TRANSCRIPT
On Friday students in Kindergarten to Year 11 will receive their school
reports. As I looked over the reports, I was struck by how many students
have remarkable results. We are blessed with students who bring a great
attitude to their learning each day. This attitude makes educational excellence
so much more attainable. The report is a summary of your child’s
achievements in the school setting throughout the past semester. Our teachers
have spent many hours preparing, delivering and assessing work. The report
is their considered, professional view of your child’s learning and attributes for
this reporting period. May I urge you to take time to read the report carefully, to
go through the comments, marks and indicators in the report with your child
and to set goals for the next semester? The government has set down a clear
set of criteria for reporting to parents. A “Sound” category is the usual grade.
This category indicates that your child is progressing at a usual rate for children
of their age group.
On Saturday night we had a blast at the WWCC Family Movie Night. Feet were
tapping and dreams of an adventurous life were ignited. Thank you to all who
made the night such a success – especially our Burmese families who blessed
us with wonderful food and those who assisted with popcorn and drinks.
School resumes for students on Monday 30 July (Week B). Staff will be
undertaking a variety of professional development activities during the week of
July 23 to 27. Activities staff will take part in include training in NESA modules
for effective teaching, reviews of various school programs and practices,
connecting with teachers from across NSW in their subject area for
programming, programming in faculty areas, updating first aid qualifications,
Child Protection training and multimedia and technology training. Thank you for
your efforts in enabling us to have this week of essential development. We
concentrate Training and Development days into several clusters to maximise
effectiveness and minimise disruption to families.
Thank you for a great Semester 1,
Mr Hugh MacCallum, Principal

The Wagga School Leaders Program, run by the Committee4Wagga, is a Wagga Wagga initiative to help
Wagga Wagga’s youth to understand and observe leadership within community businesses, while also
enhancing their own leadership skills and finding their place in leadership. Fourteen Year 11 students from high
schools all around Wagga Wagga, including Ella Bergmeier, Calvin Combs and Emily Linn, joined forces to
tackle the program head first. After 5 months of 100% attendance, punctuality and commitment, we graduated
as Wagga School Leaders on the 22 June 2018. This program has taught us many new and constructive ways
to input leadership into the communities we are a part of.
The Year 12 Business studies class have been undergoing an exciting business simulation and experiment in
the last couple of weeks.
Students, as part of a real life employment exercise, had to:
Recruit, interview and select an employee from the student
body to run a business
Establish working conditions and a pay rate to compensate
their employee
Analyse employee productivity and satisfaction
It was great to see over 10 applications from the student body
and watch the Year 12 students find the right candidate, pay
them, encourage them and experience the Human Resource cycle.
Mr Stephen Gilmour, Teacher
Twenty six students participated in the ICAS Digital Technologies Competition, which was held on Tuesday 8

Year 5, and Angus Baker and Harrison Nichols in Year 6.

son both Year 7 and Connor Wilson in Year 10.
Congratulations to all those who were involved!
Last Friday our Stage 3 students competed in the Primary Athletics Carnival here at the College. I was so
impressed with the effort of the students as they ran, jumped and threw all day. Students who came first or
second will be eligible to attend the Christian Schools Sports Association Zone carnival in Dubbo next term.
Special thanks to Mr Cunningham, the staff, student helpers and parents who helped to make the
carnival a huge success!
This week students will be receiving their Semester One report. These will be distributed on Friday afternoon
before the students leave for the holiday break. I encourage you to go through the report with your child and
celebrate their successes, discuss their struggles and help them to plan their approach to Semester Two.
Have a great holiday. We pray that it is a time of relaxation and rejuvenation. I know many families are taking
advantage of the extra week and have taken an extended vacation. We look forward to seeing everyone next
term as we head into Semester Two!
Miss Heather Mansley, Head of Middle School
Our class have been celebrating the, ‘Year of the Bird’ because 2018 marks the centennial of the Migratory Bird
Treaty Act, the most powerful and important bird-protection law passed to date. Students have contributed their
thoughts and have clearly enjoyed their studies.
Strong family-school partnerships enhance student learning and build stronger relationships
Thank you to all those who made Saturday night, WWCC Family Movie Night,
such a special event. With a turnout of approximately 220 people complete with
blankets, bean bags and camping chairs there was an appreciative crowd who
enjoyed the highs and lows of The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman.
The Wagga Wagga Christian Church shared their gifts by providing delicious
fried chicken, curry and rice for dinner.
A massive thank you to Mrs Ahcin Mayit and Mrs Yin Thang Sangdong and their
willing team for all their hard work cooking and serving dinner for us. Thank you
also to College parents Rebekah Wade, the Alcorn family, Teresse Wilkinson,
Jodie Perry and Kate Gillard for serving us through the movie – popcorn, lollies,
drinks and chips! Thank you to all those willing hands who stayed afterwards to
help pack up. A special mention to the Guilfoyle family and the McDonnell
family. Aussie Bob’s ice creams were a great hit! Thank you to Bob Wood for
braving the cold outside to ensure choc tops were available.
It is always wonderful coming together to share fun and relationship. We look
forward to the next opportunity to bring the community together - the College
Bushdance on Saturday 11 August. Save the date!
This Friday 6 July, we are holding a ‘Battle of the Bands’ event at lunchtime,
where various student music bands compete against each other in front of a
judging panel. It promises to be a great time of celebrating and encouraging various
students in their musical gifting. In conjunction with this activity, the student led Music group
and Community and Fundraising groups are working together to raise some funds.
At lunchtime, a sausage sizzle is being organised in the place of the canteen and lunch
orders, with the money raised going to support the Music group. We have decided to
also include an opportunity for students to come to school in casual dress on
the day for the cost of a gold coin, with the money raised going to
support the Hugo family. Karin and Jako Hugo used to be part of our college
community when their son Maureece was in Kindergarten in 2005. The couple
felt God calling them to Kenya as missionaries, primarily with the desire to help
Reinhard Bonnke in his crusades. They work closely with Scripture Union in
this project.
Sausages and a small selection of drinks and snacks will be available at
lunchtime, however, we are asking if the families of Primary
School students (K-6) could please pre-order their lunch to
assist with catering logistics.
We are offering a sausage and a fruit box for $3.00, or $2.50 for
just a sausage. Please note that there will be no lunch orders
available on this day, nor will the canteen be open at
lunchtime. Students will need to bring a packed lunch if
they do not want to order a sausage.

Community and Fundraising, Student Group Coordinator
Seasons for Growth is a group work program for young people who are
struggling with change, separation or loss in and around the family. This
course will run in Term 4, 2018 and expressions of interest will now be

The latest Nurture magazine has been provided to all families. One
copy has been given to the youngest child in each family. Enjoy some
reading over the school holidays.
The Riverina Conservatorium of Music has held
free concerts annually, during Term 2, for some
time now. The concerts are held in different
venues such as churches, the Art Gallery and
community centres. The concerts bring music
covering a wide variety of styles and genres,
highlighting local and regional musicians, and
are always enjoyable. Our school has attended
these concerts for many years, taking groups of
students to listen to professional musicians playing live music. Students gain
much from experiencing this, with a particular benefit in watching performers,
gaining valuable insights into performance craft and etiquette.
Pictured are students who attended the concert featuring Meredith and The Con
Men, held at The Grange Community Centre. The band members were Meredith
Adams on vocals, Wayne Pigram on drums, Jeff Donovan on double bass, and
College parent Lachlan Brown on piano.
