RESPONSIBILITIES:

PURSER DEPARTMENT Fun and Hospitable service provided by caring staff is the overall atmosphere onboard. After all, the “Fun Ship” is Carnival Cruise Line’s trademark, which makes us the “Most Popular Cruise Line in the World.” As a Purser, it will be your main responsibility to ensure that all of our guests experience the vacation of a lifetime. Enclosed, you will find the primary responsibilities of a Purser. These duties and responsibilities will be initially taught to you during a two/three-week educational course (classroom forum) and on the job training better known as the Carnival Purser College. Depending on manning requirements you may be assigned to go directly to a vessel without going to the Purser College. Regardless, your training will continue once onboard your assigned vessel.

PURSER COLLEGE

As a Purser you will be provided with an educational course, which is designed to introduce you to the basic fundamentals and job responsibilities of a Purser. The Carnival Purser College program is currently onboard one of our super-liners the M/S Fascination. After successful completion of the course, each Purser will be assigned to another vessel. (Depending on the staffing requirements we may find it necessary for you to join another vessel for onboard training)

The Purser College Trainer or Chief Purser (if you go directly to another vessel) will guide you through the total curriculum. The program consists of theory, practical study, comprehensive quizzes.

As we have many international guests, your role onboard is varied in assisting both our international and domestic guests with the everyday activities onboard maintaining guest relation standards and ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.

Enclosed, you will find the primary responsibilities of the Groups Service Coordinator. These duties and responsibilities will be initially taught to you during a week’s visit to our Miami, Shore side office. After your training shore side, you will shadow an experienced Groups Service Coordinator shipboard, until you are ready to assume this role.

Not only do we provide fun, hospitable service to our external guests, we proudly provide the same caring service to our internal guests – our crew! We believe support and harmonious team spirit has helped us achieve our goal in making us the “Most Popular Cruise Line in the World”. As a Coordinator of Staff Administration (CSA), it will be your main responsibility to meet the administration needs of our crewmembers. Enclosed, you will find the primary responsibilities of a CSA. These duties and responsibilities will be taught to you as you shadow the Manager, Staff Administration and/or another Coordinator of Staff Administration shipboard.

Picture a floating hotel….We provide all the services and amenities as a hotel, with so much more, at sea. As a Hotel Administration Coordinator (HC), you will play an important role in the Hotel Operation performing administrative functions with our Hotel Director, Food & Beverage Manager and Housekeeping Manager; additionally working alongside the Manager, Staff Administration and Coordinator of Staff Administration. Enclosed you will find the primary responsibilities of an HC. These duties and responsibilities will be taught to you as you shadow alongside another Hotel Administration Coordinator and/or Coordinator of Staff Administration shipboard.

HOSPITALITY When it comes to choosing a vacation destination, our guests have a wealth of choices, whether it be a land resort/hotel or another cruise line, we have to be better than our competitors. Our guests will be provided with great food, exciting activities, lavish entertainment, discovering exciting new places, but most importantly pampering service.

At Carnival Cruise Lines, we take great pride in providing hospitable service to all our guests. As a crewmember onboard, you will be expected to greet all our guests with a smile whether on or off duty. It is our goal to welcome and greet all guests that we come in contact with. If you possess these skills, you will succeed and we want you on our team!

ENVIRONMENT Along with your on-the-job training, you will be given training on Environmental Awareness. As the world’s largest cruise operator, Carnival Cruise Lines understands that the company’s future depends upon the health of the world’s oceans. Our methods onboard of waste disposal meet or exceed international and domestic environmental laws and regulations, including those of the International Maritime Organization and the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations. Onboard you will learn of Carnival’s Waste Management guidelines including recycling and proper disposal.

LIFE ONBOARD Life onboard a cruise ship is quite different from that on land. There is an adjustment period that most new team member’s experience. Some experience homesickness, few experience seasickness and others feel a bit claustrophobic. However, these are feelings that most overcome in a short period of time.

MEALS All meals are provided for you in the Officer’s Mess (dining room) free of charge. You may order your food from one of the waiters or serve yourself from the buffet. There are set meal times. It is customary to tip your waiter ($1.00 per day).

