Just before Christmas, the Childrenof EMaUs had a wonderful Christmasparty at levis showboat in theRincon, benidorm, hosted by Wayneand des (owners of levis showboat)and helped very much by their cofund raiser Paul Thacker (owner ofFoleys bar Rincon). I went along tospeak to them all and find out moreabout the hard work and the very gener-ous local ex pats and holiday visitors thatdonated money and gifts for the children. The money raised was to provide newbedding for each child. The Weekly BuzzChristmas raffle in December alsohelped to raise money for the beddingfund. The plan was to wait for the deals inJanuary and then go shopping. Sowhere were the best bargains? Yep yougot it “PRIMARK”Wayne, Des and Paul went together to

spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy revised up his2014–2015 jobs growth forecast on sunday as thecountry heads deeper into election territory.

Spain will have created one million jobs in two years bythe end of 2015, said a bullish Rajoy in a wide-ranginginterview with Spanish news agency Efe on Sunday. This is up from the previous forecast of 800,000 new jobsfor the 2014 and 2015 period.

During the interview, the Spanish leader stuck to his 2percent growth forecast for 2015. However, he said atotal of 550,000 to 600,000 people would join Spain'sworkforce this year. Official government data released inDecember revealed 417,574 signed onto the country'ssocial security system in 2014.

However, the total number of people registered as look-ing for work at the country's unemployment offices stoodat a very high 4,447,711, while a separate survey ofhouseholds run by the country's national statisticsagency put that figure at 5.4 million in the third quarter of2015.

The unemployment issue remains one of the key con-cerns of many Spaniards and the creation of new jobscould prove essential to election chances of Rajoy's rul-ing Popular Party.

While the Spanish economy is now among the fastest-growing in Europe, the benefits of that growth are notbeing shared by the jobless.

sPaNIsH ECONOMy TOGROW 2 PERCENT IN 2015,

The International Monetary Fund(IMF) improved its growth forecastfor spain for the sixth time in arow on Tuesday, predicting thatthe economy would expand 2% in2015.

Only Spain and the United Statessaw their prospects revised upwardsin an otherwise pessimistic reportthat lowered global economic growthforecasts to 3.5% for 2015 and 3.7%for 2016, a 0.3% drop for each year. The new figures were released aspart of the IMF’s latest WorldEconomic Outlook report, which isproduced quarterly. The organization’s forecast coin-

cides with Prime Minister MarianoRajoy’s own claims about Spanisheconomic growth this year.A yearago, the IMF was talking about just0.8% growth in Spain for 2015.

Now, the world body is more opti-mistic about Spain at the same timeas it is revising the growth prospectsfor all other euro zone economiesdownwards. For 2016, the IMF is predicting thatSpain’s economy will expand at aslower pace of 1.8%.Unemployment remains the darkspot on Spain’s record. In October oflast year, the IMF forecast that130,000 jobs would be created this

year, significantly fewer than the348,000 announced by the PopularParty government.Recovery does appear to be a realityin the financial markets, with govern-ment 10-year bond yields reachinghistoric lows of 1.47% in the second-ary market on Monday.

U3a MaRINa baIxa aNNUalGENERal MEETING:

VANDALISM AT THE HISTORICPLAZA DEL CASTELL

Five years have passed since the inauguration of thehistoric open space, built on the site of the demol-ished old school in Villajoyosa. It used to be a large square with beautiful plants, greatviews to the Amadorio River and lighting. Apparentlythere is a security camera installed, but the area isattacked every day by vandals who have damaged andbroken the facilities. Now the once beautiful place has been neglected. Thereis practically no vegetation and the fountains no longerflow. The public toilets cannot be used because theyhave been destroyed. One of the informative panels hasdisappeared, and the other two are really old and cannotbe read properly. Almost every spotlight has its protectiveglass destroyed, and many have no bulbs. The vandalsare playing a game to break the glass into very littlepieces in order to ‘decorate’ the bronze scale model, which shows a reconstruction of the historic centre ofVillajoyosa in medieval times. The square was built with a budget of €1.58 million, and

now requires a solu-tion in order to pre-serve the lights thatare left and the fewtrees still standing, and to restore thisspace to how it waswhen it was opened.

