat-top mountain.

Other stops should include Wigmore Falls (Papua Falls) and the ancient

marae, Arai te Tonga.

Popular island activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, bike riding,

horseback riding, hiking, deep-sea fishing, boat tours, scenic flights,

restaurants, dancing, island shows, squash, tennis, zipping around on

mopeds and sleeping on the beach.

There are many churches open for service on Sunday and the beautiful

a cappella singing makes them a must.

New and exciting wedding cake designs have come to the fore in the past 12 months, according to Tracy’s Cakes’ Tracy Luscombe. The Echuca-based cake designer and maker said many couples

wanted something unique and different for their big day.

Ruffle cakes with ‘frills’ of icing around the cake were popular,

Tracy said.

“Ruffle cakes are very popular at the moment and can be

done in all sorts of designs, whether they are all white or with

gradient colours, and also the design of the ruffles (can be

varied),” she said.

Cake-toppers were also a big feature at the moment because

they allowed couples to personalise their cakes, Tracy said.

“Couples are really searching for that one topper that makes a

statement,” she said.

In terms of colour, bold shades are also trending.

However, ‘bling’ cakes were still a favourite, as well as the

classy black and white designs, she said.

Ganached or buttercream cakes with a rustic feel,

incorporating fresh or artificial flowers which matched the

colours of the bridal party, were also increasing in popularity,

Tracy said.

“Artificial flowers are widely being used as the quality is

fantastic as they are so life-like and many people can’t tell the

difference,” she said.

“Fresh flowers are also very popular.

“Handmade flowers are for that extra special touch and be

kept for many years afterwards as a keepsake.”

Cupcakes were also a new take on the traditional wedding

cake, Tracy said.

“A lot are being boxed up to be used as the bonbonniere gift

as well,” Mrs Luscombe said.

Tracy said she was always looking for new ideas and designs

which had not been tried before.

“I’m always searching for that something different,” she said.

“It’s great to see a design that has been drawn on paper come

to life and be the centrepiece of your special day.

“A lot of details go into making your cake perfect in every

way.”

When we were children, many of us played at

weddings – getting dressed up and having a great

time.

When we were teenagers, we were probably less

sure of what might happen: for some, we couldn’t

imagine being anything other than single all our

lives, for others the wedding was a moment that

could not come soon enough.

Then we meet the right person.

Love grows and the whole experience brings a richer

and deeper dimension to our lives.

The question is popped and marriage is on the way.

The planning for the wedding begins.

Your wedding day is a celebration, a celebration of

who you are, your relationship and your visions and

dreams for your future together.

You want it to be a day that matches your dreams.

But even more, it is to be an event that sets you up

for the rest of your lives.

A wedding at St Mary’s Catholic church.

Love grows and the whole experience brings a richer and deeper dimension to our lives.

It needs to match your values and your

beliefs, as well as your dreams.

As Christian churches, we receive the

good news stories of God in Jesus Christ

and try to pass on these stories with the

same rich, deep, love that God has on

offer to all people always.

We believe the love of two people in a

marriage is a personal reflection of God’s

universal love.

Every Christian wedding service, whether

in a church, on a paddlesteamer or

in a garden, seeks to honour your

uniqueness as a couple and to strengthen

your marriage ties with the broadest

perspective on life and love in God.

We delight to share in your celebration

and we look forward with you to all the

dreams your future holds.

One of the most popular wedding venues

in the district is Perricoota Vines Retreat,

with more than 30 couples, and counting,

celebrating their special day at the Moama

property.

Perricoota Vines opened in December

2000, but has only seriously been holding

weddings since the opening of the Vines

Lakehouse in October 2011.

Nestled between vineyards on 10 acres of

amazing landscaped gardens, Perricoota

Vines Retreat provides the picture-perfect

backdrop for ceremonies, receptions and

accommodation, so there is no need to

leave.

“We are able to provide the perfect

location for a destination wedding,”

manager Belinda Kuluris said.

“We provide 22 luxurious villas to house

family and guests. The bride and groom

and their guests have exclusive use of the

property for the whole weekend of their

wedding celebrations.

“There is no need to leave the property.

Everyone comes to them and guests don’t

have to venture any further.

“When wedding guests check out, they

always say it was the best wedding they’ve

ever been to as they didn’t have to leave.”

Perricoota Vines Retreat can help organise

every aspect of your wedding from group

breakfasts, the ceremony, reception and

recovery brunches, catering for 100 sit-

down or 150 for a cocktail reception.

Three different ceremony options are

available, with set-up and clean-up

provided, while the reception offers a

selection of different menus, beverage

packages and photography packages.

“Decorations are provided by the bride and

groom as this is usually a very individual

thing,” Belinda said.

Perric oota

Page 67: Wedding Issue 2013

ECHUCA-MOAMA WEDDINGS | 2013-14 67

“It is amazing to see it all come to

fruition, as all the brides we have had

have been very creative and talented

when it comes to adding their own

personal touch.

“We recently had a bride and groom

that were into bikes, so they had antique

bikes in the gardens and hung wheels in

the Vines Lakehouse. Every little detail

was directed towards bikes.

“We work very closely with the bride

and groom to be able to ensure all their

dream and wishes come true and the

day is everything they dreamed it would

be and they are involved in every way

possible.

“All our weddings have been fantastic

and it is so rewarding to have the bride

and groom or parents return or send us

thank-you card expressing their gratitude

for the success of their wonderful day.

“It makes all the hard work in the

preparation and lead up to the actual day

worthwhile.”
