From the Principal…

PARENT SURVEY IS STILL OPEN The Tell Them from Me survey is still open so it’s not too late to complete the survey. The link to the

survey is http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/uminabeach Staff will analyse the results from the survey and they will be taken into consideration beside the student surveys and the teacher surveys. This information will be used in school planning.

THANK YOU CWA Ladies form the Umina CWA made a donation to the school recently. This donation was used to ensure that all Kindergarten students could attend the Reptile Park visit to our school last week. No one missed out and all of the children enjoyed the visit enormously. Thank you CWA ladies!

FATHERS DAY We hope that all the dads out there had a lovely day on Sunday. The P&C organised the Father’s Day stall which went very smoothly and the children enjoyed choosing their gifts for dad. A very big thank you to the volunteers for all of your help on Friday.

YEAR 5 CHECK IN Recently our Year 5 students completed the Year 5 check in. This optional state-wide test was made available because these was no NAPLAN this year. We already have the results and teachers will analyse these so that they can focus on the areas for development in their teaching and learning programs. Year 3 will complete the check-in during the last week of this term and early next term.

SCHOOL PPHOTOS Envelopes for school photos will go home today. If you want a family photo taken, please have your children come to the front office to collect an envelope. Photos will be taken on Wednesday 23 September (last week of term). Please send your children in full summer uniform.

Walk Safely to School Day this Friday We’ll have a special guest joining our Lolly Pop Lady this Friday, 11 September for ‘Walk Safely to School Day’. Liesl Tesch will be at the Hobart Ave school crossing and wants to hear from you on what improvements can be made to make your walk and ride to school safer.

National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. For more info visit http://www.walk.com.au

Top 5 tips for parents to get their kids walking to school:

Walk some or if you can, walk all the way to school Get off the bus a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way Leave the car at least 1km away from school and walk the rest of the way Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier to fit in a walk to school If you can’t walk in the morning, walk home after school

TOTALLY WILD! Last Wednesday, Kindergarten attended a Reptile Park incursion in the hall. They got an up close and personal experience with some of the animals including pythons, lizards, turtles and even a baby alligator! The students learnt about how to safely touch these animals and to never approach them in the wild. Kindergarten had a lot of fun learning different facts about the animals from the zookeepers and even got to touch and hold some of the animals! It was a totally wild experience that they will never forget.
