Warm-Up – Get all needed materials out and ready for the media center. You will take a reading assessment. Once you complete the assessment, continue your research.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS & STANDARDS• How do I take notes using fact

fragments?• What shall I consider when

paraphrasing my notes?

ELACC8RI1 Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

ELACC8W7 Conduct short research projects to answer a question, drawing on several sources and generating additional related, focused questions that allow for multiple avenues of exploration.
