STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today chaired a meet- ing of District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) in which 99 cases under Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and JKREGP were approved. DIC, KVIB Kishtwar sub- mitted the loan proposals which included steel fabri- cation, furniture, prepara- tion of Readymade gar- ments, welding, carpentry, electronics & repair, cutting and tailoring, automobiles, readymade garments etc. The committee screened and scrutinised 133 cases out of which 99 were select- ed for credit linkage through financial institu- tions after thorough analy- sis of viability of proposed projects and the entrepre- neurial skills of the appli- cants. The units are expect- ed to generate employment opportunities for around 300 souls. The meeting was attended by ADDC Kishtwar Mohd. Hanief Malik, Lead District Manager Sanjeev Gupta, General Manager DIC Usha Rani, Functional Manager DIC Dr. Mohsin Raza, District Officer KVIB Mohd Iqbal Butt, Supervisor ITI Kishtwar Akhtar Hussain and repre- sentative from JK Bank besides other concerned officers. STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India in col- laboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology- Jammu (SKUAST-J) organ- ised awareness-cum- training programme on medicinal plants here at Sirah village of Painthal block in Reasi distt which was enthusiastically attended by many farmers from different areas of the district. Dr. Mudasar Ahmed, Deputy Director Regional- cum-Facilitation Centre, North II educated the farm- ers on the operational prac- tices of various medicinal plants suitable in Reasi dis- trict. He elaborated the scien- tific cultivation of many medicinal plants such as isbagol, harad, stevia, ashaw- ganda etc. He said that there is great demand of medicinal plants across the globe and farmers can become entre- preneurs in the medicinal plants cultivation. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head, KVK, Reasi said that there is an immense scope of medicinal plants in Reasi dis- trict and farmers can gener- ate more income and employ- ment by growing the medici- nal plants. They asked vari- ous quarries which the team of scientists answered in a satisfactorily way. During the programme Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Dr. Aijaz Ahmed, Dr. Rayees Ahmed Dar, Shahjad Ahmed, Bharat Bushan, awardee farmers Tilak Raj, Gurdev Singh and others were also present. District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Om Parkash Pandey, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Dhananter Singh, ASP, Rajinder Katoch, DSP Traffic, Mujeeb -Ul- Rehman, President Municipal Council, Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta, Chief Education Officer, P.D Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K.C Dogra, Councillors, Sarpanchs and other officers and offi- cials, representatives of Transport Unions, drivers, conductors and prominent people attended the camp. While addressing the gathering, Dr. Samoon said that the objective of organizing this camp is to aware the public about the road safety measures and traffic rules. Stressing on the importance of Safety on Roads, the Principal Secretary said that it is very important for the peo- ple of all age groups to obey the traffic rules and regulations in order to reduce the number of road accidents. He stressed on all the participants especially the drivers to follow the safety guidelines while driving. Dr. Samoon said the role of a driver in the society is very important for the safety of precious lives as lives of passengers depend upon them. He lauded the efforts of District Administration for organ- izing a series of awareness programmes on 'Road safety' and for launching different initiatives regarding road safety and traffic regulations in the district. Principal Secretary appreciated the efforts of DDC Udhampur for taking various initia- tives in traffic manage- ment and control of acci- dents. DDC on the occasion highlighted the importance of road safety and asked the participants to follow the traffic rules and regu- lation. He said that the negligence of driver is the major cause of road acci- dents and we have lost many precious lives due to these. He stressed upon the youth especially driv- ers and commuters to wear helmet and seat belt while driving. He called upon the general public to come for- ward and spread the mes- sage of obeying traffic rules. The camp was sponsored by National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation(NSFDC), Government of India, New Delhi and was inaugurated by G.Q Khatana, General Manager, J&K SC,ST & BC Dev. Corporation, Jammu. The objective of the camp was to make the masses aware about the schemes/programmes of the Corporation and to educate the target groups to avail the welfare schemes of the corpo- ration which are available for them. District Doda to get additional electricity supply STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: District Doda is going to receive additional 4 to 5 hour electricity sup- ply from day after tomor- row as the augmentation work at Udhampur grid station will get completed tomorrow which will reduce the present curtail- ment schedule in suffi- cient manner. Authorities of concerned department informed that district Doda receives its power supply through Udhampur grid station. There is upgradation work going on and the existing transformer which was 120MVA has been upgraded up to 160MVA and the process will get completed tomor- row which was conducted by TLMD division Udhampur. It was further informed that the proposed shut- down on 132KV is on Thursday from 10am-3pm and after that, district Doda will receive addi- tional power supply. GHSS Bhalra conducts Swachhta Pakhwada Students along with faculty posing for a photograph. 12 bovines rescued, smuggler flees STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Police on Tuesday foiled a bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 12 bovines however smuggler man- aged to escape. According to a report, a party of police station Ghagwal intercepted a truck (JK02AH- 5977) on way from Kathua, during the search found it laden with 12 bovines which were rescued. The driver of the truck managed to escape from the spot. Police has taken cognizance in the matter and started investi- gation. STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department destroyed about 40 litres of illicit liquor & 1950 Kgs of Lahan during different raids car- ried out to arrest the men- ace of illicit distillation and sale of liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner M. Raju and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Amarjeet Singh & E.T.O Mohd Rafie Naik, team of excise staff led by Inspector Excise Arun Kumar, Razi Ahmad and Aman Sharma along with SI Amit Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar & Excise Guards Rajinder Singh & Mohd Sharief raided the Kangdyal, Barnoti, Upper Saktachak & Lower Saktachak areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process about 40 litres of illicit liquor & 1950 Kgs of Lahan raw material of illicit liquor was recov- ered by the raiding team from state land & later destroyed on spot. 40 litres of illicit liquor, 1950 Kg of Lahan destroyed Excise sleuths destroying Lahan at Kathua. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Deptt Of Horticulture organised a farmers awareness camp at Thial Block Majalta under the directions of Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur wherein more than 100 farmers participat- ed. Speaking on the occasion HDO Majalta made the farmers aware about differ- ent departmental schemes and also impressed upon female farmers to start self help groups by setting up fruit processing units under the guidance of Horticulture Deptt. DODA: District Doda isgoing to receive additional4 to 5 hour electricity sup-ply from day after tomor-row as the augmentationwork at Udhampur gridstation will get completedtomorrow which willreduce the present curtail-ment schedule in suffi-cient manner.

Authorities of concerneddepartment informed thatdistrict Doda receives itspower supply throughUdhampur grid station.There is upgradationwork going on and theexisting transformerwhich was 120MVA hasbeen upgraded up to160MVA and the processwill get completed tomor-row which was conductedby TLMD divisionUdhampur.

It was further informedthat the proposed shut-down on 132KV is onThursday from 10am-3pmand after that, districtDoda will receive addi-tional power supply.