ACCOMMODATIONS Onboard you will be assigned a cabin. As a member of the Purser department, you will be sharing with another person from your department (same gender). You will have limited space, so please pack accordingly. The cabins are furnished with bunk beds, closets, drawers, shelves, a desk, TV-VCR and a bathroom, which contains a shower, sink and toilet. There is an assigned cabin steward who is responsible for making your bed and refreshing your cabin daily. All bed linens and towels are provided for you upon arrival. It is customary to tip your Cabin Steward ($1.00 per day/per person/not per cabin).

Laundry services are available on board. Washers, dryers and irons are provided for your personal use. Your uniforms are cleaned in the Main Laundry at no charge. For safety reasons, no personal irons are allowed to be brought onboard the vessels.

MEDICAL EXAMS All crewmembers are required to undergo a full medical examination before joining the vessel; this is a U.S. Coast Guard regulation. The medical exam is at your own expense and can easily be completed by your family physician. IMPORTANT NOTICE – Please be advised that you MUST bring a copy of your physical with all the lab results with you to the ship. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOARD THE SHIP WITHOUT THE MEDICAL.

Your passport, medical and data sheet will be collected onboard at the Staff Administration Office. Please have all documents ready when you leave the hotel. A Data Sheet is enclosed in this package. For any reason you never received a Data Sheet, you will be able to complete one onboard the vessel.

Medicals are valid for two years from the date on the actual medical form signed by the Doctor. Your medical must be valid for the entire period of your contract (6-8 months).

QUESTION:

AM I COVERED FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES?

YES, Once onboard, all emergency and medical treatment is provided by Carnival, whether on or off duty. There is a Doctor onboard to treat all medical needs.

CONTRACT LENGTH On average, for those in the Purser’s department, the length of your contract will be between seven to eight month contracts, depending on necessary scheduling the contract lengths may vary. A Seafarers agreement will be signed once you arrive onboard.

SALARY All crewmembers are paid in cash bi-weekly. Pursers are paid a fixed per-diem salary, which includes vacation pay. Holiday pay will be paid in addition to per-diem (approximately 12 days a year.) Safety deposit boxes are available for your valuables at the Staff Administration Office. Once you’re assigned to your permanent vessel, bank accounts can be opened at some of the various ports of call. Others have chosen to send their money home via money wire directly from the vessel. You will learn more of these options when onboard.

Each new-hire in the Purser Department will be required to pay the expenses for their First arrival only. Carnival will pay for hotel, transportation fees, meals, etc., from the time of arrival in the Purser’s assigned port.

Upon completion of your first contract, Carnival will pay for your return flight home. Thereafter the company will provide airline tickets from/to the crewmember’s designated homeport, unless terminated for cause, emergency or resignation.

EMPLOYMENT LETTER If you are a Non-U.S. Citizen, Carnival will send you an employment letter. This letter is to help you obtain a “C1-D” Visa from the U.S. Embassy in your home country. It will also help you clear U.S. Immigration when you enter the United States. We suggest that you wait until you receive the employment letter prior to applying for the visa.

UNITED STATES CITIZENS: are required to have a valid Passport.

CANADIANS: are required to have a valid Passport.

ALIEN RESIDENTS (GREEN CARD HOLDERS): are required to have their Alien Resident Card and their valid Passport.

NON-U.S. CITIZENS – MUST have a valid passport with a MULTIPLE entry “C1-D” visa. IMPORTANT: This visa is a requirement. The visa and passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year without these documents you will not be permitted to work onboard. If you do not have these documents the day you are required to start work, you will be denied boarding.

Your passport, medical examination results and data sheet will be collected onboard the vessel at sign on. Please have all documents ready when you leave the hotel.

You will be required to make your own travel arrangements to arrive into Miami. Pursers -You should make arrangements to arrive one day prior to your assigned date…i.e If you are joining the Purser College on a Monday, you should arrive into Miami on Sunday, if you are joining on a Friday, you should arrive on Thursday…If you are scheduled to go directly to an assigned vessel you should arrive into Miami one day prior into Miami. Group Coordinators -You should be making plans to arrive on the Sunday to stay overnight before reporting to the office on Monday morning. Prepare to bring at least $50 USD for lunch expenses during the week of training in the office, make sure you save all receipts in

order to reimburse you the money you spent in meals (lunch only) once you get to your assigned ship. CSA/HC –You should be making plans to arrive into Miami one day prior to your sign on date. Your return travel home will be paid for by Carnival, only after completion of your first contract. Failure to complete your contract, your return home will be at your own expense.