Jaime selles, Head of Citizen safety and Traffic inaltea, announced on 16th January the beginning of acampaign to remove abandoned vehicles from thestreets. This campaign has already started and will beextended until the 31st January. The Local Police willremove all abandoned cars and will start will the legalproceedings for them to be scrapped at the municipalyard.Jaime Selles said: “All owners will be liable for the aban-doned vehicles and will be notified and denounced”.

after many years and millions of Euros invested inthe water front area of altea, the proposed beacharea at the old lagoon has again begun to smell reallybad. This is due to the lack of drainage caused by therecent works to prepare the area for the long awaitedbeach. Local businesses alongside the lagoon are start-ing to lose customers. On the 13th JanuaryEnvironmental agency officers took samples from thewater wearing protective suits and masks, the results ofwhich are still pending. Looking into the water of thelagoon, residents and tourist could even see faeces andsaid the smell was “absolutely disgusting” and was put-ting them off visiting the area.

In November 2014, representatives from Altea Town Hallhad a meeting with the business managers of the prom-enade area, in order to speak about the cycle path andthe problems with the lagoon. They only spoke about thecycle path and the managers asked when they weregoing to know something about the disgusting smells thatwere coming out of the water. The Town Hall representa-tives replied that they were going to make a new appoint-ment in December to find a solution for the problem, but

they never contacted the businesses. On Friday 16th January some of the affected businessmanagers had a meeting at The Lock Stock Bar & Grill,to find out why the Town Hall had not contacted themsince November. The managers of The Lock Stock,Guantanamera Cocktail Bar, Pizza 4 U, EnjoyRestaurant, Sunset Bar and Coffee Aux Delices decidedto go to the Town Hall to see Pedro Barber (head of CicloHídrico) or the Mayor, but they were unable to meeteither of them. The Town Hall secretary said they wouldcall them as soon as possible. The situation on the Altea sea front is still ongoing, andthe affected parties are still awaiting an appointment.

The Partido Popular (PP) has recently saidthat benidorm Town Hall “lacks organiza-tion and coordination” due to problems inthe recently improved area of ‘Vicentellorca alos’. The improvements cost around€217,000 and they now have to do extradrainage works in the same area, which willcost another €120,000.Jose Ramon Gonzalez de Zarate, Head of PPBenidorm, stated that it would be cheaper ifboth Departments (Urban Matters and Water)had worked together. The Town Hall repliedstating that the works will only affect an area of

two square meters, and will not cause anyproblems.

a 17 year-old girl rescued on 15th January at the ‘Palau d’Esports de l’Illa’ inbenidorm remains in a “serious, but stable, condition” said a spokespersonfrom Hospital Marina baixa. They had to induce hypothermia to lower her body tem-perature in order to protect her brain, until they wake her up to check if she has suf-fered any injury. This procedure will help her brain neurons to rest, and will also avoid

any possible injuries getting worse. The young girl is from Calpe and swims in many competitions. She was practicing freediving apnea exercises when staff realized she could not return to the surface by her-self. When rescued; the girl was unconscious and was stabilized before being trans-ferred to hospital.

If you like great food, then you will absolutely love thisplace… it's tranquil, spacious and the staff are not onlyfriendly, but they are also very professional and makeyour visit an experience that can only be recommendedto all of your family and friends.

The cuisine offers a wide range of international dishes, including top favourites from across Europe. The Buzzteam went along to meet Christophe (the owner) and histeam to discover more about the cuisine at RestaurantNuevo Alcazar.

The open dining room leads out onto the terrace, with itscentrepiece water feature. The main restaurant is splitover two levels. The decor is attractive colonial style withdecorative pillars and leather upholstered furniture. Thetable setting is stylish and is complemented with a levelof service that is impeccable. The choice of starters is extensive, and there are cold

and warm options, plus a selection of homemade soups. We chose Carpaccio of Beef Rossini (served with gooseliver gratin and truffle oil dressing) and a Trio of Seafood(a combination of North Sea Shrimps, king prawns andscampi). The Carpaccio melted in your mouth and in factthe toast served on the side was forgotten, as the meatwas so good it really wasn't needed. The Seafood Triowas the perfect choice for a healthy, light dish. It wasfresh and cool, with a smooth and tasty dressing, wellpresented and extremely enjoyable.

