He told them, “You are the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world.” How, then, can we develop a more contagious lifestyle for Christ? Here are three suggestions, adapted from the book Becoming a Contagious Christian: 1) Authenticity. Hypocritical Christians may be the big- gest barrier preventing non-believers from crossing the line of faith or being enfolded into the community of faith. One basic quality of a contagious Christian is that he or she is “real.” A person doesn’t have to be perfect or know every answer. But the world is looking for someone who has genuine faith. 2) Compassion. Uncaring Christianity does not attract too many inquirers into its fold. So often, our lives are so fast- paced and stress-filled that we have little time or energy to show compassion. If we are not available to our disoriented neighbors, lonely co-workers and hurting friends, we will miss golden opportunities to share faith. 3) Sacrifice. While some skeptics may shrug off authentic- ity and compassion, sacrificial living is very difficult to deny or discount. Sacrifices of time, money and godly living often break through hardened hearts and make known the love of Christ. In essence, becoming a contagious Christian is like being one beggar telling another where to find bread. May God help us share the good news in word and deed until it becomes an epidemic throughout our world! Love in Christ, Today at Conejo... Living Contagiously You’ve perhaps heard the one about the type-A person who was asked, “Don’t you think you might be at risk for heart-disease or a nervous breakdown?” “No,” he replied, “But I’m a carrier.” Jesus taught his followers to be infectious carriers of the good news of God’s grace and his inbreaking kingdom reign. Pismo Beach Trip The 15th annual Pismo Beach trip is August 11-15, 2017. Please note that this year the trip is later and over the weekend to accommodate some schedules. The activity schedule is flex-ible, so you can come for a day or stay up to four nights at our Campobello group camp at Lopez Lake, which is about three hours north of Thousand Oaks. Our camp site is very fami-ly friendly, with a nearby water park and marina. Activities include fishing and boating on the lake, s'mores on the beach, riding ATVs on the sand dunes, worshipping around a camp-fire, cooking meals together, and just enjoying each other’s company. Please sign up on the sheet in the foyer. For more informa-tion about the schedule and to sign up online, see cvccpismobeach.shutter-fly.com or contact Mark Davis at (310) 892-9986 or [email protected].

Late registration can be completed for Teen Camp at www.socalteencamp.org and on-time registration for King’s Kamp at www.kingskamp.org. Teen Camp’s theme this year is Arise!! The theme of King’s Kamp is western this year as we look at some straight shootin’ from the kid brother of Jesus who tells us that faith without works is dead. So get ready to “Git Yer Boots On!”

Summer Bonfire Nights at Dockweiler On many Tuesday nights during the summer the Hilltop youth group hosts area-wide gatherings at Dockweiler Beach. Youth groups from Los Angeles and Ventura counties join together to play games, eat to their hearts’ delight, and enjoy some worship alongside a large bonfire. The next bonfire will be on Tuesday, July 11th, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Dockweiler Beach. Our group leaves Conejo at 3:30 p.m. and returns at 10:15 p.m. Drivers are needed for these beach nights. Please see Travis if you can help drive to this event.

THURSDAY, July 136:30 p.m. Thursday Night Bible Study at the Charles home. 6:30 p.m. College-Age Small Group at Williamson home.

It’s Rattlesnake Season As the weather warms up, the snakes come out! April and August are the months when rattlesnake babies hatch. Please do not allow your children to play in the flow-erbeds in the front of or behind the building. The playground must be checked before children are allowed outside.

Summer Memory Verses This summer we will be using a different memory verse from VBS each week to reflect upon. Challenge yourself to see if you remem-ber them!

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.-1 John 5:14
