I downloaded 123D Catch application on my iphone and did a practice on Melb-uni water bottle. These are a few snapshots.

My friend took 25 pictures of me from different angles. These are snapshots from my iphone. The digital model of myself is not very clear, perhaps more pictures should be taken to create a higher definition model.

Panel and Fold Sketch Ideas:

Page 3

These are my sketches from Module 1. The first design is inspired by a turtle's costal shield. The second design is inspired by a hedgehog's sharp spines.

I thought my ideas were too simple and generic, so I combined both ideas together to create another design.

Here is the result: The sharp spines like on the model's shoulder keep intruders scared and away from the wearer. The shells on both shoulders give the wearer more protection and strength.

Inflatable: Jason's Idea

I have paired up with Jason to work on Module 2. This is the sketch of his second skin costume design derived from Module 1.

Basically this garment creates a solid physical protection for the wearer. It protects the most important organs and bones such as heart, lungs, skeletal bones and more.

I have further looked at some examples of how inflatable system is merged with fashion. The 'Boat Dress' is an inflatable dress designed by an Australian artist, Jacqueline Bradley.

These suits are called Buddy Bumper Balls designed to allow kids to move around and bounce off each other. These balls protect them from injuries from falls as they are fully covered and cushioned by the inflated bubble wrap. I think these suits can keep people from coming too close to the wearer.

I was inspired by these examples and so created a few designs on the next page.

This puffy outfit will keep other people away from the wearer's personal space.

Lady Gaga is a big fan for origami dresses and so as many famous high end brands such as Calvin Klein, Christian Lacroix and Roland Mouret; they all had done origami fashion on their runways.

Taking inspiration from Lady Gaga's red carpet origami outfits, I created a few costume designs which are shown in the next page.

Merging Panel and Fold with Inflatable System:

After a meeting with Jason, we have finally agreed on this second skin costume design. Not only the costume helps protect the wearer physically, it also keeps the wearer feeling secured and strong.

This is a try out sample model of the shoulder piece. After making it, I realised that it is quite hard to control where I want the paper to stay or bend.