The menu offers the best variety of fish that I have seen

anywhere locally, turbot, cod, monkfish and salmon areall there, as well as other options. I was tempted, but forme the main course had to be the beef. My fillet wasserved with a red wine sauce and goose liver pate. TheRack of Lamb was appealing, but I just love my steak, cooked medium it was fabulous and was served withcauliflower and a potato cake. Our other main coursewas Fillet of Pork, with onion and pear in a cognac andcream sauce, served with a choice of sauté potatoes andFrench fries on the side.

There is also fresh lobster on the menu (in a choice offive varieties) plus a Children's menu with a good selec-tion of tasty favourites.

The chef, JavierBoccalandro and his teamcombine French, Belgian, and Mediterranean cuisineinto enticing dishes, pre-pared with only the bestfresh ingredients. They areaccustomed to serving a fullrestaurant of nearly 200 cov-ers most evenings, with visi-tors coming back time aftertime.

In the restaurant I noticedthere was a table which was set up for agroup of 20, and Christophe explainedthat they host a variety of parties mostevenings. They also have their own exten-sive wine cellar with over 100 Spanishand French wines that complement theexcellent service and exceptional setting.

The magnificent Nuevo Alcazar is locatedon the CV70, on Roundabout number 6coming from Benidorm towards La Nucia.A first class recommendation from us atthe Buzz Newspaper.

“Nice Food and Great staff...”Reviewed 4 January 2015We had passed this restaurant on our first visit but didnt go inand this time we decided that this time we would have a meal.

The staff were very friendly and took our orers and drinks withno hassel.

The food was nice and were even asked how we wanted ourburgers cooked which for us is great as then we know its prop-er steak and not cheap crap..

All in all the food was great and the prices were reasonable.

“Nice food.”Reviewed 1 January 2015American style ribs, burgers and steaks, everyone had a goodfill at a reasonable price. The staff speak perfect English agood evening out

“very poor”Reviewed 30 december 2014Made the mistake of spending our last evening in this place, every restuarant we ate at we checked tripadvisor unfortunate-ly we didnt on our last night. Trust me all the bad reviews ofthe food are in line with our experience, the onion ring brick ofgrease and €8.50 jalapeno deep, deep, deep fried starter theawful steak with horrible bean sauce and the chicken thing.Staff could tell by the half full plates left that we were notimpressed. Luckily for the waitresses you are charged for serv-ice on the bill so we just payed the €55 and left. If this placedidnt have unsuspecting tourist trade it wouldnt last threemonths! On the upside the staff were polite enough and thestandard of food isn't their fault and they also put the calor gasfire at our table as well.

“Ribs and chips”Reviewed 20 October 2014Visited TRs with some friends as it was very close to the hotel.Found the restaurant to be huge but fairly empty which did notmake for a great atmosphere. The 6 of us all had Ribs as ourmain course and although we all enjoyed them I would not saythere were world class. The bill was reasonable but would notrecommend and if asked I would say an American form of aHarvester.

“"Classy restaurant to suit everyone"”Reviewed 30 december 2014We visited Rondo's twice while we were on our 10 day villa hol-iday in Moraira in August 2014. On both occasions we receiveda warm welcome from all members of staff including the owner,Dave who ensured he came to greet us all once we were seat-ed.

To follow this, the rest of the staff members were equally asfriendly; checking we had all we needed, and that the food wasokay. The food was of excellent quality, not one of us were ableto find a fault with it. It was an added bonus that it was alsovery fairly priced, as well as the wine we enjoyed.

Due to how much we enjoyed the meal ad hospitality, we hadno choice but to book another trip the following Friday once therest of the family had arrived - 3 of which were vegetarians. They were also thrilled with the meals they had and the greatservice we received once again, not to mention all of the vege-tarian options available to them.