The hotel provides a van/shuttle service at the airport, which will take you directly to the hotel, just look for a Holiday Inn van and inform the driver that you are from Carnival Cruise Lines and you will be staying at their hotel (This service is complimentary). If you decide to take a taxi to the hotel, the taxi fare will be at your own expense. Pursers Going to Purser College - On Monday or Friday morning a JDT Bus will pick up the crewmembers going to the Port of Miami at 8am, please make sure you are ready in the hotel’s lobby at 7:45am, identify yourself as a Carnival crewmember and make sure you ask the bus driver for his route to avoid getting lost. Should you be assigned directly to a vessel, transport instructions will be provided in your travel package.

Group Coordinators – On Monday morning, please walk over to the Carnival Office; enter the front entrance (North Tower) at the red awning. Once inside at the Reception desk ask for David Steedman, Manager, Purser Department in Hotel Operations. While in the office,

you will be measured during the week for your uniforms.

CSA/HCs – Please refer to your Information Packet for further transportation instructions after arriving into Miami. You will be measured onboard your vessel for uniforms.

Please have all your documents ready for collection by the Manager, Staff Administration (MSA). Again, these documents are to include your passport, Medical Examination, employment letter, data sheet, etc. Your documents will be retained by the MSA until you sign off the vessel, unless you are a U.S. Citizen or Alien Resident.

No doubt during your contract onboard you will make additional purchases of clothes, shoes and souvenirs. Keep in mind, Crewmembers are expected to carry their luggage on and off the vessel; therefore, pack moderately as you will spend a good portion of your day in uniform, this including when dining. Additionally, most airline regulations prohibit access baggage. Leave ample space when initially packing with anticipation of packing your white and navy uniforms plus shoes to your

next vessel after completing the college and then when returning home on vacation.

CARNIVAL’S LOOK Knowing what types of clothes and toiletries to bring with you is not always easy. Although the days tend to be warm year round, the nights may be cooler depending on the time of year. You will need clothes to wear while visiting our ports of call during your time off. Please remember if you are out in guest areas while you are onboard the vessel, regardless if you are working or not, YOU MUST BE IN PROPER UNIFORM.

IMPORTANT-Since it takes a few weeks for all of your uniforms to arrive onboard, we must dress appropriately in and around the vessel.

In the classroom, you are expected to wear your white uniform with proper shoes and name tag (name tags are provided when you sign on). In addition, you should bring a business outfit for practical training in guest areas. A conservative formal outfit should be packed, as you will attend some formal functions during training. These civilian outfits apply only until your uniforms arrive.

You will be provided with a Team Carnival Shipboard Handbook in your cabin. This handbook will indicate proper attire at all times including hairstyles and jewelry. This handbook is to be followed in order that we keep with a standard professional look. Miscellaneous items to also be considered when packing:

UNIFORMS All officers must wear the prescribed uniforms onboard whenever in public areas. Proper attire is expected at all times.

The Company will provide you with a uniform. The day (white) uniform consists of a short sleeve white shirt, a white webbed belt, white pants (optional for women), white skirt. When wearing the skirt, pantyhose of neutral skin tone must be worn. (These are NOT available onboard).

SHOES Shoes may be purchased onboard. However, to limited sizes and onboard stock levels we strongly suggest you purchase your own shoes prior to arrival. The photos indicate the standard look we are striving for, with no deviation. This means, the heel height should remain the same along with the overall style. No sandals, sling backs, open toe/open heel, buckles nor straps are permitted. In addition, Males and Females are not allowed to wear sneakers (trainers) or sport casual shoes.

Ladies, In addition to the skirts, pants are optional, when wearing pants, you should also afford yourself with a comfortable plain white shoe (lower heel), keeping with the same format as the heeled shoe. It is recommended to wear a neutral color knee-hi or nylon type peds; no socks.

The black shoes are to be worn as applicable with the Navy Formal Uniform. Ladies, only the shoe as indicated below; no flat heels.

