He then continued and said the primary target this year is to improve awareness, information and promotion of the RCBS utilizing the Club’s newly updated ‘Clubrunner’ website in terms of: • quality • actuality • relevancy • time management • efficiency • effectiveness • workflow • teamwork • usability • creativity • consideration of all ideas of all members of RCBS

Membership Committee – Chairperson Rtn. Marie Francoise

Rtn. Marie Francoise told the members that she was very PLEASED to be Chairperson of the Membership Committee this year, but that she had a BIG job ahead of her. D3420 has asked the RCBS to achieve a NET gain of FIVE new members this year. This means by 30 June 2015 the Club should have 55 ‘active’ members. Honorary members – though a very important to the Club – are not counted in this final tally. Every year the club loses 5 to 10 members – for many different reasons. So with this challenge – the RCBS MUST look for at least 10 new members during the 2014 – 2015 year. Three years ago, RI gave D3400 the opportunity to divide into two Districts: D3410 and D3420. If the RCBS along with the other 50 + Clubs in D3420 are not able to reach the 1,250 member goal, RI may ask D3420 to join D3410 and become ONE District again. This would be a real pity because as a smaller ‘geographical’ area, D3420 Clubs / Members receive more attention from their District officers.

She said that she recently read that Internationally only 10% of Rotarians look for NEW members !!! Luckily, the RCBS’s average is around 25% - BUT she would like to see each one of our members invite a family member, a friend, a colleague and / or a business associate to several of our Weekly meetings, Project / Vocational Fellowship outings and then persuade them to join us. “What we are doing for the community is OUTSTANDING and in addition – we have fun along the way completing our Projects. Honestly speaking, I wished I had joined Rotary several years ago.” In concluding her talk, she said, “Let’s make the RCBS the Largest, Best and ‘Fun-est’ in D3420. Please - HELP me …..”

Pubic Relations & Fundraising Committee – Chairperson VP PP John G. Public Relations Committee: This committee is made up of PP Robin, PP Anita and myself. We had two meetings even before the new Rotary Year began and a lot of preliminary work has been undertaken. 1. We applied for a budget of IDR 20 million from the Board and this was approved. 2. We now have a final drawing of the sign that will be displayed outside Warisan advertising our Rotary meetings and this is expected to be made and erected within the next four weeks. We also want to put a sign in Nusa Penida about our Micro-credit (Goat) Project. 3. We also now have the final drafts of a colour advertisement and a black and white advertisement , which will serve as basic adverts to be placed in the Bali Advertiser and other local magazines advertising our weekly meetings and activities. In this regard we expect to write shortly to all the local magazines and newspapers seeking free or very cheap advertising for our club and Rotary.

4. We have sent a final draft letter to President Doris for sending to all the sponsors and

donors of the Cocoon Fundraiser, wherein we raised over IDR 185 million. This letter basically thanks them for their continued support and updates them on the future Smile Foundation plans and what has happened to their money. It also encloses photos of some recent patients before, during and after their operations.

5. The Club website (formerly called the ‘ClubRunner ‘) is now being updated with regular

news and titbits for all Rotarians to see. 6. The District award-winning Bulletin prepared by Secretary CP Patrick is being published

every week and posted on the Club website. 7. Further Rotary T-shirts are now being designed and prepared advertising our club and

Rotary so that we will have a stock of ordinary Rotary T-shirts to wear when attending working projects, and a stock of more formal Rotary polo shirts for Rotary functions.

8. We have secured the media list from last year and the donor/sponsor lists from the Cocoon

fundraiser. 9. We are considering a media lunch to introduce our club to media representatives and to let

them hear about our Service Projects. 10. PP Robin is writing blogs on the Anglo Info website pushing our club and rotary and we

hope to have a Rotary advert also on the home page soon. We also intend to write articles for other magazines about our club and Rotary.

11. We will be approaching you again for your bios and this time we will send you your old bio for updating and publication as the exercise last time only had one response.

12. We now have dvds, which will be shown at lunch meetings to remind members of what

Rotary is all about and to show you Rotary in action in other countries. 13. We will be having an exercise during one lunch meeting where members will be asked to

write what they would say in 3 minutes to someone in a lift if they were asked about Rotary.

The PR Committee is working hard to keep you better informed about your club and Rotary and to advertise our club and projects so that our club will become even more famous in Bali and attract more members. Fundraising Committee: The FR Committee is made up of Rtns. Jan, Marie Francoise, John vG and myself. Rtn. Claudette will join us as a member when she returns to Bali. PE Barb, VP Yuki, Secretary CP Patrick, PP Robin, Rtn. Florian, Rtn. Peter E. and HM Mary Northmore have all kindly agreed to serve as advisors. We also have the following Rotarians who have agreed to be on call for project assistance, Rtns Sally, Virginie, Diana and Pamela. The Service Projects Committee has given the FR Committee its Board approved targets for fundraising this year. Our current projects are the Smile Foundation, the Helen E. Newman Scholarship Project, the Micro-credit (Goat) Project in Nusa Penida and the Elementary School Library Book project. Even before the Rotary year started, the FR Committee already had three meetings in order to be able to start the year well ahead of schedule. In addition, we have already formed subcommittees for individual fundraisers.