It was all round a delightful experience on both occasions, alovely family feel restaurant.

One more thing - booking in advance is highly recommendedas it's clearly a hit with the locals!

“Rondo's always has my vote whendeciding where to go!”

Reviewed 26 November 2014One of my favourite restaurants to eat at when on holiday.Come here every year and not had a bad meal! The food is incredible and very fresh! They are also very accommodating for customers with foodallergies/intolerances.

“best sandwiches in Town”Reviewed 1 January 2015Happened to go to this Dutch run restaurant as it is near thegolf academy. It became a habit to have the smoked salmonand cream cheese sandwiches - wonderfully presented anddelicious. The furniture is comfortable and the staff were alwaysfriendly and attentive.

“What a surprise!”Reviewed 22 October 2014We were staying at a hotel in Albir where meals were inclusiveand got bored by the food. After a couple of days we found 'It'sa Small World' by accident, and we couldn't keep away fromthe place. Great English speaking waiters, and small but verygood menu. The salads and fish dishes were especially to ourliking. The dinner plates that the food was served on weresplendid (we eat with our eyes don't we?) and the food reallygood. We loved their soups too - tomato and onion with freshcrusty bread. There wasn't a lot of room for deserts but we hadto try their speciality - lots of hot, small round pancakes servedwith a sprinkling of icing sugar, and dollup of butter.Reallyyummy. Good value specials at lunchtime too. Highly recom-mend this place.

“Excellent salad!”Reviewed 2 september 2014We ate here one night and I ordered the chicken and goat'scheese salad which was one of the best salads I have everhad! My husband's burger was very good and the chickensatay from the children's menu was excellent. The service wasa little slow, there was no drinks menu and when we orderedbread we were told they had run out, but overall the food wasvery good and reasonably priced.

“Great again !!”Reviewed 15 august 2014I have been coming to Albir and Small World for years , themenu may not change but neither does the quality of the foodor service . Try the chicken sate and grandmas poffertjes youwont be dissapointed.

According to the conclusions contained in the JanuaryMulti-Country Report published by the InternationalMonetary Fund (IMF), housing prices appear to have bot-tomed out in Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands andSpain. The report noted that "the metrics suggest thathousing prices in Spain, Ireland, Denmark and theNetherlands have come to or may be near their lowestpoint". The report, which looks at the condition of the realestate market in these countries, where housing hasundergone a significant devaluation in recent years, highlights that the four countries included in the analysisall share a similar institutional environment (a commonmonetary policy and the EU's institutional framework). The IMF stressed that the price collapse has been morepronounced in Spain and Ireland, and at the same timereiterated that these two countries also suffered higherrates of unemployment, brought about by the strongdecline in the construction sector. They said that "Irelandand Spain were hit harder because, having built moreduring the boom years, the price decline has beenaccompanied by a rise in unemployment and a halt inconstruction activity".

The international institution indicated that actual housingprices point to stabilisation in the Netherlands, and that

slight increases have even been registered in Denmarkand Ireland. However, they pointed out that the houseprice cycle has left all four countries with significant gapsin output and elevated levels of private sector debt andthat there is still some "uncertainty" and certain "risks"that could alter the path of recovery, such as a rise ininterest rates, which currently remain unusually low.

The decline in housing prices has alsoaffected consumption. Household debtincreased due to the real estate boom(these countries recorded strong priceincreases during the period from 2000 to2007, driven by very accessible financingconditions) and, during the crisis, families'real estate assets have been reduced, according to the IMF report. Residentialand non-residential investment have alsobeen affected, while the financial institu-tions have implemented stricter conditionsfor gaining access to finance.

According to the Fund, these four coun-tries are now facing the double challengeof reviving the sector and combating the

effects of the crisis, and in order to do so, in addition tomeasures already undertaken to facilitate the recoveryprocess, they should introduce further reforms such ascalling for more monetary and fiscal policies, promotingthe rental market, tax and pension reforms to combat thelack of liquidity, and adopting policies that facilitate moreefficient restructuring of debts, amongst other things.

