2020 has and continues to be an extraordinarily different year for us in education. A year

that has presented many challenges in schools and of course the wider community. The

challenges in schools however have typically been conquered, ad-

versity tackled and true agility demonstrated in how we privilege

the learning and wellbeing of our students.

As we approach the conclusion of this very challenging year, we

know that fatigue and 'busy-ness' can creep in and distract us from

what matters most. It is imperative we stay the course until the very

end. Doing the right work. One thing at a time.

Sun Smart Schools

Charleville State School is a sun smart school. Students are outside during the hottest

part of the day and need proper protection from the sun. Starting in 2021 all students will

be required to wear a broad brimmed hat when outside.

The school will provide each student one royal blue bucket hat for this purpose.

If students do not have a broad brimmed hat they will be required to play uncover/indoors.

End of Year—Student Free Days

In recognition of the extraordinary efforts

of school-based staff during the COVID-

19 health pandemic, the 2020 school

year will end early.

The last two days of the school year —

for Charleville Schools the designated

student free days will be Thursday 3 and Friday 4 December 2020.

enjoy this wonderful event together.

Together we can grow our community

On 4/11/20 Murweh Youth Council members from Charleville State High School and Charleville State School visited the new SQRH building for a special Murweh Youth Council meeting for term 4. We were lucky enough to talk to the Director of SQRH Geoff Argus via ZOOM using the new conference room facilities. After our meeting, Interprofessional Practice Coordinator Toni Murray was so very kind to us and showed us around the building. We saw beautiful landscape pic-tures taken from Mt Tabor that were placed along the hallways, got to test out the soundproof telehealth rooms and visit the mannequin patients in the health prac rooms. Big thank you to SQRH and to Jenny Peacock from the HOPE Pro-gram for having us, also to Katie and Chappy for getting us there.

Youth Council is open to anyone that would like to have a voice and have their say, suggesting things for the youth in our community. Next year we will be working on a goal statement for the Youth Council, to look at what are we trying to achieve as a committee, so if students have any enquiries or ideas please feel free to contact a member of the Committee.

The next meeting will be held in Week 5, Term 1 2021.