The company ensures that no personnel will be assigned to perform any duties on a seagoing vessel unless he/she has received sufficient information and instruction in a number of subjects affecting personal safety. The day that you arrive onboard the vessel to start your four-week college you will be required to undergo “Vessel Familiarization Training”. The objective of this training is to ensure all seafarers, including those who are working on a ship for the first time, know basic personal safety information that may save their lives and the lives of others in the event of an emergency.

Before being assigned to shipboard duties, all persons employed or engaged on a seagoing ship other than passengers, shall receive approved familiarization training in personal survival techniques or receive sufficient information and instruction to be able to:

Minimum Vessel Familiarization Training, List of Competencies

Communication with other persons onboard on elementary safety matters and understands safety information symbols, signs and alarm signals.

Know what to do in the unlikely event:

o A person falls overboard

o Fire or smoke is detected or

o The fire or abandon ship alarm is sounded.

Identify Muster and Embarkation Stations and Emergency escape routes.

Locate and don lifejackets.

Raise the alarm and have basic knowledge of the use of portable fire extinguishers.

Take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other emergency before seeking further medical assistance onboard.

Close and open the fire, weathertight and watertight doors.

Familiarization Training Program

Carnival Cruise Lines Vessel Familiarization Training Program takes place onboard. 1. A safety meeting is held where each crewmember is given his or her

specific safety duties specified on their BOAT & FIRE DRILL CARD. 2. Each crewmember will be given a training manual. 3. A video is shown with all of the information that applies, no matter what

ship the crewmember sails on. 4. Each crewmember is given specific shipboard information including

ship layout, location of crew and passenger muster stations, Bridge telephone number and location of crew and passenger life raft embarkation stations.

5. Each crewmember will be required to don a lifejacket. 6. Each crewmember will be required to simulate fighting a fire with a

portable fire extinguisher. 7. Each crewmember is shown how to open and close weathertight,

watertight and fire screen doors. 8. Each crewmember is shown to his or her emergency station, crew

muster station and life raft embarkation station. 9. A test will be given to assess the crewmember’s knowledge of the basic

information. 10. The crewmember must get all of the blocks listed on a personal

competency standard checklist signed by a qualified assessor/person, within the first seven days onboard. A copy of the list is then routed to the Safety Officer.

VACATION After your assigned contract, approximately 6-8 months, you will be scheduled for vacation. Generally you will be allowed 6-8 weeks vacation depending on the length of your contract.

Before leaving for vacation, you will be provided all necessary documents including round trip airline tickets (to your home destination and back to Miami for your returning contract). The Manager, Staff Administration provides a sign-off orientation and will provide you with all of your necessary documents.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS TITLE: PURSER REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE OF English + a minimum of 2 FOREIGN

LANGUAGES (among: Italian-French-German-Dutch-Spanish Portuguese-Japanese)

REPORTS TO: CHIEF PURSER, FIRST PURSER PRIMARY FUNCTION: Guest service and administrative support. to assist international and domestic guests with the everyday activities on board maintaining guest relation standards ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work scheduled Front Desk shifts at Purser/Information Desk with the primary focus of extending information as warranted and following up on requests as needed.

Personify Carnival’s image of a first class resort through friendly,

prompt, attentive, courteous and personal service in a professional environment.

Perform cash transactions including, but not limited to, cashing

travelers checks, selling stamps, making change and settlement of accounts.

Fulfilling balancing of float, commensurate with above transactions as

per established policies and procedures.

Register guests for sail/sign program.

Log all complaints and concerns from guests into the onboard incident report. Follow up with guests to ensure maximum guest service.

Notify appropriate service provided (technical department or

otherwise) to service cabin problems, special requests, etc., and follow-up accordingly.

To provide guest with accurate information on all shore excursions

provided by company, actually taking part and going on all tours to become familiar and knowledgeable with the excursions in an effort to

provide information requested by our guests to maximize sales revenue.

Responsible for the overall service and hospitality standards, for all

international guests, by extending personal service as warranted and following up on guests’ requests. Will respond to guest requests regarding cabin changes, lost luggage and any other questions or concerns pertaining to the ships operation.