Sierra Nevada (meaning "snowy range" in Spanish) is amountain range in the region of Andalucia, provinces of Granada and Almería in Spain. It contains the highest point of con-tinental Spain, Mulhacén at3,478 metres (11,411 ft) abovesea level.

Sierra in Spanish means theteeth of a saw, which peaks of amountain range may resemble.

It is a popular tourist destination,as its high peaks make skiing possible in one of Europe'smost southerly ski resorts, in an area along theMediterranean Sea predominantly known for its warmtemperatures and abundant sunshine. At its foothills isfound the city of Granada and, a little further, Almería andMálaga.

Parts of the range have been included in the SierraNevada National Park. The range has also beendeclared a biosphere reserve. The Sierra NevadaObservatory and the IRAM radiotelescope are located onthe northern slopes at an elevation of 2,800 metres(9,200 ft).

sierra Nevada ski station

Sierra Nevada is Europe’s southernmost ski station, andthe highest in Spain. With its high elevation, the skiingseason can last from late November until early May.Particularly towards the end of the season you can enjoylong, sunny days of skiing, although wind can be a prob-lem due to Veleta's prominence and few trees. The resortis situated 27 km (17 mi.) from the city of Granada, andis accessed by the A-395. It is also less than 100 km fromMotril, on the Costa Tropical, which means skiing andswimming on the same day is an option. Nearest biggercity is Malaga, is accessed by the highway A-7/Europeanroute E15 (Malaga-Motril), highway A44/ European routeE902 (Motril-Granada) and then route Granada-SierraNevada Ski Station.

At the foot of the slopes there is a resort village,Pradollano, which stretches up a hill to the north of thepistes. The bottom of the village is at about 2100 metresabove sea level, while the top is at almost 3400 metresabove sea level. Pradollano is home to a large number ofshops, including many that sell or rent ski equipment, souvenir shops and a small supermarket. There is also avariety of ski schools, restaurants, cafés, bars and night-clubs.

The mid-station Borreguiles, which is served by twocable cars that run from the bottom of Pradollano, is at2675 m (8776 ft). Here there are a few cafés and restau-rants, a ski school, a few hire shops and lockers.

The resort is run by a private-public enterprise calledCetursa Sierra Nevada, S.A..

By far the main attraction for visitors tothe resort is the 100 km (62 mi.) ofalpine skiing runs. With abundantsnow, it is possible to ski almosta n y -

mountain, as the wholeresort is above the treeline. It should be noted thatthe resort does not carryout avalanche blasting, andskiers are generallyadvised against leaving thepistes due to avalancherisk. As the resort mainlycaters to locals, and less topeople visiting for a wholeweek, it is much busier atweekends. There are rarelyany queues mid-week out-side the main Spanish holi-days (first week ofDecember, Christmasthrough to 6 January andEaster). Even at weekends, queues are generally fairlyshort if the whole resort isopen, allowing skiers tospread out across themountain.

In recent years the resorthas made an effort toincrease the number ofservices it offers, includingexpanding the Mirlo Blancorecreation zone, which nowhas an ice rink, toboggans,ski-bikes, mini-skis and atrack for wheeled tobog-gans.

In summer you can gowalking, cycling, horse-rid-ing and mountain climbingin the area. One of thecable cars and one chair-liftare kept open in July andAugust, making it relativelyeasy for hikers to reach thesummit of Veleta. On aclear day, you may be luckyenough to catch a glimpseof Africa from the peak ofthe mountain.

Also during the summermonths, the National Parksoffice runs a microbus serv-ice from Hoya de la Mora, just above the resort vil-lage, to Posiciones delVeleta, at 3,100 metres. The service includes aguided commentary aboutthe geology and ecology ofthe Sierra Nevada.

VAUXHALL CORSA 1.0T 115, REVIEWTime has crept up on Vauxhall's Corsa. The fact that lastyear it sold as well as it ever has (an impressive 84,000sales) has disguised the car's age, but the fourthgeneration of Vauxhall's small hatchback waslaunched a hefty eight years ago. So the marquehas decided that now is the time for a new version.

