WELCOME TO ALOHA!
Aloha United Soccer Club (AUCSC) is a non-profit organization focused on player
development through professional soccer training. AUCSC's mission is to provide a
professional, safe, and positive soccer environment while developing youth players. We
strive to introduce young players to the game of soccer while focusing on having fun,
learning the fundamentals of soccer, and promoting an active environment.
We seek to provide an opportunity for soccer players to participate in a competitive
environment that develops a player's skills, knowledge, and appreciation for the game of
soccer by incorporating the best training, structure and development through US Soccer
licensed positive coaching.
Through experiences derived from playing soccer, we strive to help players mature as
people and will encourage the development of important life skills such as good
sportsmanship, teamwork, goal setting and fair play.
Our club has always been known as having the family type atmosphere that sometimes is
lost in a larger club. We take great pride in the fact that many relationships developed by
parents and kids alike within the club have lasted over the years. We look forward to
2
meeting you and your child on the pitch as we all enjoy the game. Please feel free to look
me up on the field and introduce yourself.
COACHING PHILOSOPHY
Graciliano Mosquera-Mena - Director of Coaching
I am committed to enhance long-term player development by using a player’s center
approach and making training and activities fun, rotating players to different positions
and, most important, concentrating on ball mastery and decision making at the youth
level. This may cost losing some games, but it is the platform for players to reach their full
potential and succeed at higher levels. I promote, praise, and expect dedication, respect,
effort, and discipline by focusing on players learning outcomes and performances.
Winning will be a consequence of player’s development never our ultimate objective.
Therefore, the style of play will never be compromised and must be the path to follow
even if the route is unpaved. My style of play focuses on ball possession through a
combination of short and long passes with progression to damage the adversary. We will
play the tempo, even when out of possession, dictating the play by making adversary’s
play predictable.

Financial Assistance
Aloha United Competitive Soccer Club strives to provide an affordable and competitive soccer experience for all participants. Aloha aims to offer some financial aid to players who demonstrate need. There is a limited amount of aid available each year, based on the Club’s annual budget.
Financial aid is awarded according to need and is granted in increments of 25%, 50% and 75%. AUCSC does not grant 100% financial aid. Among the criteria considered when determining financial awards are family size, player age and the player/family’s history with AUCSC.
For more information, please go to the Forms section of this handbook for AUCSC Financial Aid Policy and AUCSC Financial Aid Application. If you are interested in applying for financial aid, please complete an application, and submit to [email protected] within 30 days of your child’s acceptance to a Competitive or YDP team.
Transfer, and Injury Policy
All Aloha United Soccer Club fees are non-refundable. If the player chooses to leave the club or transfer to another club at any time, no portion of the fee is refundable. If a player is injured in such a manner that the player is unable to participate in the remainder of the seasonal year, the Director of Coaching will make the determination if any part of the fee is refundable. To request a refund due to season-ending injury, a medical doctor's letter must accompany the written request verifying the injury and that the injury prevents the player from participating in ongoing practices and games. If the player moves beyond a reasonable travel distance before the end of the season, a portion of the yearly club fee may be refunded.
10
Transfer or release of the player will only be granted if all player's fees and financial obligations have been fulfilled to the Club and Team. Failure to fulfill a player's financial obligations to the Club and Team may result in the player being placed "Not in Good Standing" with the Club, which could result in the player's playing privileges being suspended until the obligations are fulfilled.
Refund Policy
The policy of AUCSC is to issue no refunds after a player has played in a sanctioned game or practice. Prior to playing in a sanctioned game or practice, a refund of the registration fees less an administrative handling fee may be issued.

VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
Volunteering is important. Taking the time to help develop the club that helps young players develop in soccer is vital. And as our club grows, so do the opportunities to get involved. We have ongoing needs for volunteers. As an entirely volunteer supported club, we need people like YOU!
Do you like to plan events? Do you like to socialize? Can you take on an individual task? We have opportunities of these types of projects and more. Have a couple of hours to spare a month? Or.do you have a couple of hours to spare per week? No matter how much time to you, we have the need. We'd love to hear from you.
We simply cannot do it without your help! We are requesting that each Aloha family donate a minimum of 2 hours of your time. Our website through Blue Sombrero will list various volunteer activities that you can choose from. If you are a busy family and time constraints don’t allow for volunteering, Aloha is offering a $25 opt-out option. Thank you for being part of the Aloha family.
FUNDRAISING
Fundraising is an important component to keeping our costs down. Our club can only be successful with everyone’s help. There are many fundraising opportunities with AUCSC. For example, we do a bi-monthly Dining for Dollars. A percentage of proceeds go directly to AUCSC. Keep a look out our Dining for Dollars flyer so you can mark your calendar and spread the word to your friends and family.
In addition to Dining for Dollars, we also sell Fan Gear. Those items will be adorned with the AUCSC logo and include things such as scarves, stadium blankets and water bottles. You will be able to purchase Fan Gear year-round at the Aloha webpage at Bluesombrero.com or check with your Team Manager for more information.
We also offer other to help offset registration fees, such as selling See’s Candies and Savings cards. A portion of your proceeds go directly towards reducing your Athlete’s registration fees. Check with your Team Manager on ways that you can get involved.
14
Also, email the AUCSC Board at [email protected] if you have any questions or suggestions on possible fundraising opportunities.
DONATIONS
Have you considered giving a cash donation to Aloha United Competitive Soccer Club?
Donations are used to keep our costs low to make soccer affordable to everyone and to grow
our scholarship fund. Some companies in our area, such as Nike and Intel, even match 1 to 1
through employee match programs so a little can go a long way. All donations are tax
deductible.

Financial Aid Policy and Application
Aloha United Competitive Soccer Club Financial Aid Policy
Financial Aid is a privilege, especially when limited funds are available to support players financially. Therefore, the Aloha expects each recipient and their parents to view the Financial Aid Assistance policy seriously and demonstrate commitment to their team and Club.
Financial aid application must be received by Aloha within 30 business days of your child’s acceptance on a team to be considered for financial assistance.
Approval of financial aid is not a guarantee of assistance for future seasons. o Please note: YDP must apply in both Fall and Spring seasons.
90% attendance at practices and games is expected as part of the financial aid commitment. The player and/or family commits to ten hours of Club and/or community service each year. Financial assistance covers registration fees only and does not include uniforms, tournament
fees, travel expenses, or any other team related expenses. If a player on financial aid assistance decides to leave Aloha United Competitive Soccer
Club before the program year end, the player's parents/guardians may be required to pay the standard club program fee for the entire year. This will be determined by the AUCSC Board.
If your child is injured and cannot play (Doctor’s note required) or you move more than 100 miles from the Portland area (proof required), or have significant life event (after approval by the board) you will only be required to pay your original scholarship amount in order to release your player card.
Additional information and special circumstance may also be used to review and approve a player's need for financial assistance.
21
Aloha does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age or disability.
Any financial aid offered is at the sole discretion of Aloha United Competitive Soccer Club.
