SECOND-HAND UNIFORM SHOP

Dear parents

Please note that the second hand uniform shop will only accept items that are in good condition. They cannot accept soiled or damaged items. Unfortunately, the shop cannot accept exchanges or swaps.

PREQUEST FOR PARENTS TO CHECK THEIR CHILDREN’S PHONES DAILY I was made aware that the Government is busy with a daft law on holding parents with under aged children accountable for using their cell phones to access inappropriate content, etc. May I please encourage parents to be proactive in educating your child about the possible risks involved?

Vocational

Visit to Fish Factory

Something fishy happened on 29 May – the Vocational group visited the fish factory in Northriding. This gave us a peek into the running of a factory, which happens around the clock! It helped us to practically see and experience the difference between a wholesale and retail businesses.

We also watched a demonstration of fish filleting (hake and trout) and opening of oysters by a real pro. Koketso impressed all of us with his speedy learning - photo number 5.

Afterwards we were treated to the best seafood in Joh’burg at the Fisherman’s Deli shop.

Parent guest teacher

In June we experienced another first when a visiting teacher presented a cooking lesson in the Vocational House. She was none other than the well-known parent and PTA member of the school, Mrs Barbara Carty.

Here we are in her class and at the festive table we laid ourselves:

Past Events

Vocational Old Boys

These happy Vocational old boys visited Cedarwood this week. Tshwane Thulare (middle) finished his End User Computing (EUC) qualification in 2017 and is now a second year TV and Film Production student at Oakfields College. Kondwane Kabwato (left) first took a gap year and is studying Photography this year at the same college. They are enjoying their studies very much. Khaya Mamba (right) completed EUC in 2018, and recently has enrolled for a fitness instructor course at Fitpro.

When Alex Olivier, who was a school leader in 2018, visited last term, he said he was still taking a gap year and planned to go into business soon.

To all our old boys and girls: We are very happy and proud to hear that you are coping well in that long awaited “life after school”, for which Cedarwood helped you prepare!
