WELCOME ON BOARD RONDA EVANS, APC VICE-PRESIDENT (WOMEN)

Ronda is an urban Aboriginal woman living in Ajax, Ontario and a member of the North Timiskaming First Nation in Southwestern Quebec. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in economics and philosophy. After entering the workforce, Ronda quickly discovered that helping people to help themselves was her true career calling and “Bay Street” would have to carry on without her. She spent the majority of her federal public service career consulting primarily with Aboriginal community groups. Ronda engaged in community and organizational development support, thereby satisfying her ambition to help people help themselves. For eighteen years prior to retirement, she was a consultant for the Aboriginal Head Start Program where her servant leadership style contributed to the strengthening of Aboriginal families, organizations, and communities. In addition, she also facilitated Aboriginal Women in Leadership workshops. An active community volunteer, Ronda has served as a figure skating club and soccer club board member. She founded the women’s soccer league in Ajax and was part of a small team tasked with revitalizing a soccer club from the ground up and organizing a soccer exchange between Ajax-Pickering and Iqaluit. She was also board member of an Aboriginal Women’s Shelter as well as volunteering as an Infant Loss Facilitator. After retiring Ronda joined the APC Ontario and took on more active and visible roles in her community on the federal and provincial

Liberal Riding Associations where she learned a lot about party organization and the political campaigning process. Ronda recently celebrated thirty years of marriage, adores her grown children, and cherishes her grandsons. She is well traveled and maintains a healthy lifestyle through soccer, hiking mountains around the world (notably reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro), personal training, cycling, running, and all this helps her keep up to her very active grandsons. “We’re still not graduating the numbers we should be. We could have more doctors, more lawyers, more MBA’s. And we need them desperately. We know from experience that when our people serve our own people, we have incredible success.” (2003) ~ Roberta Jamieson Contact: Ronda Evans [email protected] !

YES YOU CAN RUN FOR THE NOMINATION - INTRODUCING SARAH DOUGLAS FOR DARTMOUTH—COLE HARBOUR, NOVA SCOTIA

I love being part of something that is greater than me. I am happiest and at my best when I feel I am contributing to something meaningful, impactful. My candidacy for the federal Liberal nomination in Dartmouth—Cole

Harbour is inspired by my love for our community and my drive to positively contribute to the success of its future. ! Passionate about community engagement and cultural enhancement, I divide my time between work in a provincial constituency office, assisting at a local art gallery, and being part of Halifax’s modern dance community. I surround myself with positive and motivated individuals by volunteering with local initiatives, festivals and projects because I am invested in strengthening our city and working with others to make life better for our neighbours. I believe that we must walk together in order to empower those around us to step forward. ! As a community builder, I know what it means to serve Dartmouth—Cole Harbour. I am inspired by the people who are proud to live here, raise their families, and create avenues to affect positive change in our neighbourhoods. I am motivated by our creative and innovative workforce of entrepreneurs and educators, I am humbled by the generous contributions and sacrifices made by our military families, and I fiercely believe in

the tenacity of those who call Dartmouth—Cole Harbour home. ! I am a candidate for the federal Liberal nomination because our riding deserves a federal representative who knows the strengths of our community and who appreciates its challenges — and there are many. I look forward to leading our riding ahead of those challenges, engaging in more solutions, and empowering our community. !- Sarah Douglas !Contact: [email protected] www.sarahdouglas.ca @sdug04 #DouglasDCH www.facebook.com/DouglasDCH
