The Museum without Walls Weeks 1 -6
The Brief: ‘Museum without Walls’
• Introduce basic research skills
• Encourage the development of a wide range of approaches to information gathering
• Build knowledge and awareness of historical and critical context of art and design practice
Key stages
• Allocation of an iconic ‘object’ (today)• Formal training in research skills using
Library resources (tomorrow)• Finding out whatever you can (this week
and the next 3 weeks) to prepare an information sheet on your ‘object’.
• Meeting staff in groups to talk about your findings so far (see timetable)
• Add your information sheet to a First Year Timeline by Monday 22 October
What should be on the ‘information sheet’ ?
• Include at least ONE clear image of your ‘object’ and 300-500 words describing:– What it is, who ‘made it’ and when?– Why you think it might be important.– What it means to you?
• Make it INTERESTING and LEGIBLE
• Size? 2 sheets A4 max.
• Add your name and research sources