Responsible for the translation, maintenance, printing and distribution

of all the foreign language written materials (Capers, Menu, Life Boat Drill Information, Room Service Menus etc.).

It will be the responsibility Purser to have enough copies of the foreign

language capers, shore excursion and recommended shopping information at the hospitality desk.

Responsible to conduct welcome aboard, shore excursion, debarkation

and information talks ensuring that guests are receiving accurate information. This will include accompanying international guests on shore excursions when their presence and services are deemed appropriate.

Responsible to assist the guests during meal times in the dining room

especially at the beginning of the cruise, to ascertain that items in our foreign language menus are well understood by both, our International Guests and our dining room staff.

Conduct major announcements over P.A. Systems (Public Address),

including the mandatory lifeboat drill announcements (If required).

To perform all other duties as assigned by the Chief Purser and or shore side management.

TITLE: GROUPS COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: CHIEF PURSER REQUIREMENTS: • To show initiative, decide priorities and work without supervision. • Administrative skills, good working knowledge of computers and the following

software…. Outlook, Word, Excel, note taking skills, good organization and most important interpersonal skills.

PURPOSE: To support the Chief Purser, Food & Beverage Manager, Hotel Director and the Shore side Groups Department, offering an exclusive service for Group Functions and events. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Groups Coordinator, under the management of the Chief Purser is responsible for the organization and hospitality standards for all group leaders, group functions and events on board the vessel, by extending a personal daily service.

Reports directly to the Chief Purser for the overall service, organization and hospitality standards, for all Group Leaders and Group Functions on-board the vessel, by extending a Personal daily service.

Personify Carnival’s image of a first class resort through friendly, prompt, attentive, courteous service in a professional environment.

Attendance at the Cruise Director’s Welcome On-board Orientation, Captain’s Parties and Past Guest Parties, conduct visits to guest dining rooms to visit group leaders. If and when invited dine with the guests/group leader in guest dining room.

An on-board Groups Schedule will be created and updated daily, using the Shipboard Information available relating to Shipboard activities, and lounge capacities. This Groups Schedule will be e-mailed to the vessel’s Group Coordinator in the Main Office weekly, in order that Groups events can be planned effectively in a timely manner for the relevant Public Lounges.

Coordinate all group functions, photo shoots, special lunches, site inspections, familiarization tours and press tours.

Facilitate special amenity or group month concession dissemination.

Supervise all staff for special functions including bar staff, production staff, entertainment and technical.

Maintain inventory of audio/video equipment for exclusive use for special functions; record a monthly inventory of same and ensure all is in working order.

Maintain inventory of banquet supplies for exclusive use for special functions; record a monthly inventory of same and ensure all is in working order.

Review all preliminary group literature at least one week in advance against scheduled ship events to ensure venues are not double booked and there are no operational conflicts.

Prior to the beginning of each cruise, directly e-mail the approved Groups venue and function Schedule to all Shipboard Head of Departments.

Preparation of the Welcome On-board Letter extended to all embarking Group Leaders, confirming their Group Functions, and requirements. All letters must be in each stateroom prior to embarkation commencing.

The Groups Coordinator will check on Embarkation Day that the Hospitality desks and Camp Carnival desk are setup before the commencement of Embarkation, and also check half an hour in advance that any Embarkation Day Functions have been setup.

Conducting ship tours for Groups and site inspections, if and when required.

Meet with every group leader/escort/agent at least once per cruise to review group’s details and requirements. Initial contact should be made on the first or second day at the group leaders earliest convenience.

Be present 30 minutes before the beginning and end of each function and where possible attend functions in their entirety.

Liaise with all shipboard management to ensure smooth execution of all special functions; hold a meeting each voyage with all pertinent shipboard management to ensure all functions run smoothly.

On the day before the completion of the cruise, the Groups Host will contact all of the Group Leaders in person to ensure all requirements were met and the group enjoyed their stay with us.

Liaise with shore side special services, groups, group reservations, Bon Voyage, Wedding and large group/incentive account supervisors and agents regarding on board functions.

Complete “Special Function/Group outcome report” at the close of each cruise, giving detailed review of how each function was executed and received by the customers. Copies can be sent to relevant department heads and groups sailing coordinator.

