6th ANNUAL GRADUATION CEREMONY

Fort William First Nation Chief and Council would like to

honour all Band Members that have graduated from Grade

8, 12, GED and Post Secondary educations for the

2015 year. We are extending an

invitation to all graduating band members to a feast August

10th, 2015 Symposium to commence at 5:00PM. The

ceremony will be held at the Community Hall, all students

in attendance will be honored with a gift from our Chief

and Council. Attendance is mandatory; FWFN will require

documentation for proof of graduation.

Programs:

Program Award Descriptions: The Fort William First Nation Education Award program has been created as an incentive and reward for students who are graduating from a respective award category. More information on each category is available. The Casino Rama Education awards are separate from the regular FWFN graduating awards.

Program Award Eligibility: Member of the Fort William First Nation. Selection is based primarily on academic excellence. Awards will be given

• Knowledge of Parks Canada’s vision, mandate and corporate objectives especially as they relate to national marine conservation areas;

FWFN Snack Program The Education Department is in the initial stages of implementing a grab and go snack bag for students from JK to Grade 12. The funding is not 100% secure but we are in the preparation stages for the program.

If your child is registered they will receive a snack bag prepared in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide, and program guidelines. We hope to have this program start the first week of school.

Shayla and another student will be going door to door in the community to give a brief explanation and to help you complete the registration forms. Only children registered will be able to participate.

Fort William First Nation Elementary and Secondary School Age School children Nutritional Snack Program

GENERAL INFORMATION The program is open to all children who reside on Fort William First Nation and who are attending elementary or secondary school. The snacks are available for children who are on the school bus and will be given directly to those children. Children who are driven to school can pick up their snack bags at a different location. Bags must be picked up by the children. Parents cannot pick up the snack bags. Children may not take more than the allotted amount per child. DIETARY NEEDS AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS It is the parent/guardians responsibility to disclose any special dietary needs or medical conditions. WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM The Student Nutrition Coordinator will withdraw a child from the program if either the child or parent/guardian is involved in:

• Unacceptable behaviour toward other students or adult in the program • Disrespectful behaviour towards the employee or their assistants. • Unacceptable language • Throwing food • Children not going to school • Causing or making a mess • Refusal to get back on to the school buses in an orderly fashion • Eating the food on the school bus (students are not allowed to consume food on the school bus,
