In October 9th graders will have the State mandated health screenings done. The State no longer requires a scoliosis screening in 9th grade so only

Message from the Nurse
August was a very busy month for the Cromwell High School Student Council. Not only have we been preparing for the upcoming school year, but we also held an event- Freshman Orientation! Freshman Orientation was on Wednesday, August 24th from 3-7 PM. Here, incoming freshman were able to tour the school, find their lockers, get information about some clubs and sports, get their schedules and iPads, and play lots of fun games with student council members. Some of the games they played were dodgeball, human knot, and water balloon tosses. They also were provided pizza from Ken and Barb’s. At the end of orientation, freshman and their parents were able to get their iPads. The day was a booming success- about 88% of the freshman were in at-tendance (115 students present/131 total students). The student council would like to thank the executive board, especially vice president Gabriel Fletcher for putting on such a successful day.
On the first day of school, incoming freshman received pencils with messages attached to make their first day of high school less nerve racking! The Student Council Executive Board have met this summer to make these for the freshman.
On Wednesday, August 31st, which was the first day of school, Member at Large applications for the 2016-2017 Student Council were available in guidance. The completed applications will be due on Wednesday, September 7th. Interviews for this position will take place after school on Wednesday, September 14th and Thursday, September 15th.
The Cromwell High School Student Council also partners up with the American Red Cross to host blood drives periodically throughout the year. The dates for the 2016-2017 year are- Mon-day, October 3rd, Monday, December 5th, and Tuesday, January 31st. Later in the school year, there will be a fourth date added as well. You must be 17 or older and in healthy condition to donate blood. Visit the American Red Cross website with any questions.
Thursday, September 14th is the Cromwell High School Open House. Here, parents will be able to tour the school and have the opportunity to pay their child’s class dues. Student council members will be in attendance to help give directions and ensure the night runs smoothly.
Picture day for the 2016-2017 school year will be on September 23rd and the make-up date will be November 3rd.
This summer was very busy for the CHS Student Council. The executive board talked every day
and have met quite often to ensure that the 2016-2017 school year runs smoothly and effective-
ly. The 2016-2017 Student Council is attached below. We cannot wait for this school year!