1. Meetings have already taken place with the Grand Hyatt and Sofitel hotels for a planned dinner dance, or a dinner theatre, in support of the Smile Foundation. We have also been in touch with a Hong Kong theatre company and it is willing to come to Bali and give a show for our fundraiser free of charge.

2. Rtns. Detlev and Lusi will continue holding their Sunday Brunches for the Smile Foundation.

They raised over IDR 75 million last year.

3. Rtn. Steffen is working hard in Germany raising funds as an ambassador of our Club. Last year he raised about US$ 80,000 for the Smile Foundation.

4. The possibility of a Hole-in-One golf tournament Project is being actively investigated. We

plan to offer a luxury car as a prize, or a prize of a similar value in order to attract national and international golfers to the competition. The risk can be insured and it should be less than 3.75% of the value of the prize.

5. There will be a Salsa Evening on Friday, 25 July 2014 for raising funds for the Helen E.

Newman Scholarship Project. We hope to raise about IDR 10 million. This project will fund

only part of the funds needed to meet this year’s target for sponsoring 20 High School students and one College student from Nusa Penida.

6. A Bike-A-Fund will be held in October this year to raise funds for providing 600 Library

books to two Elementary Schools, as the government provides few books for this age group.

7. We are also looking at ways to raise funds for the Micro-credit (Goat) project, as the Service

Projects Committee wants to replace the seven goats lost at the beginning of the project and supply 20 additional goats to Nusa Penida. In this regard Rtns. Peter and Claudette are working hard visiting Rotary Clubs in Switzerland and The Netherlands trying to raise funds for this project.

8. We are also giving consideration to non-event fundraising by seeking direct donations. In

this regard we have already secured a sponsor for one Nusa Penida child for a year.

9. An approach will be made to the Australian Consulate-General in Bali as they have indicated interest in supporting projects from a government fund (DAP).

10. Other possible fundraising ideas such as a quiz night, a sunset cruise, a theatre night in

the Nua Dua theatre have been considered.

11. We will now proceed with Board approved advertising on the Home page of our own website for fundraising revenue.

You can therefore see that your Fundraising Committee is working hard to raise funds for this year’s service projects and we cautiously hope to raise much more than the targets we have been given. Service Projects Committee – Chairperson VP Yuki

Strategic Planning for Three Years (2014-2017)

• Successfully carry out and enhance the current major projects.

• Start new projects. • Obtain international partners to start Global

Grant Projects. • Raise enough funds to support projects in

coordination with the Fundraising Committee (FRC).

• Involve more club members in the projects.

VP Yuki concluded his very informative talk by saying that the RCBS needs more Projects. Two Projects the RCBS had been involved with previously: Low-income Housing and the Costal Cleanup, should both be re-evaluated and possibly become projects again this year. Rotary Foundation Committee – Chairperson PP Anita

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is the heart of the Rotary organization. It links its 1.3 million members to the network of assistance internationally and to one’s own club through funding for District Grants, Global Grants and Packaged Grants. The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, we tap into a global network of fellow-Rotarian who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact. The scope of TRF encompasses funding for:

• Endowment Fund • Polio Plus • Promoting Peace • Fighting Disease • Providing clean water • Saving Mothers and Children • Supporting Education • Growing Local Economies

Your contribution of US$ 100 each year helps these areas and also entitles members for Paul Harris Fellow recognition with each contribution of US$ 1,000, either all at once or accumulatively through he Annual Fund Share. It is the goal of RCBS this year that every member contribute at least US$ 100. Every three years 50% of the club contribution is returned to the club for use of projects through the District Designated Funds (DDF). You can either give your US$ 100 cash contribution or more to TRF Chairperson, PP Anita or make your contribution directly online. To make an Online / credit card (CC) contribution, please go to: www.rotaryinternational.org, click ‘GIVE’, click ‘GIVE NOW’, SIGN IN or Create an Account, check the first option - ‘Annual Fund and SHARE GIFT,’ click ‘continue’, Enter Gift Details (CC mailing address), click ‘continue’, and then follow the billing details ….. In concluding her talk, PP Anita thanked P Doris (US$ 1,200) and Rtn. Florian (US$ 300) for being the FIRST two members in our Club to contribute to the TRF this year. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the TWO of you for getting the ball rolling …….
