An athlete’s placement at Off-Main All-Stars is decided by the level qualification guidelines set forth by the United States All-Star Federation (USASF) and by the recommendation of our qualified coaching staff. Take comfort in knowing that all of our athletes will be placed at the appropriate level for their age and maturity, overall ability, skill and ability to mirror his or her peers on the team. In our program, athletes and their families are committing to cheer for Off-Main All-Stars and not for a specific level or team. We appreciate your confidence in our coaching and decision-making when it comes to selecting athletes for practice groups and/or teams. We will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns on placement after our teams have been selected. Commitment starts with the parent and follows through to the athlete. Coaches reserve the right to move a child to a different team during the season. An athlete may be dismissed or placed in an alternate position if the skills are not where he or she can be used on a team in the gym. A child may be moved to a different team during the season depending on what is needed by that team (ie. base, fly, tumbler), or if their skills are not where they should be during the progression of the season. We may merge teams, change team levels, or delete a team during the season. We may register teams in various divisions throughout the season. We will exhaust every possibility before dismissing a team.

Team Announcements: On Friday, July 3rd we will announce our 2020-2021 Teams! Teams with the athlete’s names will be posted on our website (offmaincheer.com) by Friday, July 3rd. Our intention is to create the best possible teams by maximizing the skill in each level based on age and ability. Not only will teams be chosen by their overall cheer skills, but also by the values and maturity that each athlete will bring to the team. Every team will consist of bases, flyers, back spots, tumblers and jumpers. The success of your team will depend on each individual/ parent commitment and dedication to the team. This program is not about the individual. We will not tolerate “individual” attitudes. We feel that the member on the back row is just as important as the member on the front. The first tumbling pass is just as needed as the last. Flyers can’t fly without bases. Flyers are no more important than back spots. It takes a TEAM to win. The team will always come first in making selections and decisions. Please note, once teams have been established, coaches have the right to make team changes/adjustments as needed throughout the remaining season. We thank you again for your confidence in our coaching and decision making when we place your athlete on a team. Each athlete will be placed where she/he will be most successful.

Safety Cheerleading, by the very nature of the activity, carries a risk of physical injury. No matter how careful a student and the instructor are, no matter how many spotters are utilized, and no matter what landing surface, the risks cannot be eliminated. The risk of injury includes but is not limited to: broken bones, dislocations, muscle pulls, and catastrophic injuries including permanent paralysis or even death. Off-Main All-Stars is NOT responsible for providing medical insurance. Parents or guardians are strongly advised to provide adequate accidental coverage for their children while enrolled in our cheerleading program. In the case of an emergency involving your child, it is the policy of Off-Main All-Stars to render first aid treatment while attempting to contact the parent / guardian for further instructions. Only after reasonable efforts to reach the parent / guardian without success, will we call a doctor. In extreme cases your child will be taken to a hospital. It is the absolute responsibility of the parent / guardian to provide Off-Main All-Stars with updated contact information and to inform Off-Main All-Stars of any medical conditions, injury or behavioral problems that may affect your child’s participation in our program.

Policies and Procedures Arrive early to practice - Practice will begin on time. Participants arriving late not only distract those in practice, but also miss important stretches and warm-up exercises crucial for every athlete prior to participation in any athletic activity. Be on time! Your child will have 2/3 team practices per week; weekdays and one Sunday. Sunday Practices begin in August. Additional practices will be added at the coach’s discretion during the heavy competition season. This is typically November through February. Expect there to be additional practices the week and weekend before a competition. It is important to have each cheerleader at all practices to allow the kids to bond, the coaches to formulate the routines, and for the teams to progress in skill and prepare for the upcoming season. Vacation forms are located in the back of this packet and at the front desk. All vacations MUST have the appropriate form and approval for it to be excused. Please turn in vacation forms by July 6th. Vacation dates will not be approved the week of a scheduled competition. Vacation requests via phone or text will not be approved. Missed or Tardy Practices - If you cannot attend a practice it must be personally pre-approved by your coach. If you will be late, out sick, etc; you must contact your coach. If you are sick, but not contagious, you will be required to come watch practice so you are aware of any changes made to the routine. If you are continually late, missing numerous practices, or injured long term, you may be dismissed from the team or placed in an alternate position. Either of which will be determined by the coach and/or All-Star Director. If you are absent during the week of a competition, you may be replaced with an alternate athlete. When a child misses practice or is injured, it affects the

