• Reflections on PowerPoint Presentation: by: Catherine Higgins EDUC 601

• I am extremely excited and proud of this PowerPoint presentation not only because it is the very first one I have ever made but because it will be something I will

definitely use in my class. Speaking to parents on Curriculum Night, I will use this presentation as an outline for all the information I have to give. My school has

recently installed the in-the-ceiling projection technology with the large viewing screen. I believe this PowerPoint presentation will provide an impressive visual for the

parents attending Curriculum Night. It will provide parents with an organized, written forum to help them stay focused on the verbal information being presented. I

believe the use of technology such as this will add to the professional image I project to the parents of my students.

• I began by viewing the various slide designs and found this particular one with the bright colors and crayons that would be perfect for a kindergarten classroom. I

found that the design would change some depending on the text layout that was chosen so I tried to mix it up for visual variety. I kept my text simple as I plan to use the

PowerPoint just as an outline for the details I will give in my oral presentation. I loved the photos I found to add to each slide. They added a bright cheerfulness and

humor to the overall presentation. Sizing and positioning the pictures was somewhat of a challenge as this skill was new to me.

• This presentation will give parents an overview of all the various things their child will be learning during their year in kindergarten. I can think of many other ways

I can use PowerPoint in my class. This application of technology could in many ways do away with the use of an overhead projector. I am confident I will be able to

apply my knowledge gained in this class to design other PowerPoint presentations in the future.
