Solution: Please do not react with negative behavior Example of teacher at Coulwood. Dont stay mad about a discipline issue for 3 months complain about it and then tell administration about later! Using the Chromebooks instead of paper (Sometimes) $50,000 Technology article on my desk about technology is not Good in 2015 Are we going back to Pencil and Paper? TECHNOLOGY The week of September 8th -11th the distribution of Chromebooks will start. The process is similar to the Chromebook Assessments Plan in April. Ms. Tesemma will set up a station in the lower level of each wing and Mrs. Snelson at the upper level. Starting with E- wing( room E100, E101, E102 etc.) The students will bring Ms. Tesemma their signed forms to receive their Chromebooks(teachers will not collect the forms, as students will hold onto them). Mrs. Lawwill is going to print out the labels in advanced for the Chromebook, in alpha order to expedite the process. CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION The administrators will be assigned a wing to communicate to the teachers when the technician is ready for the next class. The teacher will receive anin advance outlining a start date for the distribution of Chromebooks. This process will probably take one day to complete each wing( upper and lower). Students who do not have a signed form will have to receive their Chromebooks on the makeup day which will be stationed in the Media Center. Tutoring must take place off campus and after work hours 3-2 & 3-2A CODE OF ETHICS AND STANDARDS OF CONDUCT (DANIELS) Relationship between staff and students should be one of cooperation, understanding, & mutual respect. Staff is responsible for providing an atmosphere conducive to learning. Model the behavior expected of students. Prohibited from dating, courting, or entering romantic or sexual relationships with any student regardless of the students age. If you have a reason to believe another employee is inappropriately involved with a student you must report the information to the Superintendent. 3-6 STAFF-STUDENT RELATIONS (DANIELS) The BOE prohibits unlawful discrimination, harassment, or bullying however motivated, directed toward any person or group. The BOE also prohibits retaliation against an employee, student, or witness for reporting violations of this policy. 3-7 DISCRIMINATION, HARASSMENT, & BULLYING (FERRON) Any unwelcomed sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when: submission to the conduct is a term or condition of an individuals employment, academic progress, or completion of a school activity. Submission to or rejection of the conduct is used as the basis for employment decisions or evaluating a student's performance within a course of study. Conduct interferes with an employees work performance or a students educational performance. Examples of sexual harassment include, but are not limited to: deliberate, unwelcome touching, suggestions or demands for sexual involvement, pressure for sexual activity, continued or repeated offensive flirtations, advances or propositions, continued or repeated verbal remarks about an individuals body, sexually degrading words or gestures 3-7A SEXUAL HARASSMENT DEFINED FOR EMPLOYEES (PRICE) Informally addressed through a conference or mediation OR Make a complaint orally or in writing immediately to any of the following: Immediate supervisor or Title IX Coordinator The Title IX Coordinator will authorize and supervise the investigation of the complaint Investigator will interview (1) the complainant (2) the accused harasser (3) any other persons who may have relevant knowledge No face to face confrontations between complainant and accused harasser Information will only be shared with those that need it to address the complaint. Law enforcement will be notified if laws have been broken. The investigator will write a report of the findings and notify the complainant, in writing, of the outcome. within 15 days of receiving the complaint unless additional time is necessary to conduct the investigation. An appeal can be made in writing to the Superintendent within 5 calendar days of receiving the investigators report. 3-7B SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINT PROCEDURES (PRICE) Cyber Bullying: students may not use a computer or computer network to harass or bully a school employee. Examples of prohibited conduct are: Building a fake profile or website regarding a school employee Posting or encouraging others to post private, personal, or sexual information or disseminating unauthorized data pertaining to school employees Posting a real or doctored image of the school employee on the Internet Accessing any accounts other than your own. Using a computer for repeated, continuing, or sustained electronic communication to a school employee Make any statement, whether true or false, intending to provoke or harass a school employee. Signing up a school employee for a pornographic site, electronic mailing lists, junk messages, instant messages, with the intent to torment a school employee A student convicted of cyber bullying will be transferred to another school unless there is no other appropriate school within the system. Any employee must report harassment to the principal or AP unless they were the harasser. Then notify the superintendent. The principal will promptly investigate. Investigator will interview (1) the complainant (2) the