What is Career Education 9?

• builds on content covered in Career Education 8

• continues journey into self-discovery

• look at skills, interests, personality characteristics, learning styles, and attitudes

• to set personal goals

• to pursue informed exploration of potential careers

• to be aware of skills and attributes of good employees

What is Career Education 9?

• recognize key concepts in workplace safety

• understand the importance of their digital footprint.

Course Requirements

• 2 or 3 mini-assignments (Example - sign up for Remind)

• 3 to 5 assignments to be completed for the year

• Includes “Take Our Kids to Work” Day on November 1st

• Take Our Kids to WorkTM is an annual program in which Grade 9 students are hosted by parents, friends, relatives and volunteers at their workplaces. The program supports career development by helping students connect school, the world of work, and their own futures.

• Assignment *may* be attendance at a workshop:• During collab time

• On a pro-d day

• Two blocks (morning or afternoon)

Course Requirements

• All assignments and due dates posted on blog

• First mini-assignment posted already

• First regular assignment will be posted by October 1st

• All handouts/worksheets also downloadable on blog or hard copy available from Ms. James in Room 138

• Must sign up for “Remind” text/email reminders

Grade for Course

• Students receive a final mark for course at end of year

• No term marks given

• Work habits given each term based on submission of assignments by deadline

• all mini & regular assignments completed before deadline – mark = 100%
