Calendar of HoH Events: It's time again to begin planning your pilgrimage for the best Barbershop weekend of the year! Now is the perfect time to make plans to attend Sunshine District's Labor Day Jamboree. Bring the entire family and make it a long vacation weekend. You will find literally hundreds of

things to do and see while staying at the centrally located Buena Vista Palace Resort in Orlando at Downtown Disney. Once there you are only minutes from several world-class theme parks or if you would like, feel free to stay at the resort and enjoy the amenities. The boys at the recent Harmony Explosion ‘08 wanted to express their thanks to the various chapters of our district who assisted in making it possible for them to attend this valuable music camp. Here is just a sample of the guys’ words of gratitude. It reminds us, at HoH, that investing in young people is a great way to KEEP THE WHOLE WORLD SINGING!

Well, these two buccaneers are being recognized for doing a fantastic job in promoting our recent annual show, where all the HoH Pirates musically swashbuckled their way into your hearts. The grog-toting JOE KANE gets the gold swizzle stick for doing the best job of selling program advertisements. The smiling (?) Tom Stewart gets the velvet eye-patch for outdoing all others when it came to ticket sales. Many thanks to these two handsome blokes...and everyone else who helped with Encore ‘08 !

Are you ready for Christmas? NO? What’s wrong? July is the perfect time to dig out the Christmas music and start getting ready for a great holiday season. That’s just what the Heralds are doing…. In fact at their next rehearsal they’ll be dusting off some of the music that has made them famous all around the Bay area for the past 10 Christmas concerts. THE PAGLIARA CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

The Heralds’ successful Youth Harmony Workshop program will grow this year, thanks to an increased annual grant from program partner, The Pagliara Charitable Foundation. Bill Phipps, VP Financial Development, reports that The Foundation has increased its funding support by 60% this year to add a workshop in another county and/or to send selected youth workshop attendees to Harmony Explosion camp in June. Heralds Youth Activities Directors, Arne Helbig and Byron Poore will manage the YH Workshop program and the expanded activity, and will decide the mix of the new scope with Phipps in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the 12th consecutive year of the Pinellas and Hillsborough YH Workshops will take place in September, with the "value matching" volunteer efforts of the Heralds, the local chapters of Sweet Adelines, and the Greater Pinellas Chapter.

Heralds volunteers, for either or both workshops, may contact Arne or Byron.