Were it not for the bigger-mouthed radiator grille witha bar across it, like that of its fashion-model AdamRocks sibling, the new version would not be readilydistinguishable from the last one, unless the distin-guisher saw old and new parked together. This ispartly because Vauxhall sees little reason to changea shape liked by buyers, and partly because a lot ofthe underskin structure is shared with the old car.

But there are subtle changes. The front and rearlights have gained a fashionably cutaway look, there's a blade-like groove along the flanks, and thesleek dashboard has a touchscreen console able to"mirror" your phone. Owners of the old Corsa oftencomplained that the windscreen misted up too easi-ly, so the new one has a heated screen with very fineelements embedded in the glass. Those are the new parts you can see – although theheating elements are barely noticeable, fortunately. Butthere's more. One snag with the old Corsa was that if youhad also driven Ford's excellent Fiesta, the Vauxhallseemed a dull, unengaging machine with a loose, dis-connected feel. The new one's suspension is attached tothe body at slightly different points, which, combined with

new, electrically assisted steering, makes it feel tauter, more incisive and more responsive while also dealing

calmly with bumps. It's a lot of fun, in the way a small carshould be.

Some new engines help, of which the star is the 1.0-litre,three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol already under thebonnet of the Adam Rocks. This tiny engine, availablewith either 90 or 115bhp, makes the power delivery

extremely smooth. The 115bhp version has a lively, punchy response, with the occasional hesitations criti-

cised in the Adam absent here. This really is a ter-rific little unit, with enough of a three-cylinder'sdeep, tuneful engine note to give it character.

But buyers will need to get used to its strangeplace in the Corsa's fearsomely complicatedmodel-range structure, in which another newengine – a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder unit, again tur-bocharged – produces just 100bhp and is offeredat a lower price despite its larger size. You are pay-ing for power and technological advancement withthe smaller engine, plus the chance to recoupsome of the outlay thanks to a lower CO2 figure, and an undeniably more enjoyable drive. That said, the 1.4 turbo is a relaxed engine with a willing pullfrom low speeds.

As for the trim levels, they ascend from Life toSting, Sting R, Excite, Design, SRi, SRi VX-Line,SE and, finally, a range-topping Limited Edition.Someone has failed to see the wood from the bag-gage-laden trees here, forgetting that such a mish-

mash is usually found at the end of a model's life ratherthan at the beginning

Yet none of this stops the new Corsa from being a muchbetter small hatchback than the old one – comfortable, well equipped and keenly priced. It's a remake ratherthan an all-new car but, as remakes go, it's a good one.

Fact: many diabetics reading this willhave no idea what an HbA1c is. I shall rectify this with a brief explanationbut that is not the point of this article. The point is that good diabetes manage-ment can drastically reduce complica-tions. The main person responsible foryour diabetes management is YOU butunless you understand your conditionhow can you be expected to control it?!

In an ideal world, every newly diag-nosed diabetic would have a shortseries of appointments with their Doctoror Practice Nurse where they would beeducated about their condition andgiven the opportunity to ask any ques-tions.

Some patients do have access to such aservice but it varies from Practice toPractice. GP’s do not normally have thetime and not all Practice Nurses aretrained in diabetes care. To make mat-ters worse, when you live in a foreigncountry and do not speak the languageyou may be put on tablets and sentaway with no clue as to what is happen-ing to your body!

If not correctly managed, diabetes canlead to:

• Heart and blood vessel dis-ease. • Nerve damage (neuropathy). • Kidney damage (nephropathy). • Eye damage. • Foot damage and amputations• Skin and mouth conditions. • Osteoporosis.• Alzheimer's disease. • Hearing problems.

Thankfully, such complications arelargely preventable with early diagnosis, regular tests and the correct care.

It has long been recognized in the med-ical world that educated patients copebetter with chronic diseases such asdiabetes. Knowledge gives them powerover their illnesses, reduces complica-tions and reduces the risk of depressionthat often accompanies chronic disease.

