Weebly Guide~ Create your Own Website for Free!

Follow these steps to get started:

Visit: https://www.weebly.com/#signup

Enter your name, email (use school email), make a

password you’ll remember, click “create your site”

Choose “not now” to creating a store online

On future visits just click “log in”

Pick a theme: scroll down and choose the “Explore 14k

theme” (the colors & layout can be changed later)

Click “start editing” at the top right

Select a domain name. Use you & your partners (if applicable) first names and the civilization

name (Example: joeinca).

Make sure it

appears as

available under

“Free with

Weebly

branded”

section. If it’s

not available,

modify the

name! Click

“Choose”

You will receive a message that you have successfully

setup your subdomain name. It will provide you the link

to your website once you publish it.

Your website has been created! Now start making it your own…

Click at the top left on “High Peak” and change the name of your page. Use your name(s) and

the civilization you chose. Example: Joe Smith Inca

Go through and delete all objects from the page before editing anything! Click the Red X on top

right of each box to delete objects. You may have to do this on each page of your site.

At the top choose “Pages” (2nd tab over)

Click on each page and rename to the following:

Home- Location

Services- Food & Farming

About- Government & Daily Life

News- Delete this page, click the + to add a new

“standard” page

Contact- Religion

New Page- What Happened?

Now start designing each page:

Start by choosing the page you want to edit from the tabs at the top & select “Build”

Before adding items to your page change the colors/background:

To change your theme and background colors scroll to bottom of section and choose

“Replace Header Layout”

o Click “Delete” in the replace layout box

o Background should change to white

o Click at the bottom of the section again

and choose “Edit Background”

o Click on the color you’d like

o You can change the color of the

bottom section of the site as well; you can also add text/images here

All of your tools are on the left hand side- Title, Images, Text, etc.

Drag over “Title”- Type in the name of your civilization and your names

Drag over “Image”- find an image (map) on Google images or one of your research

sites/databases

o Save the image to your account or desktop (right click-

save picture as) On your website choose add image and

“upload from computer”, find image and open it to add

to your site

Add “Text”- this is where you type the information/research

you found

When completely finished with your website select “Publish” on top right side

Click the link to visit your page. Print the page for a record of your web address. Provide your

teacher with a copy as well.

Helpful tips:

Change the color of the font by highlighting it and selecting A on the black bar

When adding text or titles you can change the size by clicking the + sign or – sign

Click the red x to delete boxes you added by mistake (on the right corner of the box)

This is your web address!
