FOOD PANTRY CORNER
Our St. Jude Food Pantry has grown in those to whom we serve. We are truly one family in Christ.
The St. Jude Food Pantry has several teams: First of all, our “Sharing is Caring” parishioners who donate non-perishable food items as well as money. To you, we are most grateful.
The second team is our “Give Hope” hospitality volunteers. This group warmly welcomes our guests and updates their records. Most of all, they realize sometimes people need more than groceries. Our volunteers
care about them, listen to them, and lend their loving hearts.
The third team, “Stock it Up” volunteers. They efficiently pack the grocery bags according to family size and various needs. They oversee donations, restock and keep the food pantry area clean. The youth deliver the
groceries to our clients’ vehicles and assist in other ways, too numerous to mention - they are also "real troopers" during the days of Florida rainstorms.
Our loving God has blessed our parish with generous and caring parishioners, visitors, snowbirds, and volunteers of all ages.
We Thank You for your Continued Support and Prayers!

GOD IS ENOUGH Many outstanding thinkers in the Church have devoted themselves to the study of humility. Saints such as Augus-tine, Thomas Aquinas, and Teresa of Ávila have helped us appreciate the essence of humility. Basically, humility accepts the simple truth that God creates everything, and provides all that we creatures require. Humility, then, is faith applied to daily life. If I am created in God’s very image, and if my life’s goal is to unite with God in paradise, then God desires only paradise for me. Practically speaking, that means all day, every day, God will provide just exactly what I need to grow in holiness. Furthermore, God does this for me just as much as for every other creature on earth. All the gifts and talents that we have come from God, and everything we see as failure or weakness could never lie beyond God’s powerful redemption. IN GOD WE TRUST Humility requires that we trust God to give us everything we need to live this life in such a way that we will live forever in paradise. This level of trust in God’s providence is a gift, and it takes time to cultivate. Little by little, if we really, truly, deeply know that God wants to give us heaven, then common difficulties lose much of their power to unnerve us. In humility, we can let someone else have the last cookie. In humility, we can rejoice in a coworker’s promotion. In humility, we can clean a mess we did not create. We can accept incompleteness, exclusion, and sacrifice because of the absolute certainty that God alone provides what we need. Jesus himself asks us to choose this humble way of life. “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,” he says in Luke’s Gospel today, “but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” That is not just poetic rhetoric. Jesus actually means for humility to change our lives. He challenges us to “invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

We are told by all spiritual writers that one important point to bear in mind, as we seek
to attain humility, is not to be surprised by our own faults and failures.
—François Fénelon
“In a pluralistic society, people disagree. It is arrogant to insist that the Church does not have the right to her own teaching. Certainly, a politician has the freedom to reject Church’s teaching, but let’s be honest. To choose to be pro-choice is to reject the Gospel of life. It is to be not faithful to Church teaching. The Church teaches that the right to life is fundamental. Without life, there is no other right. Today not only is the taking of so many innocent lives alarming, but no less unsettling is the darkening of conscience among so many who find it “increasingly difficult to distinguish between good and evil in what concerns the basic value of human life” (Evangelium Vitae, 4). Why should the Church not have a right to voice her teaching on this important issue in the public square? She must speak and speak often. Abortion may be for some just a political issue, but, for the innocent child, it is a matter of life or death.” —Most Reverend Arthur J. Serratelli, Bishop of Paterson, June 19, 2007.