So, for those of you that don’t know, your HbA1c is your average blood glu-cose over a 2-3 month period. It isexpressed as a percentage and in gen-eral, the aim of treatment is an HbA1c ofbetween 6.5% and 7.5 % dependingupon the patient. This figure is very important as it is usedto decide:

-if and when you need to change fromdiet only control to tablets.-if your medication dose needs chang-ing.-if you require different types of tabletsto control your blood glucose.-if you need to commence insulin.

If you have questions about any aspectof your diabetes or feel that there aregaps in your understanding of your con-dition, make an appointment with a suit-ably qualified health care professionalwho can give you the time that youneed.

Given any discussion about your owndeath and consequent funeral is the lastbig taboo, this is a difficult subject toaddress. However, to paraphraseBenjamin Franklin – in this world nothingcan be said to be certain, except deathand taxes. So, the only way to present thissubject is to be open and practical aboutthe chooses we face and please remem-ber, this is not about you.Your nearest and dearest are the people

who will grieve your parting and be facedwith the problem of organising and payingfor an appropriate and respectful funeral. It is your spouse, your life partner, yourchildren or your friends that have to carrythis burden when they are in state of emo-tionally stress. Given we would like to make it as easy aspossible for them, at this time of grief thatis exacerbated by our choice to live inSpain, there are plans we should makenow and I would like to simply give you anoutline of your options.

1. Do nothing – this obviously is theworst case as it will course maximum

stress and maximum cost. Your nearestand dearest may have no idea of what todo first or how to organise a funeral inSpain.2. Leave your body to science –this can course emotional stress to yournearest and dearest as there will be nofuneral conducted as part of the grievingprocess. Also, the plan can be fundamen-tally ‘flawed’ if a post mortem is requiredor if you die out of the Province as it willnegate the agreement leading to arequirement for a funeral anyway. 3. Buy funeral insurance – thereare a few flaws here. The plan only worksif you keep paying the premiums and onlycovers you in Spain. Also the cost increas-es with time, i.e. you could be paying highpremiums for many years and eventuallypay more, than you would have done, ifyou had chosen to do nothing in the firstplace.4. Buy a pre-paid funeral plan – thebenefits here are many but a few criticalpoints are. You get a single ‘emergencytelephone number’ to call that will initiateimplementation of the complete plan. The

cost is fixed at the time ofpurchase and will neverincrease, therefore savingmoney. The plan will workboth here in Spain or in theUK if you decide to return‘home’. The only flaw is canyou afford it?

If you would like to knowmore about your choosesor the details of the GoldenLeaves pre-paid funeralplans, obviously I would beonly too happy to meet withyou privately.

Both A-ha and Rock in Rio were foundedin 1985. Both celebrate their 30th anniver-saries in 2015.

A-ha performed in Brazil for the first timeat the festival in 1991. They played to198,000 fans at the Maracanã stadium, which at that time was a worldrecord for the number of ticketssold for a music concert.

Vocalist Morten Harket said:“Earlier that week I sneaked in tothe stadium to watch Guns N'Roses from the side of the stagewhile they played for 160,000people. It was a fantastic concertand the first time I saw the size ofthe audience.”

Other big names during the nine

Keyboardist Magne Furuholmen con-firmed: “The concert at the Maracanã sta-dium in 1991 was one of the greatesthighlights in A-ha's career.”

He continued: “When the band got anoffer to return in connection to the festi-val's 30th anniversary, it was impossible toturn it down.“

Guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy said it tooka long time before A-ha became used toplaying their music live on stage.

He said: “I feel it was at Rock in Rio andthe other concerts in South America, dur-ing that tour, that we finally achieved it.”

Norway wants to redefine the contoursof the arctic ice edge, the governmentannounced on Tuesday in a controver-sial decision that could allow it to fur-ther open the barents sea to oil andgas exploration.

The area is closed to the oil and gasindustry and a 2013 agreement betweenthe minority government and its centreright allies prohibits development in therich and fragile ecosystem at the ice edge. However global warming has seen the iceretreat further north fuelling debate onwhere its edge is now located.

"It's important to have updated knowledgeon where the fragile areas are located,"Norway's Minister of Climate andEnvironment Tine Sundtoft said in a state-ment. "Therefore I've asked theNorwegian Polar Institute to update theircalculations."

