COLLINGTON BREWERS: SUNDAY, JANUARY 17 – 5:30PM, DINING ROOM: The Collington Brewers will make two batches of beer. Both will be wheat beers. After our last brew, we decided to refine our recipe for Belgium witbier. The second brew will be a honey wheat similar to President Obama’s White House beer. Experienced brewers as well as people who just want to join the fun and learn are welcome. Meet in the self-serve area of the dining room. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that will not slip on damp floors.

Sticking together, they survive some of modern history's most significant events. As a child, Deok-Su had to say goodbye to his father during a North Korean refugee evacuation amidst the Korean War. His last words to his father were a promise that he would always protect the family. As he matures, that vow leads him to the coalmines of 1960's Germany, and even into the jungle of the Vietnam War. Breads and pastries are prepared in-house daily. Cellist Daniel Müller-Schott plays Dvorák's Cello Concerto on a program that also includes Brahms's Piano Quartet, orchestrated by Schoenberg, and the first NSO performances of Christopher Rouse's Phaethon. CANDLELIGHT CONCERT; THE BELLINI ENSEMBLE: SUNDAY, JANUARY 24 – 3PM, AUDITORIUM; The Bellini Ensemble, Kathy Birch, cellist and director. Violinist Laura Knutson and cellist Kathy Birch of the Bellini Ensemble are returning to Collington this year, accompanied by pianist, Dr. Carol Wolf-Ralph, to perform piano trios spanning three centuries. Their program will feature the great Violin Sonata in D major, HWV371, one of Handel’s best-known works composed in 1750; Czech composer Bedrich Smetana’s Piano Trio in g minor, op.15, composed in 1850; and the third set of Frank Bridge’s Miniatures written by the British composer in 1909. These talented musicians have collaborated on recitals in years past and are looking forward to bringing you this delightful program.

Upon arrival in Greenbelt, participants will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant of choice and a 3:15PM matinee. Movie tickets for seniors at the Greenblet P&G Theater are $9. Please come prepare to pay upon arrival. The Greenbelt P&G Theater usually announces movie showings a week or two in advance.
