RICE BOWLS

Did you know? Your gifts to Our Catholic

Appeal bring families closer to God and one another. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI described the family as “the first and indispensable teacher of peace.” We want to nurture the faith of our families and support them as they face the challenges of our morally troubled world. Because of your generous gifts to Our Catholic Appeal, all families in our parish – and throughout our diocese – are able to benefit from support services provided by the Secretariat for Laity, Family, and Life’s Family Ministry. Opportunities include supporting parishes with marriage enrichment programming as well resources designed to address the unique needs of stepfamilies

and single parent families. For more information, visit www.orlandodiocese.org/ministriesoffices/ family‐ministry‐welcome.

Please visit www.cfocf.org/OCA/give to make a gift online.

40 Ways to Mercy During Lent, we remember our call to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. To help Catholics enter into this time of reflection more fully, Catholic Charities of Central Florida has prepared the 2018 40 Ways to Mercy calendar. This resource has practical, spiritual and inspiring ways to share God’s love through prayer, service and almsgiving. Visit cflcc.org to download your copy.

LIVE BY THE RULES

Life might be easier if there were just a list of rules that we could follow. There is such a list in Exodus. Rules offer the false sense of security that if we follow them then we will have done enough. Our Christian faith, however, is rooted not in rules, but in Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection defy all the rules. Jesus knew that strength is born of weakness and wisdom born of foolishness. Jesus' life embodies that paradox. What Jesus knew when he went up to Jerusalem and entered the temple area was that his Father's house had been made a marketplace, a place of commerce, transactions, and exchange of goods for money. What the temple represents, who Jesus is, is a relationship, an ongoing relationship of one soul to another, of our souls to God.

Weekly Reflection

Today I will thank God for sending His Son for my sins.

Next week, our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection (CRSC). Funds from this collection help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and bring Christ’s love and mercy to all people here at home and abroad. Next week, please give generously to the CRSC, and help Jesus in disguise. Learn more about the collection at www.usccb.org/catholic-relief.

Tus regalos a Nuestro