The institute will update Norway'ssea ice map -- currently based ondata collected over two decadesup to 1989 -- with new satellitedata from between 1984 and2013.This would allow the governmentto argue that new oil concessionssoon to be offered to the petrole-um industry in the Barents Sea

are located far from the sea ice. When objections over drilling in the areaerupted late last year, the governmentdecided to delay the latest round of bidsfor concessions. On Tuesday, centre-rightparties in parliament and environmentalgroups said however that they opposedthe re-drawing of the boundaries andaccused the government of pandering tothe oil industry."We are not moving the borders of the iceedge," Prime Minister Erna Solberg toldTV2 news. "It's nature which is moving theboundaries of the ice edge."

Oil companies faced with declining NorthSea oil and gas reserves have pushed fornew prospecting licences in areas previ-ous off-limits. Environmental groups have argued thatthe environmental risks of Arctic drillingwould be too high and that it would proba-bly not be viable in light of falling oil prices.

Two goals from on-loan striker Eljero Elia gave the Saintsa 2-1 win away at Newcastle on SNF, to extend theirunbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions and liftthem back third in the Premier League table. While manypundits remain sceptical as to whether Southampton cancontinue their charge towards a top-four finish, Koemanbelieves his side are showing the qualities to continue toprove any doubters wrong.

"I think we can keep this position," the Dutchman toldSaturday Night Football. "We have a lot of confidence -that’s the key for the results in the last few weeks.

"This win is better than the last win again ManchesterUnited because it was the third game of the week andwith all the problems we had for this game with injuriesand not having the whole squad available, I think the spir-it in the team is unbelievable.

"I think we deserved the win because in my opinion thebetter team won today."

WaTsON ClaIMs2Nd TOUR TITlE

Britain's Heather Watson won the secondWTA Tour title of her career on Saturday, beating American qualifier MadisonBrengle 6-3 6-4 in the Hobart Internationalfinal. In doing so, she becomes the first Britishwoman since Anne Hobbs in 1985 toclaim two Tour titles in her career.

Watson recovered from 3-1 down in thefirst set to clinch the win. Brengle had tobattle her way through seven matches inqualifying and the main draw to reach herfirst WTA final and she pushed her friendWatson, who was forced to save 11 breakpoints in her first two service games.

The 12th saw the American claim the firstbreak of the match when Watson doublefaulted but it was just one of five in the setand her opponents' superior net play

helped her claim the opening set in blus-tery conditions.

Brengle continued to struggle with a blis-tered right hand in the second set, with 21of her 34 unforced errors coming on herforehand.

Watson made the most of Brengle's injuryand claimed the only break of the set for a4-3 lead and three games later was serv-ing for the match, which she securedwhen Brengle went wide with a backhand.

The 22-year-old won her maiden title inOsaka at the end of the 2012 season, ending a 24-year wait for a British femalechampion, and bounced back from aninjury-blighted 2013 by climbing back intothe top 50 last season.

NOTHING PERsONalAston Villa manager Paul Lambertsays his decision to let record signingDarren Bent leave the club was "noth-ing personal".Bent, 30, has been out of favour atVilla Park for the past couple of sea-sons four years after arriving fromSunderland in a £24m deal, makingonly eight appearances for the PremierLeague side this term - seven of themas a substitute.

The former England forward was regu-larly overlooked by Lambert and spentlast season on loan at Fulham beforehe was loaned out to Brighton earlierthis term. He then joined up withChampionship high-flyers Derby on aseason-long loan deal on January 2,theoretically putting an end to his Villacareer with his contract due to expire

this summer.

Earlier this month Bent was quoted assaying that Lambert's decision to leavehim out of his plans was "personal" butthe Villa boss said: "I think Darren hasgot to be honest with himself. If youask anyone here, or any of his team-mates, they would tell you, it's nothingpersonal."I never stood in his way to go to anyother club. The only clubs that came infor him were Championship clubs - notone Premier League club. That says alot, so it was never personal.

"He went to Brighton for a month andthey never wanted to renew it. He'sgone to Derby and never started agame.
