It was a wonderful thrill, but it was just terrific. I was very, very grateful,” Mr Zerbe said. Last week’s PRBA dinner, held monthly, was hijacked by guest speakers Inpex general manager Darwin Sean Kildare and Chief Minister Adam Giles, who presented Mr Zerbe with a long-serving blazer. It signified Mr Zerbe’s life membership in the PRBA, which he has represented as president for the past 16 years. It did mean the formal navy blue blazer replaced Mr Zerbe’s highlighter green blaz- er for the evening — which Mr Giles ended up copping over his baby pink shirt. Known for his charismatic personality and lush hair, with not a strand out of place, Mr Zerbe is a man with a deep love of businesses — big or small. “I’m in awe of the people that start them and succeed. I just think it’s terrific that peo- ple can come here and start a business. Sometimes it doesn’t work and if it doesn’t, they turn around and have another crack at it,” Mr Zerbe said. Mr Zerbe started his own business in 1978, producing postcards and books. “I struggled one way or an- other, but we’re still here,” he said. The PRBA was established in 1998 by a group of business- men, Mr Zerbe said. “They needed someone to be president, and I said I would do it for a couple of months. That was 16 years ago.” He said the support of the board members has led to the success of the group, which now has 500 members. “I’ve had massive support. It’s not me, it’s all the others around me. The psyche that exists here, there’s just some- thing about this place. I guess it is part of the isolation, but if you look around the room (at the dinner) there is nothing but success. They all care about their community,” Mr Zerbe said. “I’ve had massive support. WAYNE Zerbe couldn’t de-scribe his feelings with more flair, as expected, after an of-ficial recognition of his time as President on the Palmerston Regional Business Association (PRBA) board last week.

“In short, it was humbling. Itwas a wonderful thrill, but it was just terrific.

It did mean the formal navyblue blazer replaced Mr Zerbe’s highlighter green blaz-er for the evening — which Mr

Giles ended up copping over his baby pink shirt.

Known for his charismaticpersonality and lush hair, with not a strand out of place, Mr Zerbe is a man with a deep love of businesses — big or small.

“I’m in awe of the people that start them and succeed. I just think it’s terrific that peo-ple can come here and start a business. Sometimes it doesn’t work and if it doesn’t, they turn around and have another crack at it,” Mr Zerbe said.

Mr Zerbe started his own business in 1978, producing postcards and books.

“I struggled one way or an-other, but we’re still here,” he said.

“They needed someone tobe president, and I said I would do it for a couple of months. That was 16 years ago.”