team as a whole. Homework is not an excused absence. Studying for a test is not an excused absence. Concerts, Birthdays, and Anniversaries are not excused absences. Outside sports conflicts are not excused absences. If you are receiving a grade on a school activity, that is an excused absence. You need to tell Tiffany AND your coaches if you will miss practice due to a school event with a two week notice written on the absentee form in case they want to change a practice. Absences due to graded events will be approved. The coaches will do everything in their power to work around graded conflicts by moving practice, but it is not promised. Make-up practices may be called so that the team may practice as a whole. In cases of inclement weather, makeup practices will be added as well. The gym owners will decide what weather conditions permit cancelled practices. Closed Practices - Practices are closed for viewing with the exception of the last practice of the month. The observation areas will only be open for viewing on the last practice of the month. Parents may arrive 15 minutes prior to the end of practice for pick up. NO CHILD IS TO GO OUTSIDE OF THE GYM WITHOUT PARENT OR SUPERVISION. Wait patiently - All participants must remain in designated waiting areas until their coaches’ call for them. No one, including parents and siblings, are allowed in the training facilities or on equipment before practice without the direct consent and supervision of an Off-Main All-Stars staff member. This includes all training floors, tumble tracks, etc. Supervision - Please supervise your children at all times. Off-Main All-Stars is a training facility not a playground. Children should not be running through the facility, climbing on furniture, or destroying any property belonging to Off-Main All-Stars. Playing in the parking lot or outside around the building is strictly prohibited. Smoking in the facility is strictly prohibited. Pick up - Participants should be picked up inside the building on time. Off-Main All-Stars is not responsible for watching children after their practice is finished. It is the absolute responsibility of the parent / guardian to inform Off-Main All-Stars of any persons specifically not permitted to pick up a particular cheerleader. Belongings - Please be sure to take home what you bring to the facility. Adults and children must be responsible for their own belongings. Please place shoes, bags etc. in the designated areas. Off-Main All-Stars will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. Objects left behind will be placed in the lost and found for 10 days and then donated to charity. Help keep our facility clean & neat - Pick up after yourselves and your children! It’s easy when we work together. No food or drinks are permitted in training areas - this also includes gum and candy. The only exception to this rule is bottled water or other containers at the approval of the instructors. Proper attire is a must - Participants must have hair pulled back in a ponytail and bobby pinned/clipped if necessary. All jewelry should be removed prior to the start of practice. Additionally, all participants should come dressed in the assigned daily practice attire. Not only does this make the team look more uniform, but teaches students a valuable lesson in responsibility and accountability. Restroom and drinks - Participants should visit the restroom and get a drink prior to the start of class. Breaks will be given sparingly throughout the duration of practice. Info & updates - The Off-Main All-Stars website, Facebook pages, Groupme text and Emails must be checked daily for any and all updates. There is no excuse for being uninformed or irresponsible when the information has been provided.

Off-Main All-Stars apparel – Off-Main All-Stars must approve any privately made clothing bearing the Off-Main All-Stars name or branding. Elle’s Embroidery and Mad Hatter Vinyls are our official shops this year! Anything created without approval will not be acceptable and cannot be worn or sold separately. !!ATTENTION!!

Drugs & Alcohol - Participants found participating in the use of drugs or alcohol at any time will result in immediate dismissal from their team and the program.

Gossip - Off-Main All-Stars respectfully asks for parents and participants alike to avoid initiating or participating in gossip or discussing matters that may be considered inappropriate. Off-Main All-Stars staff members reserve the right to remove any individuals who do not comply with this rule. Recurring situations will ultimately result in the termination of your contract and refusal of future services. This includes our Facebook and other media sources. Issues should be brought to owner Tiffany Allen and or staff of Off-Main All-Stars.

