SPORTS The Nebraska Coaches Association all-star games set for July

will not take place, the NCA announced Tuesday afternoon.

"With great sadness, but with the intention of protecting stu-

dent-athletes, coaches, family members and the communities

they live (and) work in, the 2020 all-star games will not be

played," the NCA announced via Twitter. The announcement

came hours after the NCA revealed the players for the boys

basketball game, which was set to feature a pair of first-team

Super-Staters in Lincoln North Star's Donovan Williams

(Oklahoma State) and Omaha Central's Latrell Wrightsell Jr.

(Cal State Fullerton). The games were scheduled to take place

the week of July 20 in Lincoln. The NCA was also scheduled to

host the National High School Athletic Coaches Association

2020 convention in conjunction with the NCA annual multi-sport

clinic July 19-23. That was been postponed to July 26-29, 2021.

Earlier this month, the Shrine Bowl football game, originally

scheduled for June 6 in Kearney, was postponed to a still

undetermined date in July.

Nebraska backup quarterback and Wahoo native Noah Vedral

has decided to leave the Husker football program. Vedral an-

nounced on social media that he was entering the NCAA trans-

fer portal. Vedral began his career at Central Florida and then

followed head coach Scott Frost to Lincoln. Last year he ap-

peared in six games with two starts. He passed for over 400

yards for the Huskers. Vedral has already graduated and has

two years of eligibility remaining.