accused harasser (3) any other persons who may have relevant knowledge No face to face confrontations between complainant and accused harasser Information will only be shared with those that need it to address the complaint. Law enforcement will be notified if laws have been broken. The accused harasser will be notified, in writing, of the outcome. Superintendent will make a decision on the appeal within 5 calendar days. 4-7B SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINT PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS (PRICE) A parent organization must secure the prior advice and approval of the principal before planning any fundraising activity. Each parent organization must follow all sections of the BOE policy when expenditures are for school activities or when funds are raised by students or on school grounds. Any items purchased by a parent organization for school use or activities become the property of UCPS. The principal is required to give prior approval for any items purchased. Parent organizations are responsible for maintaining their own financial records. Accounts will be audited annually. Employees of the school are not permitted to routinely manage the affairs of the parent organization. Financial records are subject to review by the principal upon request. FERRON (H-O) Defining (pg ) Bullying or harassing behavior - a pattern of gestures, written, electronic, verbal communication, physical act, or threatening communication that takes place on school property, any school function, school bus, or any time/place if the behavior has an immediate adverse effect on maintaining order or discipline in the school. Harassment - Unwanted, unwelcomed, and uninvited behavior that demeans, threatens, or offends the victim. This can be a pattern of behavior or a single incident. Examples: epithets, derogatory comments, slurs, lewd propositions, assault, impeding or blocking movement, offensive touching, interference of movement, visual insults, derogatory drawings. Bullying - repeated intimidations of others by real or threatened infliction of physical, verbal, written, electronic, or emotional abuse. Or attacks on the property of another. Examples include: verbal taunts, name-calling and put-downs, extortion of money or possessions, implied or stated threats, and extortion Guidelines (pg. 13) Report any incidents of bullying, harassment, or discrimination to an administrator as soon as possible. Encourage students to report bullying in the Bully Box located in the Front Office, Media Center, and Guidance Suite. Administrative staff will investigate every complaint and take appropriate action. STUDENT SERVICES - MR. FERRON (H-O) Field Trips (pg. 16) Purpose is to supplement/compliment the material covered in class. Trips must be approved at least 1 month in advance by Dr. Harris. Money must be collected 1 week in advance. Procedures - Obtain a request form from Ms. Bennett. Overnight trips have a separate form. Verify bus availability. Complete the form and return to Ms. Bennett. Secure a bus driver. Upon return, immediately return bus keys to Ms. Bennett. Activity buses will be used on trips. Unless you are assigned a morning or afternoon duty, your regular workday hours are 7:45- 3:15 p.m. All teachers must report to work and ready for class/ duty by 7:45 a.m. 2. Teachers MUST swipe in and out in the mailroom on a daily basis. 3. If a teacher is leaving campus, he/she must also swipe in and out, and have permission from administration. 4. Therefore, all teachers are required to write lesson plans one week in advance. Lesson plans should be accessible for administration during observations and walk-through visits. Teachers are encouraged to use technology in the planning process when applicable. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES - MS. DANIELS (P-Z) Progress Reports (pg ) Teachers are required to send out mid-six week Progress Reports to the parents of any student who is failing or in danger of failing for that grading period. Guidelines 1.The teacher will complete a Personalized Education Plan form (located on the PRHS Moodle page) for the student(we will revisit). 2. The teacher meets with the student to address the issues associated with their poor academic performance and develop strategies to improve their performance. 3. The teacher will communicate with parents about the PEP. 4. Each guidance counselor is required to have a copy of the Progress Report. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES - MS. DANIELS (P-Z) Teacher Dress Code (pg. 15) Guidelines The administration does not consider blue jeans, shorts, miniskirts (above the knee), flip-flops and warm-up/yoga pants to be appropriate professional dress. It is understood that P.E. teachers are allowed to wear Bermuda length shorts and warm-ups during classes. Blue jeans are not appropriate for the regular school days and must be approved by administration. Teachers should not be in halls after tardy bells, unless a planning period is the cause. 2. Students should not be dismissed from class until the period ends. 3. Students should NEVER be allowed to leave the class without a pass from the teacher. 4. Students should not run errands for teachers during the period. 5. Additionally, teachers are NOT allowed to detain a student from his/her next class. A note from the teacher does not excuse a student from being tardy or absent.