Athlete/Parent Bad Behavior – Off-Main All-Stars will not tolerate bad behavior (Bullying, disrespect, poor attitude, fighting, etc.) Staff members reserve the right to remove any individuals who do not comply with this rule. Your coaches are here to work with you. You are expected to show respect and be courteous to your coaches and teammates at all times. You are not to make negative facial expressions, talk under your breath, roll your eyes, make rude gestures, or negative comments of any kind. When asked a question at a practice, students are to reply in a respectful manner to coaches. No negative or rude comments are to be made on any social forum websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, etc. about any member of the OM teams/ staff, competitors or other fellow gyms. Do not post any pictures of yourself or others, in a OM uniform or attire acting in a negative manner that would discredit the gym’s reputation. No cell phones are allowed during practice or competition warm-ups/awards. Quitting/Removal From Team - If you quit a team at any time during the season or are asked to leave a team, 100% of all monies given to the gym will be forfeited. This includes gym fee, registration, camp deposits, competition deposits, uniform deposits, etc. Any outstanding or posted bills up to the date of dismissal will be collected and is the responsibility of the student, parent, and/or guardian. Any outstanding balances not collected will be turned over to a collection agency. The same rule applies for a parent asked to leave the gym for inappropriate behavior/conduct.

Attendance

Competitive cheerleading, like most sports, requires frequent and focused practice in order to be successful. To ensure the most effective and productive practices possible, full team attendance is necessary at every practice! That being said, it is a requirement that all of our competitive members make their Off-Main All-Stars team the priority over any other extracurricular activities. Excused vs. Unexcused – Our PRIMARY concern is the success of the Off-Main All-Stars Cheerleading program. The following examples are what Off-Main All-Stars considers to be excused absences. Absences for reasons not included below are unexcused and will be handled by the staff on an individual basis. Medical Absences with Proper Documentation: Documentation must come from a licensed medical professional. Notes from parents/guardians will NOT be counted as excused. We understand that it is not always convenient (nor cheap) to run your child to the doctor for every minor ache and pain. Therefore, if your child is not being taken to see a professional, attendance is required at practice. Educational School Related Absences (Written documentation required): Please take note of this policy before trying out for winter or spring sports. All Star cheer is a very timely commitment and should be your first priority. School Sports: If you are on a varsity competition cheer team it is important that you bring a copy of your scheduled practices, events, and coach’s information to your All Star Coach. They will attempt to work around any conflicts the best they can. We can not guarantee that every conflict will be solved. Only varsity competitive cheer conflicts will be considered as a potential reason to miss practice. We will not work around sideline cheer conflicts, middle/JV, basketball cheer, or other outside sports. Also, absences or tardiness that results from after-school detention or other behavioral counseling will NOT be excused. Church Related Trips or Other Infrequent Activities (Written documentation required): While weekly church services cannot be excused, infrequent church related trips or activities will be discussed. Death/Terminal Illness of Immediate Family: For obvious reasons, absences due to this sort of occurrence are excused. Please try to contact the coaches as soon as you have knowledge of such a situation. Truly, our deepest condolences. Competitions: No activity, with the exception of a serious family matter illness or injury will be excused. If another activity could potentially cause your child to miss a competition it is in the best interest of our competitive program for your child not to participate. Should an unexpected event present itself during the season, decisions on how to proceed will be handled at the program director’s discretion. Due to the time commitment that is required to be a part of our competitive program, we strongly encourage everyone to be certain that competitive all-star cheerleading is your child’s extra-curricular activity of choice. While the benefits of participating are endless, we are looking for dedicated and focused individuals that want to be competitive in this sport. The success of our season is ultimately determined by attendance at practices. (If attendance becomes excessive for any reason action will take place in removal or dismissal from the program.)

