Week of the Young Child (April 8-12) Events– Celebrating Our Youngest Learners!
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public
attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood
programs and services that meet those needs.

In the 19th century, the influence of the railroad industry was vast. Some claim that Kansas was created specifically to accommodate westward expansion of railroads.
Most Kansas towns were founded because of the railroad, and few survived without it.
