BHA 2008-2009 Agreed Upon Procedures
A full audit is performed every three years
• An agreed upon procedures for the 2008-2009 fiscal year is underway
• The agreed upon procedures for the 2007-2008 fiscal year was clean
BHA Fund Balance
• Fiscal Year July 1st – June 30th
• As of June 30, 2008– BHA Fund Balance $39,085.11
• As of June 30, 2009– BHA Fund Balance $42,006.92
BHA Financial Support• Revenue consists of dues, sponsorships, and event
registration• Membership support is extremely important• Special thanks to our founding members
– Blue Grass Airport– Bluegrass Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association– Commerce Lexington– Keeneland– Lexington Convention and Visitor’s Bureau– Kentucky Eagle Beer
Approval of Treasurer’s Report
2009-2010 Budget• Expenses for 2009-2010 are in line or slightly
reduced compared to the 2008-2009 Budget.
• Plan to hold 7 events or more in 2009-2010
• BHA is projected to end the Fiscal Year of 2009 - 2010 with $3,500 in revenue above expenses

• BHA served as a sponsor for the Filson Bourbon Academy• Fall Keeneland Outing • 7th Annual Golf Outing to fund the Mark O’Brien scholarship• May’s Annual Tourism Forum
– Presentations on the 2009 Legislative Session, Greening the Hospitality Industry in the Bluegrass and Social Media/Web 2.0
– Keynote Address from Bill Samuels, Jr., President, Makers Mark Distillery
• Membership Event featuring Lindsay Culbreath, Smith Travel Research with a presentation on Operating in the Tourism and Hotel Industry in a Down Economy
• Membership Event featuring “The Pros and Cons of VLTs at Racetracks”
• BTMA/BHA Tourism Gala at CastlePost

• February 2009– BHA Supported the Kentucky Distillers Assn and
others to oppose the tax increases imposed on the alcoholic beverage industry
• March 2009– BHA Supported HB 229 making improvements in
Historic Preservation tax credits, updating the Kentucky Tourism Development Act and establishing a program to help have more films made in Kentucky
2009 Legislative Issues
• May – June 2009– BHA Supported the Kentucky Equine Education
Program (Keep) proposal for adding VLT’s at Kentucky Race Tracks to keep our thoroughbred industry strong
– BHA Advocated with Kentucky US Representatives to oppose EFCA legislation under consideration in Congress
• August 2009– BHA Encouraged LFUCG and KY Transportation Dept
to find funding to bury power lines along the Newtown Pike Extension