Auto-pay will begin in July and will continue for 10 months through April. Declined charges will result in an additional $35.00 fee. No Prorated Months – Gym Fees are never prorated for any reason, including months that seem like your children may be practicing less than usual. This is because on other months your children may be practicing more than usual. It all averages out in the end. You are paying for the benefit of a full season. There is no prorating, credits, or refunds given for missed practices. Coach’s Fee - Coach’s fees pay for the traveling expenses of our coaches while at competitions and other related events. Choreography Fee – Choreography fees pay for every expense related to your child’s competition routine. Competition Fee- This fee will cover the cost of all competitions except for Worlds or Summit. It is MANDATORY for all team members to stay in the assigned team hotel with an adult guardian and must arrive at the hotel on Friday during a designated time. Typically the arrival time is 9pm. Travel must be planned on Friday. Every team will have practice the Thursday night before a competition. DO NOT PLAN TRAVEL ON THURSDAY. You may not return home until after the last awards ceremony stated, unless approved by the Coach and/or Owners. We will not know compete or awards ceremony times until the week of the competition when the schedule is released. Please plan accordingly. Transportation is up to each family’s discretion. Once you arrive at the designated Hotel, you must contact Tiffany and let her know of your arrival and room number. Hotel links will be provided when the competition schedule is released by the All-Star Director or office staff. Please note that when traveling, you are there for the purpose of competition and not vacation. There will be specific meet times and team functions planned for your child. Their attendance will be mandatory. Please remember that you represent your team, family, and the gym when traveling. Be respectful of others at all times. Practice Wear/Uniform - Practice wear will be ordered for the athletes at the start of the season. Once it arrives, athletes will be expected to wear the designated clothing items to their assigned practice blocks each week. Practice wear will be approximately $125 per athlete and cover all 3 practice days. These items also will be used during the season and at competitions to show unity. Team shirts may be added for larger competitions during the year at an average cost of $20 or so. Uniforms will be ordered in the summer and will be $375 each. Warmups will be approximately $150 each. This does not include your shoes. Those are purchased separately.

Page 7: Welcome [s3.amazonaws.com]...Flyer – Demonstrates body awareness and control while stunting and can execute the following body positions at the extended level: liberty, arabesque,

Discounts – A 10% discount is issued to individuals wishing to pay for the entire season up front. Families with more than one student are also eligible for a 10% discount for gym fees only. A maximum of only ONE 10% discount can be applied to the balance of those who meet more than one of the above criteria. Late, declined, & ISF fees – With auto-pay there should not be late fees acquired on tuition! Accounts will however be charged a $35 fee for declined payments. If paying for any other expense related to the competitive programs with a check or cash, your account will be charged a $35.00 late fee if not paid prior to its due date. A $35 fee (and any additional costs if necessary) will also be assessed on all returned checks. USASF (United States All-Star Federation): All competitive cheer athletes are required to become members of the USASF governing body of competitive all-star cheerleading. The USASF membership fee is $35.00. Becoming a USASF member ensures that your child is able to participate in all competitive events for the season. We will also need a copy of your child’s birth certificate. Cancellation: Please be aware the competition program is based on a 10-month season including the evaluation/tryout process. At Off-Main All-Stars, you are committing to our program not to your child competing for a specific level or team. If by July 8th, 2020 you choose not to accept your child’s team in our competitive program you may cancel your agreement by notifying the front office by email: ([email protected]).

No cancelation fee is required for canceling membership within this guideline. If you do not cancel by July 8th, it is understood that you are fully committed to your team for the entire season and are expected to pay your complete balance. If you decide to cancel your agreement after July 8th, you must notify the front office by email and you will be responsible for paying a cancelation fee of 50% of the balance due for the remaining season, and a $250 re-choreography fee. Accounts not current after 90 days are subject to collection. Note: Exceptions to this cancelation policy will be handled rigidly on an individual basis at the discretion of management. Other Expenses: Other expenses include: uniforms, practice clothes, camps, choreography, music, etc. For the complete financial breakdown of the year, please see the estimated cost for the season above. Bid Opportunities (Summit, Worlds, US Finals): Levels 1-2 teams receiving a “paid” bid to the US Finals by our final regular scheduled competition will compete in April. (Place and date TBD) Levels 3-5 teams receiving a “paid” or at “large bid” to the Summit or Worlds by the final regular scheduled competition in early March will accept the bid and compete in May/ April (Place and Date TBD). Additional cost will apply for teams accepting bids to final destination events to pay for the coach’s traveling expenses. The amount will be determined after the team has accepted the bid. Boosters: If you are interested in raising money to help offset some of the cost for your season, we will discuss options after teams are chosen.