Group Coordinators will be responsible to escort VIP group leaders from embarkation to their cabins.

Group Coordinators are empowered to offer amenities e.g. Fruit basket, bottle of wine/champagne etc as a resolution to group related issues. (These items must be charged to folio 3998) At the end of each voyage the group coordinator is responsible to submit a summary report of these charges. The report must include an explanation to why amenities were issued. The summary report should be sent to the Hotel Director and Chief Purser.

During very slow periods when there may be a limited amount of groups sailing on board, and work may be very slow for the coordinator. He/she will be expected to help with the day-to-day operation of the Purser Office (back office). The Chief Purser will determine the work carried out.

To perform all other duties as assigned by the Chief Purser or Hotel Director.

TITLE: MANAGER, STAFF ADMINISTRATION (MSA) /

COORDINATOR, STAFF ADMINISTRATION (CSA) REPORTS TO: CHIEF PURSER PRIMARY FUNCTION: Create and maintain crew files for hotel operations department. Maintain crew passports. Keep Crew Personnel System updated. Keep A-Pass system updated. Keep cabin accommodation systems updated. Prepare manning lists for food and beverage and housekeeping departments. Run evaluation reminders and periodic follow-ups together with HC. Prepare all paperwork needed for clearing the crew in each port of call and homeport. Clear crew through Immigration and Customs. All preparations for 90 day Full Immigration Inspection. Sign on procedure: to collect sign on documents i.e. passports, medicals, I-94’s/I-95’s and copies of all

needed certificates from the crew upon signing on Prepare contracts, seafarer’s manuals and business ethics etc. sign on documents and

get them filled out by crewmembers. Report shipboard and office management on crew movement. Prepare all the different crew lists sent to the authorities via email. Prepare crew ID’s. Prepare nametags. Print/replace Ving card keys. Send pre-advises sign off and sign on lists to shipboard management. Print and assemble flight tickets to disembarking crew. Collect tickets from tipping

crew disembarking. Collect crew requests and send them to the office. Also responsible for periodic

follow-up. Prepare reference letters to the crew. Send sign on documentation to the office at the end of each voyage. Take copies of crew data sheets and file them in the crew files. Hold sign off orientation meetings. Collect cash from service attire, thermometers, wine openers, safety shoes, radio room

bills, nametags and airline tickets. Rent out safety deposit boxes. Open Sail & Sign accounts for officers and staff. Collect money for Sail & Sign. Pay travel etc. expenses to the crew. Change money for the crew. Rent out safety deposit boxes for the crew. Maintain spare cabin list together with the Hotel Director. Sort out crew mail and deliver it to the department heads – together with HC. Maintain daily crew hours. Any additional crew work. All other tasks assigned by the Hotel Director or Chief Purser.

TITLE: HOTEL ADMIN COORDINATOR (HC) REPORTS TO: HOTEL DIRECTOR PRIMARY FUNCTION: TO ASSIST HOTEL DIRECTOR, FOOD

MANAGER AND HOUSE KEEPING MANAGER

Prepare Captain’s conference, LOA, termination, suspension, resignation and EOC reports.

Prepare pay position changes for Food Manager and Housekeeping Manager. Prepare crew evaluations for department heads. Follow up on the same. Comment Cards. VIP letters. Voyage file preparation. Distribute all bullet mail. Distribute executive statements. Distribute the mail from boxes at Pursers/Bar/Accounting. Prepare the minutes of Hotel Director’s, Food Manager’s and Housekeeping

Manager’s meetings. Prepare the minutes of Captain’s meetings. Prepare ship’s inspection reports. Input and send environmental reports. Input and email linen reports. Prepare liquor lists from the gangway. Keep work order logs. Update stateroom steward beeper lists. Prepare special pay reports on board and email the paymaster. Prepare function recaps. Prepare early clearance lists and email them to the Pursers. Prepare overtime reports. Prepare bathroom/launderette inspection reports. Prepare any other maintenance lists needed. Prepare VSR for next week. Update CPG for Housekeeping Department. All other secretarial duties for Hotel Director, Food Manager and

Housekeeping Manager. Assist MSA/CSA upon sign on and Immigration if needed. All other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Hotel Director, Food &

Beverage Manager & Housekeeping Manager.
