Year 3 and 4 Tennis Tournament

This week, several children from Year 3 and 4 went to the Tennis final, after their win in Term 5. They played very well—despite the rain! They all showed incredible perseverance and great sportsmanship. Well done Year 3 and 4!

Thank you to all of the adults who organised the event and helped support it!

Groundforce Summer Groundforce Day will be on 24th July. Jobs include painting the Nursery back fence, jet washing and other outside painting. If you are able to spare half an hour, please pop along and help us make the school look fresh for next September. Any help would be very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you then!

Mr Wright Mr Wright has been teaching in Year 1 and 2 for the past two weeks, while Mrs King is on maternity leave. The children have enjoyed having him in school and Mr Wright has enjoyed his time at East Hoathly. He says “the class had made me really happy. All of the children are so lucky as this is a wonderful school and there is something really special about this school. I have loved teaching here.” We look forward to welcoming Miss Williams next week.

Parent Forum The Parent Forum (Homework Review and School Development Plan review) next week will be postponed and re-arranged. Please keep an eye on the newsletter for further details.

Forest School

This term, both Reception and Year 1 and 2 will be taking part in Forest School this term. This is to help aid the transition of Reception to Year 1. Please ensure that children in the listed years have their Forest School kit in school for Thursday. If you are able to volunteer any time, please inform Mrs Smith, Miss Denney or Miss Dutton. Thank you for your support!

Our Church School This term’s Christian Value is perseverance and through collective worship and RE lessons, we ask the children how they have shown these values throughout the week.

Abigail in Year 4 said “we showed perseverance at the Tennis competition by never giving up and by showing good sportsmanship to the other teams. We shook their hands and said well done.”

Wellbeing We now share a new wellbeing poster with you in the weekly newsletter. This week’s poster gives you tips to help build your child’s resilience and growth mindset. Maybe you can ask your child to share an example of when they have shown resilience!

Golden Mile Challenge As you know over term 5 we asked you get out and active and record how many miles of exercise you completed. Thank you to all the children who took part in recording their activity and sending in their golden mile record sheets. We have totalled up the miles from the cards we received and have completed a total of 78.4 recorded miles across Term 5. The year group with the most miles was Year 2, with an impressive 52.7miles! We would like to give a special mention to Jake in Year 2 who recorded all his journeys to and from school for the entire 5 weeks! What great perseverance! A big thank you to all that took part, we hope you enjoyed getting out and active, keep up the good work!

Nursery News

Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a lovely half term and it is great to see the children so excited to be back at Nursery. We have a busy term ahead with lots of exciting things to learn about for our new topic ‘Under The Sea’.

Our story of the week was ‘Ten Little Pirates’, which the children linked to their artwork and outside play.

In the outside area, the children enjoyed playing on our pirate ship (on the stage) by re-enacting walking the plank and building with our crates and large building blocks.

Our artwork this week was a real life printed picture of a tropical island. The children have used many resources and materials, like tissue paper and paint, from our art caddy to recreate their own islands.

Reminders

Please complete the suncream forms to enable us to put suncream on your child in the warm weather. Could parents please ensure that there is a sunhat and suncream in your child’s bag.

Please can we remind you all that fees are due the first day of term so could they be paid asap.

New information

If you would like to have a chat about your child or anything that is not general hand over information, we now have an allocated time when Dawn and other senior leaders will be available to talk. This will be on Mondays after school until 3:45pm and if this time is unsuitable for you, please book an appointment with Dawn.