Guidelines for Supportive Parents At Off-Main All-Stars

Supportive parents emphasize improved performance rather than competitive ranking. The distinction between performance and outcome centers on what can be controlled. Mastering sport skills (a performance goal) can be totally controlled by the athlete, whereas, the number of wins and losses (an outcome measure) is frequently outside the athlete's control. An overemphasis on competitive rank and an under emphasis on sport mastery is a primary cause of the dramatic drop out rate by 12 to 18-year-olds. Supportive parents decrease the pressure to win. Competitive sports create the pressure to win. Additional pressure from the parent(s) is likely to be counterproductive, particularly in the long run. Supportive parents avoid making the outcome of sport bigger than life. As the sport becomes blown out of proportion, a youngster's self-esteem can become tied to failing or succeeding/ winning or losing. A child should not feel less valuable or less loved when they fail/lose. Supportive parents believe that sport's primary value is the opportunity for self-development. The probability of achieving lasting fame and glory via sport is low. Approximately one out of a thousand high school athletes become professionals. Although many young athletes never achieve professional status, their sports experiences enabled them to develop life-long values and self-respect. Supportive parents understand the risks. Competition places the athlete on center stage. Anytime you attempt to succeed publicly, where others can judge you, you risk failing. Over time, competing is willingness to chance failure. Giving your best is what athletics is all about. Supportive parents communicate their true concerns directly with the coach. A positive working relationship is based upon clearly communicated, mutual goals among parents, coaches and athletes. Supportive parents understand and respect the differences between parental roles and coaching roles. Both parents and coaches need to understand their different roles. While parents are ultimately responsible for their child's development, once they have selected a coach, they must leave the coaching to that person. Although many parents often recreate with their child, they must resist coaching "over the shoulder" of the coach and/or publicly questioning the coaches decisions. Supportive parents control negative emotions and think positively. Few athletes wish to perform poorly. Negative reactions to poor performance only add to an athlete's pressures. Supportive parents realize that even the athlete who "chokes" is trying to succeed. In fact, part of the problem with many athletes is that they are trying too hard to succeed. Criticizing such athletes does little to enhance their performance. Athletes are not purposely attempting to fail however; every athlete must fail at some time to truly be successful. Supportive parents avoid using fear. Punishment and withdrawal of love can pressure kids to perform better. Unfortunately, such strategies tend to trade short-term performance gains for long-term emotional risks to the youngster's health and wellbeing. Supportive parents recognize that a love for sport is rarely fostered by fear of the consequences of failure. Supportive parents avoid criticizing. Nagging parents often confuse support with constantly reminding the children that they need to practice more, condition more, concentrate more, etc. Overly involved parents frequently lose their objectivity. They are unable to provide critical emotional support, which children often need before and during tough practices and highly competitive contests. Supportive parents recognize and understand expressions of insecurity. Youngsters who express high anxiety, more often than not, have parents who are insensitive to their symptoms. When children are nervous, uncertain, or feeling pressure, insensitive parents may trivialize the child's fears or see such concerns as signs of weakness. Supportive parents realize that such expressions are normal and are a call for emotional support. Supportive parents avoid the use of guilt. Statements such as, "We've done so much for you," or "The family has sacrificed so much, the least you could do . . . " are typical remarks of unsupportive parents. They often use guilt to manipulate the child to behave the way the parent(s) desire.

