Abstract

This is a short presentation aimed at raising awareness of the wide range of personal productivity and business software applications that are available for free for download or use on the World Wide Web.

Free offerings range from personal email, to office tools, and even fully-featured business applications such as accounting and customer relationship management tools.

During this presentation we will highlight how to find some of the software available and provide demos of some of the more popular applications.

Dr Ben GardnerBen has been instrumental in developing a Project Collaborate initiative aimed at enabling a culture of openness and collaboration to develop through the implementation of an Enterprise 2.0 Knowledge management and collaboration tool set. Prior to this role Ben held the position of Biology Data Manager where he provided data, information and knowledge management consultancy to customer groups across pharma research and development.

Simon RevellOver the past three years Simon has focussed on Collaboration and Web Technologies, including the use of Web 2.0 tools such as Wikis, Blogs, RSS and Social Bookmarking. He has been invited to speak on the topic at conferences all over the world, including keynotes at Office 2.0, Enterprise 2.0, Web Innovators, the Knowledge Management Braintrust (USA), Online Information Conference, UK Government Information Assurance Conference and Pharma-Bio-Med.
