Hyperactive Pioneer Picnic Committee took a somewhat reluctant bow Sunday! And where’s Marilyn??? So many projects . . .

ake a bow, Sharon! Here we see Sharon Kohler (at the microphone) recounting some of the last six years of historical and memorial projects undertaken by the Pioneer Picnic Association in conjunction with the annual picnic held since 1913, before Camas was even a county! The committee has been involved in the development and fundraising for a new historical sign at the Johnson Hill Overlook, which is now finished

and nearing installation, thanks to generous donors. The committee’s completed checklist also includes digital re-publication of two books long out of print, the Lasting Legacy book and the historical book by John Ryan, the development of a historical timeline display dreamed up and wrangled by Beulah Baldwin, and the pairing of a watercolor sequence by Jodie Ivie with the carved legend plank from the otherwise missing George Carrico overlook sign! In addition to Sharon, the committee suspects lined up above are, left to right, Jack Varin, Beulah Baldwin, Marshall Ralph, Linda Carman, Mickey Dalin, Ed Reagan, and Lorena Heath, who is gazing toward Corral, for some reason. And hey, where’s Marilyn Dillard????? This appearance at the microphone was a valedictory announcement for Sharon, who is stepping down from the committee’s leadership, and Linda, who is retiring from her long role as treasurer and secretary for the historic committee. Thanks, you two!
