SUMP PUMP MAINTENANCE

THE HOUSING DEPT. WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL HOMEOWNERS TO VISUALLY INSPECT THEIR SUMP PUMPS TO INSURE THEY ARE WORKING PROPERLY. BELOW ARE SOME TIPS REGARDING SUMP PUMP MAINTENANCE.

- MAKE SURE THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY IS ON AND PUMP IS PLUGGED IN. - CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE FLOAT ON YOUR PUMP IS ABLE TO MOVE

FREELY. IF THE FLOAT IS OBSTRUCTED, YOUR PUMP MAY FAIL TO START. - GO OUTSIDE AND CHECK THAT THE PUMP IS ACTUALLY DISCHARGING

WATER. SOMETIMES THE PUMP WILL RUN, BUT WILL NOT PUMP ANY WATER OUT.

- LISTEN FOR ANY STRANGE NOISES COMING FROM THE PUMP MOTOR. - CHECK FOR DEBRIS IN THE SUMP PIT. DEBRIS CAN CLOG THE PUMP OR

PREVENT THE FLOAT FROM RISING TO ACTIVATE PUMP. - CHECK THE DISCHARGE LINES/HOSES. FOR LEAKS AND LOOSE

CONNECTIONS. - BEFORE ANY ANTICIPATED HEAVY RAINFALL, CHECK YOUR SUMP PUMP ,

THIS CAN BE EASILY DONE BY POURING WATER INTO THE SUMP PIT TO INSURE THE PUMP IS OPERATING. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT THE HOUSING DEPARTMENT. FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY, CONTACT HOUSING MAINTENANCE AT 633-3959 OR 472-8844. JOE MORRISEAU FWFN HOUSING MAINTENANCE 623-9543 EXT 263
