• History• Organized May 21, 1988 in Naperville, IL

• Born from an idea at World of Concrete to promote better repair

• Began as the International Association of Concrete Repair Specialists

• Changed to International Concrete Repair Institute in 1993

• 2013 marked the associations 25th Anniversary Year

• Now into our 31st year

ICRI Conventions – Upcoming Dates

• The ICRI Certification Committee currently has two subcommittees with certification programs:

Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Technician (CSMTT)

Concrete Surface Repair Technician (CSRT)

Moisture-related flooring and coating problems are responsible each year for hundreds of millions of dollars in added construction costs, lost revenue,

project delays and dispute resolution.

Installation decisions are based on the results of moisture tests, and proper performance of these test methods is critical to the decision-

making process..

Why should someone become certified or attend Tier 1 of this program?

• Testing performed by certified technicians can help provide a greater confidence in the test results provided

• To gain a better understanding of the test methods, and the meaning of the results they provide

• Ownership of certification belongs to the individual and remains with the individual should they change employers

• Many project and manufacturer specifications require that testing be performed by an ICRI certified concrete slab moisture testing technician

What is the Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Certification Program Based Upon?

An Educational Program and Performance Exam on Five (5) ASTM standard test methods:

1) Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) - ASTM F 1869

2) Concrete Relative Humidity - ASTM F 2170

3) Electronic Moisture Meter – ASTM F 2659

4) Concrete Surface pH Testing - ASTM F 710, Section 5.2

5) Concrete Porosity – ASTM F 3191 (NEW in 2018)

Program has two tiers:

Tier 1 (Educational Program) – Day 1-- Educational Session: 3 to 4 hours-- Written Examination -- Certificate of Achievement

Tier 2 (Full Certification Program) – Day 2-- Successful completion of Tier 1-- Live Performance Examination-- Certificate and Wallet Card (5 – yr. certification)

Educational Session - 3 to 4 hours (mandatory)

Written Examination • One hour to complete

• Closed book

• All questions are multiple choice

• Total of 40 questions

• Four sections - must pass each section with minimum 60% correct

• Overall passing grade of minimum 70% correct

• Fulfill Tier 2 Previous Testing Experience Requirement

• Enhance Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Ability

• Provides Hands-On Training Opportunity