Page 11: Welcome [s3.amazonaws.com]...Flyer – Demonstrates body awareness and control while stunting and can execute the following body positions at the extended level: liberty, arabesque,

Supportive parents show empathy for their child. Empathy is an understanding of what the child is feeling and an awareness of the pressures and demands that the sport places on the athlete. Empathy is not sympathy or agreement necessarily, but, rather, a true understanding that the task is difficult. A sympathetic response to an expression of doubt by a young athlete might be, "Perhaps, you're right; it's too difficult. Maybe you can’t do it." Conversely, empathy by a supportive parent might be expressed as "Yes, it will probably be a tough practice or competition today. C'mon, let me help you get ready." Dos and Don'ts for Parents of Athletes At Off-Main All-Stars DO FOR YOURSELF: * Get vicarious pleasure from your children’s participation, but do not become overly ego-involved. * Try to enjoy yourself at practices & competitions. Your unhappiness can cause your child to feel guilty and

become unhappy as well. * Look relaxed, calm, positive, and energized when watching your child practice & compete. Your attitude

directly influences how your child feels and performs on and off the stage. * Have a life of your own outside of your child’s sports participation. DO WITH OTHER PARENTS: * Make friends with other parents at events. Socializing can make the event more fun for you. * Police your own ranks: work with other parents to ensure that all parents behave appropriately at practices

and competitions. DO WITH COACHES: * Leave the coaching to the coaches. * Give them any support they need to help them do their jobs better. * Communicate with them about your child. You can learn about your child from each other. * Inform them of relevant issues at home that might affect your child at practice. * Inquire about the progress of your children. You have a right to know. * Make the coaches your allies. DO FOR YOUR CHILDREN: * Provide guidance for your children, but do not force or pressure them. * Assist them in setting realistic goals for participation. * Emphasize fun, skill development and other benefits of sports participation, e.g., cooperation, competition,

self-discipline, commitment. * Show interest in their participation: help get them to practice, attend competitions, and ask questions. * Provide a healthy perspective to help children understand success and failure. Understand failure, in

many cases, is the #1 ingredient for Success. * Emphasize and reward effort rather than results. * Intervene if your child’s behavior is unacceptable during practice or competitions. * Give your child some space when needed. Part of sports participation involves them figuring things out for

themselves. * Keep a sense of humor. If you hare having fun and laughing, so will your child. * Provide regular encouragement. * Be a healthy role model for your child by being positive and relaxed at practices and competitions and by

having balance in your life. * GIVE THEM UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: SHOW THEM LOVE WHETHER THEY PRACTICE WELL

OR NOT/ WIN OR LOSE!!! DON’T FOR YOURSELF: * Base your self-esteem and ego on the success of your child’s sports participation. * Care too much about how your child performs as long as they are giving their best effort. * Lose perspective about the importance of your child’s sports participation.

Page 12: Welcome [s3.amazonaws.com]...Flyer – Demonstrates body awareness and control while stunting and can execute the following body positions at the extended level: liberty, arabesque,

DON’T WITH OTHER PARENTS: * Make enemies of other parents. * Talk about others (Kids, Coaches, or other parents) in the sports community. Talk to them. It is

more constructive. * Blame other kids on the team or your coaches for you or your child being upset or frustrated. DON’T WITH COACHES: * Interfere with their coaching during practices or competitions. * Work at cross-purposes with them. Make sure you agree philosophically and practically on why your child

is participating and what they may get out of the sport. DON’T WITH YOUR CHILDREN: * EXPECT YOUR CHILDREN TO GET ANYTHING MORE FROM THEIR SPORT THAN A GOOD

TIME, PHYSICAL FITNESS, MASTERY AND LOVE FOR THE SPORT AND TRANSFERABLE LIFE SKILLS.

* Ignore your child’s bad behavior in practice or competitions. * Show negative emotions while watching them practice or perform. * Make your child feel guilty for the time, energy and money you are spending and the sacrifices you are

making. * Think of your child’s sports participation as an investment for which you expect a return. * Live out your own dreams through your child’s sports participation. * Compare your child’s progress with that of other children. * Badger, harass, use sarcasm, threaten or use fear to motivate your child. It only demeans them and causes

them to disrespect you. * Expect anything from your child except their best effort. * EVER DO ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO THINK LESS OF THEMSELVES OR OF

YOU!!
