UK: Food Producer Prices Inflation (PPI) vs. Food Consumer Prices Inflation (CPI) The gap between food PPI and food CPI in the UK stood at a substantial 2.9 percentage points in July, suggesting that consumers are being insulated from the full impact of rising input costs, and that food retailers and producers are seeing a significant squeeze on margins. Through July 2017 Source: Office for National Statistics/FGRT Source: Forbes.com $8 Bil. Alibaba invested as much as $8 billion in physical stores over the past two years through stakes in local supermarket chains and the acquisition of Chinese luxury mall operator Intime Retail. Since 2015, Alibaba has opened 13 brick-and- mortar grocery stores under the Hema Xiansheng brand. The company believes that seamless integration between online and offline channels is crucial for future growth. 5.8 2.9 (4.0) (2.0) 0.0 2.0 4.0 6.0 2015 2016 2017 Food PPI Food CPI
